  1. I have pretty much the same setup as you. They work up to a point. Basically they keep the roll center of the car above ground. They also keep the LCA's and the steering tire rods more parallel when viewed from the front. I think they are a good compromise for slightly lowered Z's with street performance suspension and no other geomtry mods. For more radically altered suspensions that have adjustable geometry, the need for the spacers pretty much dissapears. I found that the eccentric bushings for the inner LCA's to add a little bit of negative camber also helped to make the car more stable and predictable. There is TONS of information, theory and practical first hand knowledge about this stuff on this site. It is overwhelming sometimes!
  2. How about this puppy! http://www.race-cars.com/engsales/other/1163525148/1163525148ss.htm You can be the KING of the HybridZ world with this sucker.
  3. Ohhh the uninhibited girls in Italy...and the uninhibited food...and the uninhibited driving!! You will be near the best beaches in the world. Too bad you will miss the high season. There are two or three S30's in Italy. One of them is in Bergamo. It's a silver 240Z. I have spent alot of time there and all I can say is, maximum enjoyment. Fun, family, quality and craft, comes way first over quantity, money, and career. You should be able to find weber DCOE's in the salvage yards by the dozen. Hint hint.
  4. johnc touched on this. A proper bedding cycle for the rotors pads and shoes is a MUST. I use the technique posted on the Baer Brakes website. Go to the tech section. http://www.baer.com/
  5. Spend some time in a service area. You see some great action there. Where in Italy will you be?
  6. I would like to give my thanks and appreciation to the powers that be for putting this together THE RIGHT WAY. I am very happy that both the L6 Turbo and V8 versions will be represented by HybridZ. I am eagerly waiting a donation route so that I can be a part of this.
  7. Hey I'm not laughing at him, I am laughing at the spelling of some of the words. BTW I learned English as a second language too. Come on, if he meant Recaro, it should be written right on the seat somewhere. Yes, it is an interestingly different Z.
  8. Good point. I suppose this Winter I should also pay a visit to the driveshaft and the splines in the rear of the transmission too. It just seems like too much play in the overall drivetrain but not alot of play in any one part. Maybe it's time for an overhall of all these rotating parts.
  9. Try to read this ad without laughing. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/233852817.html It even has "recardo" seats!
  10. I agree that todays brake systems need to be cheaper and less complex. Think about it. They are pretty antiquated by design. The only thing I doubt is that this invention will give significantly shorter stopping distances. Other than that, all issues can be overcome by design.
  11. WOW this is the best news I have heard in a long time! Need anything, give a shout out!
  12. It's an awesome feeling! Well worth all the skinned knuckles and skinny wallets.
  13. CLEAN THE HARNESS CONNECTOR PINS AND SOCKETS ON THE ECU AND AFM. Use electrical cleaner spray. JUST DO IT
  14. Nice Z and it looks like it is unmolested. Good find. Agree...running hot would be either the fan clutch or the thremostat. Fast idle means that too much air is going into the intake manifold. In all the FI Z's that I have played with 76, 77, and 78 when you unscrew the oil cap or pull the dipstick, the idle should drop and the car should just about stall. If not, somethings wrong with the air side of the FI system. RULE #1 Don't start taking things off the motor to simplify UNTIL you get it running right. Check and listen for hissing air leaks, BCDD Valve (under the throttle body) stuck open, Air Bypass valve stuck open, missing or cracked vacuum hose (VERY COMMON) ANYWHERE in the whole car, fast idle servo for the A/C stuck. Also, I don't think I see a vacuum bottle anywhere. There should be one somewhere. Check its hoses.
  15. ...and it can have $30.00 wheels while still beating the performance of the original! LOL
  16. Alfa Romeo's are actually kind of "mutt" Ferarris too if you read the whole history about them. "When Ferrari left Alfa Romeo, he went on to build his own cars." -Wikipedia
  17. If you are going to quote number here folks, please back them up with timeslips and dynosheets. What do you think this is, zc#r.com or something!
  18. Yeah but noises that the diff transfers to the body with a solid mount are ugly.
  19. Oh wouldn't it be great if we had the "Jag specialist's" number. I bet we could think of tons of questions to piss him off.
  20. Funny how when something isn't working right...you hate it, but when you suceeded in fixing it and it's working great, you like it again. As long as the Hydraulic lifters cooperate, I like them....that may change again though.
  21. Just wanted to point anyone that needs to know how to service the hydraulic lifters..... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=115760&highlight=lifters
  22. Alpha? You mean Alfa Romeo? Which one do you have?
  23. I grew up in the Bronx and one night I was looking out my bedroom window and saw a guy carrying a large laundry bag and peeping into car windows parked along the block. He was going from car to car down the block and had stuff in the bag already. I had the lights off in my second floor window and the window was open. He couldn't see me watching him. I went to the closet to grab my BB gun that looked like a rifle. I turned on the light then went back to my window. I pointed the rifle to him and tapped the muzzle on the window frame. He heard the noise, looked up, dropped his bag and ran like a deer! I called the cops and they showed up to pick up the bag about 5 minutes later. The look on his face was priceless when he saw the muzzle pointed at him!
