  2. I dont mean to hijack but the car ads are sometimes plain silly...if not entertaining. I just read an ad in Car and Driver for the Subaru STI. This is what it says: "When you go 0-60 in 4.5 seconds, you don't need a character called fast." LOL Obviously poking fun at VW's "My Fast" ad campaign.

  6. A bit too rich for me but not a bad deal at all! http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/other/1145324583/1145324583ss.htm
  7. Did a search for GT2 240Z and found this cool place. Not that I am going to pay anywhere near those prices....but interesting nonetheless. http://www.gfs1.com/vintage_racing.html
  8. I have done two track days with my turbo 280Z and it was an absolute blast. I am having second thoughts about taking her out for more track days. All the time I have spent making her look pretty cannot be replaced if I put her into a tirewall or worse. At this point I am on the fence as to a roll bar or cage and harness to make the car safer on the track. Instead, I am having thoughts about picking up a 240Z in rough but useable condition. maybe an old track car that needs some mechanical TLC. I would feel much less apprehensive about pushing the limits in a stripped car with a cage, harness, and krylon paint. I just saw a friend of a friend put a daily driver STI into the tires at Limerock and did about $9,000 in damage. For $9,000 I could buy an old ready track day car! It just makes more sense. Doesn't it?
  9. I enjoy browsing the membes garage section once and a while. Just a reminder to make sure your virtual garage is up to date. I know we are constantly working on our hybridZ's so they are ever changing. Try to keep the garages up to date as well. It's fun to see what people are doing in their garages. BTW Admins? How do we edit our garages?
  10. Probably the best thing to do is to study the service manual. Each hose and wire was put there to serve a function. You may or may not need some of the functions for your application. Only you can decide. ....or trial and error method may work for you too.
  11. That folks is how you do it right! Primo work Tim. How can you resist taking it for a drive? or have you?

  13. It's kind of a PITA to run the gen. every other week and Stabil wont really do that well for really extended storage. Another issue is that we have had periods of 3-5 days without power here. I dont want that much fuel in the garage in cans. Three cars hold alot of fuel and it's always fresh. Also, the local stations wont pump without electricity. Without power, I have no water, no toilet, no heat...you get the picture. I will check out Harbourfreights website. Thanks.
  14. "someone PLEASE convince me to stay L6!!!" OK...on behalf of Garrett76 http://www.dejavideo.net/280z8/garrett.wmv
  15. It's meant to deter search bots that are not yet members...lol
  16. I have a home generator installed in my detached garage. It's a 6500watt Generac gasoline model. I don't keep gas in it because it goes stale. In the event of a power outage, I plan to siphon gas out of one of our three cars. Does anyone have a recommended hand pump for siphoning fuel? I saw alot of the hand crank 55gallon drum types but all I need is a simple hose I can drop into the tank filler and a squeeze bulb to prime the line. I can't seem to find a source for one. BTW ...I quit syphoning gas by mouth when i was 16. YUCK. ;-(
  17. Look for some old threads from cygnusx1 (me) and baastad525. We both ran FMU's and stock Turbo FI. I currently still run a Begi FMU, stock 83 Turbo Injection, Walbro Pump, 15psi boost, 65psi fuel at max boost. I will go lean after about 5300 rpm but if I turn up the FMU then it goes too righ in the midrange.
  18. Congrats!! We dated for 11 and now married for 9. I bought a house just before we were married and we moved in together with $400 in change left. We worked our way out of the financial hole. First kid is on the way now. When I told her about the noisy hydraulic lifter she asked me when I was going to rebuild the motor.
  19. I think that head used to cost about $10,000 way back before things got expensive. BTW. Im serious.
  20. TT All wheel Drive, Air Cooled. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0ActWLFu2bs2Ls4 It's such a sweet car. I let him drive my Z and he let me drive......his M3. Maybe next time the Porsche. He LOVED the Z.
  21. Right after you scrounge a deal on used cast pistons, assemble the motor, and drop it in, HE or SHE will drop you enough cash for the better parts.
