  1. How do you plan on fitting a tire on a tire? In all seriousness, search.
  2. sluggish throttle response is usually due to incorrect air/fuel ratio. Do you know how to test the mixture on su's using the lift pin on the bottom?
  3. I would think is the Carbs that are out of tune. I wouldn't count out a timing issue at this point though. Have you pulled a plug and checked it out? pull a plug(or two one from the front 3 cylinders and 1 from the back 3 cylinders) and post a picture. This should let us know if it is lean or rich. Or if there are other issues present.
  4. haha, been there. I may have to start hitting up lowes for tools. How are their prices?
  5. I don't have points. Thanks though. I've got a 280zx dizzy I'm gonna swap in so hopefully that will help.
  6. Is the top of the strut tower bent backwards?
  7. ERRRRG. I wanna keep the interior looking stock in my Z but those seats look incredibly nice. I'm so conflicted now.
  8. Does it stop when the choke is closed? I would expect it to come out of both if they were synchronized properly and the chokes synchronized as well.
  9. I believe that module you are talking about is the fuel bowl. And if it is overflowing then it is more than likely it is going out the fuel bowl vent into the air cleaner. (the vent hose is normally connected to the air cleaner when it is in place.) As for reasons why it would be doing this, I'm no expert but I would say that either the needle valve is stuck open or the float is busted/maladjusted. I realize that both these probably don't make any sense to you but I'm sure you can search and figure out what they do and how to adjust/replace them.
  10. This may help: http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/electrical.htm
  11. My Z will start right up after a good 5hrs in the hot sun but if I let it sit over night it takes a bit of cranking before it will start. That is what makes me think it is the fuel bowls being dry. @Tony_D -thanks for the lengthy reply. I'm aware that some Z's when the ignition is "on" will use the electric fuel pump to prime the fuel system. I did some light research and didn't find anything saying that an early 260z does.(and mine doesn't) And the FSM leads me to believe it doesn't. I will be doing some tests when it is warm enough to start my z(for rust/moisture reasons not lack of being able to). I plan on filling the fuel bowls on a cold start and seeing how that affects the starting. That should give me an idea if i have something from Rolling Parts long list going on or just dry fuel bowls. growing up in the 90's I have never experienced a carbed car before and have no idea what they were like new and functioned properly, so thank you all for your patience.
  12. Ok, So 10-15 seconds is not normal huh? Thanks for the info. @panzerace -The engine turns over fine but it just sits there and whirrs for a while.
  13. I do use the choke, and I have checked the compression (its good I forgot the actual psi though) and I have a 280zx dizzy ready to be installed. lol It does take a good 10-15 seconds of cranking and I would like to shorten that if possible.
  14. OK, so Thanks everyone for the extremely thorough answer. ( I had a good giggle at the intetia pic) So what I got out of that (correct me if I am wrong): 1. get a gear reduction starter, same performance but less taxing on the battery 2. in order to start faster I need to prime the carbs. as for #2 I asked a question a while ago about putting an electric pump on my z just for priming and got shot down (http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=150004) anybody wanna look that over and see what why I'm getting a different answer here. Thanks again.
  15. Hello, I have a Early 260z with Round top SU Carbs that I recently rebuilt. I have the opportunity to pick up a used 280zx starter (I believe all of them gear reduction). My question is will that help my Z start faster (like a modern car) and use less of the battery? Thanks, Jeff
  16. I Find Wilson's gives me a nice ride quality, Nike's are a bit harsh. Also I the Jr size gave me a nice 1.5 inch drop.
  17. ^yup. I'm gonna guess its 1080P which is 16:9. Your pics won't have been taken in 16:9 so they will appear stretched if you put them in 16:9. Just readjust the images in whatever program (windows picture viewer probably) you are viewing them. And don't set the background to stretch. Have fun with all that screen real estate
