  1. go to the junkyard, their like 10.00 each or something, with tire!
  2. it all depends on what you are using it for, i like the 350 and 400 trans for some all out street racing type stuff, they are seriously cheap, and geared well, the overdrive is always nice though, i run a muncie fourspeed and i love it, bearly any freeway use for me though, that long first gear, gotta love it... if you building a freeway commuter, overdrive is best, Leonard muncie baby, muncie
  3. wow, this right here was one of the best threads that i have seen on this site, good stuff from both sides. currently i run the scarab position, and i kinda like it, but i can understand just from reading the jtr how nice the conversion is, im also lazy enough to not want to do a jtr, simply because the 327 doesnt burn oil, starts for me every time i want him to, revs and drives great, tranny clutch linkage are golden, car drives great in general right now, and i think my car handles great, and does not overheat, and i run a stock datsun radiator and run 170 on a 160 all day. once its time to drop the blower/turbo motor in, im gonna go jtr, it just makes sense, but i wouldnt rule out the scarab at all.
  4. 71 road runner, duster with 440 would be nice 454 4spd vette comes my way for the right price,,,,ooooh i dont know....
  5. i think 83zxt put out 180hp and 205lbs with no more mods and big exhaust and no smog you could be close to 200hp, maybe 2k if you do all the work yourself, no?
  6. initial z, thats good. hey guyz if you wanna know more about a hachi-roku drift match, check out club4ag.com, lots of good drift movies there.
  7. i will only race a hachi-roku drift match......
  8. hey jumbo, have you moved over to the frisco city by the bay yet, man im dying to see those subframes, havent really done much in the way of that yet, z just been hanging out in the garage, work and stuff, but im planning on running an H shaped subframe down there with some nice floors, got some pics? even better, lemme see the dang thing, and good work!!!!
  9. two cars could sway me away from the z right now a 65 nova four speed, and a 454 stingray vette, yeah i know those are the dog years, but all the cubes are laid out for you..... elenor is pretty bad, my buddy is picking up a 390 68 fastbck for pennies and hes looking hard at that paint.....
  10. man youre doing it! are you gonna bless us with the six pack? say yes.
  11. im planning to do mine on a frame rack here at the shop over a five weeknights span sometime in the next month or so, im going with the 2x3 tubular as well, too much is better than too little, and these 240s have too little frame rail to be comfortable. thicker floors is nice too, i want this puppy rock solid, oh yes. i dont know if doing it on jack stands is wise, wont there be a lot of strain on the middle of the car as you start taking out what little frame there is on these cars? just my thoughts if im in santa rosa ill holler....
  12. i like the turbo l28et swap, with nitrous of course as my intercooler but i cant afford to make an lseries z go anywhere but the dereierre.... it also boils down to your money too, and what your willing to spend to get what, if you dont do any of this work yourself, youre better off with a stock motor with some carb and tuning, and the 280z efi motor doesnt really act that much differently from a carb motor, except the nice cold starting, my 280z be givin me lovin like that. other than that, the hondas run all over my little bone stock 280z, but thats ok, once BIG RED wakes up from hibernation with his non-nissan motor, we gonna show em who the king of import racing really is. Leonard proud owner of a "fake" 240z
  13. i think all-motor your best bet is the carb setup with the triples, cam, engine building, headers, yeah, seriously doubt you can get fi to perform all motor as well as carbed. the fi system is cool, but i think if you go fi its time to biggity boost like a madman.....
  14. you wont really notice power difference from l24 to l28, maybe a little torquier, but not so much to justify a swap if your current motor runs good. GO TURBO YOUNG MAN...then you will have some juice....
  15. you need to get out with your z car and dump the clutch for you ten years of hard work.
  16. thats what i thought, but that would be fresh, turbonitrous..... is there anyone out there who has made up a nitrous kit for the l28et motor?????
  17. just wondering. im acutally thinking about going turbo 240z with that l28et,t3/04 turbo, box, fmic combo, i love turbos what do you guys think would be needed to have a 300hp turbo motor and about 400 with the jiggity juice???? this would be a daily driver and have to be somewhat reliable. at what point does the stock computer not like you anymore? when would you need to fortify the bottom end??? any help would be great.....
  18. once again it all depends on your resources, what can you get cheaper than regular, how good are you with the wrenches ya ya ya yay.... id say 6k is good for a healthy v8 conversion, if you do all the work yourself....
  19. i dont know if this helps, but on the really high hp gnx guys that are boosting 24plus, ive seen the infamous seventh injector plumbed into the fuel rail, which was actually a nitrous solenoid modified by this guy we call the jedi master, and it works good, just takes time.....im not sure if anyone has done it to a z..yet...
  20. i honestly dont think that the exhaust means a dang thing to an na motor, maybe turbo is different, but i think a good flowing no cat system of an h or an x will give similar results, except when you are trying to shave a tenth and youre in the 10's, then you need to do some research, other than that, play on playa.
  21. you gotta want to do it, you can do anything you want to do, anything you want its up to you...(in living color) i started out not knowing how to turn a wrench now i can hold my own just fine, but you gotta be in it to win it, fo sho.
  22. i think it is just like any other type of car that you are trying to hop up, race and stuff, it all is gonna cost you one way or another, and you should be prepared and be advised before you ever get into it, youre never finished, and when you are, You sell...
  23. i like to agree with that theory, riddle me this: when is v8 parts or info harder to get than 4cyl??? its not, everyone and their moms knows the firing order on a sbc and every parts store keeps most of the 8 stuff on hand, no ordering half the time and a short wait when you, i like it. and about boost and revs, hey we alredy put the 8 in, the next level is one floor DOWN!!!
