  1. I just spent 12 days in CA Sierra Nevadas and it was 65F-85F and 20-40% humidity EVERY DAY. I got back to New York, got off the plane to 95F and 95% humidity. You haven't lived until you sweat like a can of coke while standing still. You know that musty feel of an indoor pool/locker room? That's what EVERYWHERE feels like here in NY. I swear the insects are loving it!! Anything with any thermal mass, like cars, concrete, dirt, just sweats from the humidity. It's all about the dew point. I'll take 108deg with a low dew point anyday!!
  2. Why is it that these vehicles sound like they are revving at 6000 RPM all the time. The exhaust note seems artificially exaggerated...or is it just me. I think they sound "fake" for lack of a better description.
  3. I bought a $59 window unit at Walmart and used a Sawzall to cut a hole in the back wall of the garage. It took about an hour and the garage is cool, dry, and my tools dont get all rusty from the moisture anymore. It's the best thing ever! After I wash the car, I pull it inside the A/C and detail it. The A/C helps to dry out the car too.
  4. How does it brake? or does it have reverse thrusters?

  6. Wow some of it is even shiny! With some work that can be a pretty clean car. Looks like he needs a column cover and some door panels. Ebay?
  7. July 30th is good for me. Bear Mountain is fine. You already have my number.
  8. Hmm let's see. Took me about $1500 to convert to an L28ET with a TO4B and an good intercooler, fuel pump, and FMU, with A/C. Result 265RWHP/300RWTQ that drives like a factory vehicle. It was basically a direct bolt in with minor fabrication. The electronics basically transferred right over. Asides from electrical connectors loosening there have been NO issues. How much is a V8 conversion going to cost per horsepower? How much labor invlolved? Right now I am enjoying driving the car. Someday when I feel motivated, I'll go V8 or maybe I'll save that for a Cobra.

  10. How much energy does it take to pressure cook garbage? How much emmisions is generated during the pressure cooking process? What is the rate of production? How much garbage can be used for fuel? I bet we use more fuel than we generate useable garbage. There are alot of points to consider before breathing easy. I'll try dumping some trash into my gas tank tomorrow to see what happens.
  11. Here is another fact that I like to keep in my head for some reason. The equator is 24,900 miles long and moves 1,040 miles/hour as it rotates West to East. Thanks for the post, I love this sort of stuff.
  12. Well, here is an update after over a year of smooth running with no issues. Some may remember the thread about the multi pin connectors on the L28ET fuel spark computers. Many people have posted about problems with misses and running rich and bogging under load...etc. Well I was out for a usual ride in my Z today and it was running great as it has been for over a year. About a year and a half ago after wrestling with the ECU connectors every two weeks I decided to use some dielectric grease on the AFM and ECU plugs. It worked great for all this time until now. All of a sudden, under load, anything past 1/2 throttle either the ignition or fuel was cutting out completely. I thought maybe my fuel pump was gone or maybe I was out of fuel. Luckily I was about 1/4 mile from where my parents live so I diverted towards their house. As I drove, the problem got worse and worse, I had to milk the gas pedal to get the car into their driveway. When I stopped in their driveway, it stalled. I cranked it over and it would NOT fire up at all. I pulled the coil wire and had my brother who happened to show up, hold the wire to a strut bolt while I cranked. No spark at all. I had fuel pressure, I had fuel pump, I had fuel, the relays for all the systems were clicking on and off. I disconnected/reconnected the AFM plug. That made no difference. I pulled the ECU off the kick panel and disconnected/reconnected all the multi-pin plugs. Cranked it over and it fired right up. Problem solved. I'll say it again. 9 out of 10 problems with running conditions on the L28ET electronics are caused by those D#$& connectors.
  13. Instead of a static event/show. We could meet up somewhere and cruise to somewhere else for lunch or dinner. I don't know how many people are up for a drive along the Hudson River but it is fantastic heading up from Bear Mountain across the Bear Mountain Bridge and then about 1.5 hours North on route 9 or 9D to Rhinebeck, NY. If we do it on a weekend we can visit the Aerodrome. It's $15 fee, working antique airplane museum. They actually fly the antique planes off the grass runway every weekend and put on some really cool aerobatic shows. They also fly RC planes after the real ones. You can even get a ride in a wooden/canvas plane if you dare. http://www.oldrhinebeck.org/ "June 17 through October 15, 2006 One show Every Saturday and Sunday - Weather Permitting. Shows begin at 2:00 PM"
  14. Yes count me in. Bear mountain is on the Hudson River about 15 miles up from the Tappan Zee Bridge for reference.
  15. It's not fake. Ownership of both cars does go to the winner.
  16. Humid air is less dense than dry air. Fuel injection systems and carburetors will compensate for less dense air and cut back fuel to maintain the correct mixture density. Nothing beats a cold dry day in winter with a turbo Z....but like you said, traction gets worse.

Those guys would not have understood that math anyhow, I assure you.
  18. I think I saw EvilC on the news tonight. They were talking about street racing in the Bronx. I think EvilC was on the sidelines laying low while some Hunda did a smoky burnout near McLean Avenue. Those damn kids think they invented something new!!! We were street racing in the Bronx 20 years ago!...damn now I sound old. Too bad I missed your visit to NYC. I was on vacation out west.
  19. I would love to drive my Z from NY to CA. I just need to keep the Z until I am at that point in my life where I can take all that time off to enjoy the trip. I have already done it (NY-AZ-NY in a big loop) in a 1984 200SX back in college. Two friends and I did almost 8000 miles in 14 days!! We took our time. BTW I did see a few Toyota Sequoia's in Sequoia..I thought "How cheezy is that....?"
  20. Well I am amazed at the sheer scale of size and time in these parks. Here I am at Sequoia. Now we are at Yosemite and will be moving up to Tahoe soon. So far have only seen ONE Z. A green one in great shape driving through the desert. The roads all scream ZZZZZZ.
  21. Wow it looks great. You took off the NIM sticker and waxed it. Nice. Very shiny and I do like the mirrors. Evilc, get back to work. I can be here, I am on vacation.
  22. LOL Let's see Blaine or Angel do this! http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=865109718&n=2
  23. Well, I am signing off for a week and a half to visit the mountains of CA. Our itinererary will be Reno,Sequoia,Yosemite, and back up to Lake Tahoe over a 12 day period. I KNOW I am going to miss driving my Z especially on some of those wild roads up in the mountains. I will be driving...drum roll please....a Hyundai Accent rental beater while the Z sleeps back on the East Coast. I should be able to give a detailed review of the Accent when I return. Everyone hold their breath right? LOL. We will have a laptop and digital camera, so if I get connected, I'll pop in and say hi and drop a few photos. Later!! VACATION TIME!!!
