  1. i dont think a four cylinder z is right, or adequate power for teh money youwould spend to get it even stay up with a v8z, or even a pumped up l28et for that matter(which i am daily getting more and more fond of), and I DARE YOU TO PROVE ME WRONG(because i doubt you can)!!!! the l28 turbo is the easiest route to go, you dont have to change motor position, just have to learn the wiring, and boom there you go, little intercool, little bov, you have good power with room to grow, four cyl, i dont think so, the minor handling you would achieve is negated by the fact you see nothing but tailights after the launch.... my .02 Leonard king of import racing.
  2. hey how about that old cosworth vega motor, my good homie at the shop had one of those running 30lbs of the bigity biznoost...., im not joking, racing motorcycles......
  3. hey guyz, the red machine is on the disabled list for now, have some shift linkage, and frame reinforcements to take care of, taking my time at that as well. i really want to make my z look downright ferocious, with some flares, a rear spoiler , and the no headlights look with the painted headlight covers, and a nice front end treatment, i was thinking about a g-nose with the headlight covers, or no maybe going back to the stock front end with no front bumper or something, does anyone know where i can find more examples of this style?
  4. i ran an unsprung four puck before i swaped to diaphram, them pucks hurt my teeth. the oem racing clutch im running now engages great, and the price was right.
  5. i like the oem 69 z28 racing clutch, have yet to ever get it to slip, and i treat it BAD....
  6. i guess the best way to run gnx is the auto, thats what theyre best suited for, unless you can shift REAL fast. i always wondered what gm was thinking when they put that bad boy out, and why they did not follow through with further inovations of the sort, like a production one hit wonder. oh well.
  7. hey what do you want done to that there zcar?? i know a great mechanic thats been working on datsuns since the 70's.....and can paint them good as well. len168@onebox.com, use it.
  8. ive discussed this with a couple of folks who have had run the gnx drivetrain/car, the stick gnx that is. they also say yes it can be done, but you better be the fastest gun in the west when it comes to shifting hard, that motor spins to redline really fast up to a 5200redline, i would love me a gnx/muncie combo, donno, im really fond of muncies.
  9. ive actually heard that the vg series motors are very durable and can make good power, i think the move to a v6, with a shorter crank would make the motor better at a sustained rpm? with a single turbo stock they made 200hp and 200lbs, i bet that you could get those numbers to seriously inflate without taking a valve cover off, and still have a reliable racing motor, just my thoughts.
  10. i would go with the toyota 4a-gze atlantic, the 20valve that revs 10k, 200na hp, theres motor tranny wiring and ecu on ebay....

    weird clunk.

hey guys, i am having the weirdest problem with clunk have ever heard. say im in stop and go, ok im in first rolling to a stop, when im about to stop and i put my foot on the clutch and brake, it clunks hard, but not when i take off or shift gears, it only makes the noise rolling slow in first, what is it???
  13. you can put anything you want into a z, im always screaming v8 is the best, for cost wise to performance (hp to $) i also am a big fan of the multi caburated japanese engings, i just drove my boys 71 corolla with twin sidedrafts, and that little thing will hit the tightest doughnuts known to man. the v8 is very well documented, which adds to cheapness, everything is mapped out for you from start to finish, and once you have your template swap finished, you can get real jiggy with it. my second favorite is the gnx swap, which makes awesome power, and its turbo, just might be my next drivetrain, its the bomb, with BOOST. it all depends all your skills and mouthpiece manipulative capacity (read G A M E).
  14. the kit is brand new, wrapped. price is real cheap, i think i can trade for pizza and beer or something like that.
  15. looks cool, thats a mockup right? really cool with the BLACK paint. but i associate those rims with fords, so you know, playa like me cant run, looks tough though, very tough.
  16. 11's at 5800ft is pretty hard, im thinking you would need something close to 500hp to make that number, thats all i meant.
  17. no no not for my car, im actually about to pick up a 78 280z that runs decently, and my homie has a BAE turbo setup for the car, that bolts up to the l28 with fi, has anyone heard of this setup, it cmae out around the time the 280zx and i can get this turbo for an outstanding price, just wanna know if its a good setup... thanx yo.
  18. hey we all really need to see your 500hp straight six thats bone stock inside, please show me...
  19. a close buddy of mine used to have a 289 ford 510 back in the 70's! with the r160, he blew up everything and fixed it and sold it, it can be done....
  20. i always like to think the 327 is the heater, i like it because it revs like a madman and makes this great sound when its approaching redline, like a chainsaw mowing down the enemy. but like they say, THE CUBES DONT LIE! any car benefits greatly from more cid, increasing hp to weight, and if you can do so by increasing $ to hp, you should do so...
  21. back in 1990 when this car got its first 8, it failed carb for the heads, carb, manifold, lack of effective smog equipment, and various other offenses, then they passed the car and gave it a carb sticker because it would have cost more than 500 to fix, the paperwork has this one part where the referee intervened and passed the car on that basis. very very strange....
  22. or you can modify the pushrod on the stock datsun unit.....
