  1. The ZHP is really nice but I can't find any in xi trim for 2006.  The single year model, 2006 330xi, came with 255hp which, I think, was more than the 2005 ZHP's anyway.  I am testing a dealer owned white/black '06 330xi, 42k miles, this afternoon.  Friday, I am going to see a local '06 330xi with the sport/winter package, 18" wheels, spare 17" with snows, premium sound, black/black, 7/100k warranty 55k miles.  Game is on, and I think I need to pass on the 335's due to reliability prob's  Here are some 2006 330xi spes. • 2,996 cc 3 liters in-line 6 front engine with 85 mm bore, 88 mm stroke, 10.7 compression ratio, double overhead cam, variable valve timing/camshaft and four valves per cylinder • Premium unleaded fuel 91 • Fuel economy EPA highway (mpg): 28 and EPA city (mpg): 19 • Multi-point injection fuel system • 15.9 gallon main premium unleaded fuel tank • Power: 190 kW , 255 HP SAE @ 6,600 rpm; 220 ft lb , 298 Nm @ 2,750 rpm
  2. Wow just got some sobering facts regarding the TT 3.0 in the bimmers. Â They run high pressure direct fuel injection from a mechanical fuel pump. Â The fuel pumps are showing almost a 100% failure rate and a 70% failure rate on replacement pumps. Â Â After four years, the problem has only been marginally improved. Â BMW extended the pump warranty to 10yrs/120k miles but people are having to change these things as often as every 5,000 miles. Â YIKES. Â Poor starting, and limp mode on the highway are the symptoms. Â I think I need to stick with my original idea of the 330xi non-turbo and suck up the lack of power for now. Maybe I can Megasquirt/Ethanol a 335xi and show BMW how it's supposed to be done?
  3.  I have three left toes on my right foot....that's why they never drafted me when I was in my prime, now I'm just too wide.  I get five points back for spelling toes correctly.Â
  4. It's like a scavenger hunt..but the file size is too large so please reduce to impossibly small file size, but that format is not accepted, so print out this form, and fill it out, and scan it, then attach it, but not as a cover, and make sure you include your eligibility, and why you never served in the armed forces, otherwise just fax your resume, but erase your resume first and write it this way, do not include your skills, because we don't care....and on and on and on......I have a midnight deadline to get this thing done. Â Back to work.Â
  5. ...and the process makes the Megasquirt Manual look like Dr. Seuss. Â
  6. My brother recommended the same car LOL...
  7. Â I drove the 330xi last weekend and it was awesome as far as a daily driver but fast it was not. The 335's are coming surprisingly close in price to the 330 and the 328's Paul, Now that's what I'm talking about....AWD Launches are nice. 300 ft-lbs at 1500rpm stock!
  8. I love Audi's, Subarus, Saabs, all the "cold weather" AWD cars but I have this bug that REALLY likes the styling and comforts of the 3 series.  I am expanding my search to include....used... 328xi 330xi and 335xi  I may regret buying a car that might go into a cocoon someday, and come out as a money pit, but at least I will enjoy it for a while.  The depreciation on these cars is really steep at the beginning so there are some REALLY nice deals out there.  I am rolling the dice a little, but hey, you only live once.  What pushed me over the edge was the third grade girl that suddenly passed away in my wife's class last week.  It makes you think, and changes you a little.  Follow your heart a little.
  9. I need the AWD because we need at least one car in the family that can go out, and come back during a snowstorm. Â The mountain ridge lines around here run North-South and many of the roads wind East-West from valley to valley. Â The topography in this region is very steep. Â Great for mountain biking but bad for Winter driving. I am replacing this:
  10. Yeah, or start looking for a real GTO and pull the old switcharoo.
  11.  It's not my new ride yet but unless I am walking everywhere and driving the Z's in all seasons, It will be my car shortly.  I have 5 of them I need to see before I make the selection.  I do know it's going to be a 2006 330xi with the sport package and maybe nav and winter packages.  The sport package is a must.  I have three black ones, a gray one, and a red one lined up to test. My WRX turned into a stack of cash today.  I got my full asking price plus lunch. Â
  12. I commented: When he buys 12 spark plugs for his "Ferrari" what does he do with the six left over?
  13. ..and several things have broken since then and it is pissing me off. Â It's a good car but it needs someone with a fresh set of patience for it. Â My set has worn thin and it's taking my wallet with it. Â I won't get into dealer prices and ripoffs here because it will be called poor form.
  14. I was actually scared and I was only watching the video! Â That car is a beast.Â
  15. Believe it or not it's only a few coins more than a new 2010 Kia!!
  16. My WRX is no longer giving me that warm cozy feeling after 147,000 miles, and many uncomfortable trips to the dealer. Â I save my wrench time for my Z cars, not my daily drivers. Â So...I have the car sold, or at least a deposit on it and I have made the decision to pick up a used 2006 330xi Sedan 6-speed with Sport Package, Winter package, and Nav Package. Â It has 40K miles on it, and I can buy a warranty for an additional 100K miles. Â I am going to test drive it on Friday I hope.
  17. Where in Italy are you? Â There is a pretty active Z club in Switzerland. Â I know of only two S30's in Italy.
  18. It's OK Clive, I question you all the time! Apples to oranges.  Rubbing tire, hot weather, different dyno, different capo at the helm, different exhaust and intake.  Throw my G-tech in the car and see what that says.
  19. Time for BIG sparks that you can map!
  20. Ben, can it be some bounce in the dizzy shaft? Does it smooth out if you stay WOT? Might try damping the rpm signal in general setup in megatune. Lower the number. Try around 50 or less to test the theory.
  21. Â Scottie, I just did a 240Z tank that had no rust inside. Â I started with a clean, rust free tank but I wanted to coat it to fill any pinholes or hidden problem areas in the pinch seam. Â I used the KBS coating kit. Â The tank came out great. Â Even though it was clean to begin with, like yours, I used the full procedure. Â The process involves a 1-soap solution, 2-a zinc prep solution, and 3-the coating itself. Â Call KBS and ask. Â You may be able to skip steps 1 and/or 2 if your tank is good inside.Â
  22. For an R200, backlash should be between 0.0051 and 0.0071 inches. Â Check with a dial indicator tangent to the ring gear.
  23. This is just passing technology; as it all is. Â Something different will come, and habits will adapt.
