  1. Flat tops in a F54 block with a Maxima N47 head would yield some good numbers for you, about 10.5:1. My two cents is that this is not the best idea at your conditions. Good luck and I hope you find a good tuner!
  2. I'll trade you one for a long block:mrgreen:....please!
  3. If worst comes to worst you can weld up the puck and attach an external wastegate for more control. Sorry your still getting boost creep, I hope you get things squared out.
  4. Check out this thread. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=143124&highlight=HID
  5. Big Phil has and his problem was the whole being too small. Watch his video and try grinding it out. Pull the turbo out and see what you can mustard up.
  6. I have the ebay housing($35) with the ebay HID kit(5000k) but my housing have the black background. I have to say that there is terrible light spread and visibility is terrible. I also have 30% film on the front windshield to weaken my vision. If you have the money, invest in a good quality housing.
  7. Is there a recommended solder to use? I know there are many types such as rosin core, high tech rosin w/ silver, clear flux solder?
  8. These are all great tips! I will be changing the head gasket about a week in advance of installing MS. I am still feeling uneasy about the whole project as my knowledge is weak in this area. I am continuing to put in several hours a day in reading and home work to get the basics down. Luckily I have a friend with some tuning experience to help me out. I guess I just want to hear someone tell me it's a breeze and nothing to stress about. Thanks for the advice!
  9. Congratulations Doc! I'm glad everything is going smooth for you.
  10. I will install a wideband at the same time that I install the MS. I am going to use the stock relay board in my car, any advice on that? I have read that you can but is it easier/better to get one from megasquirt?
  11. How old is the waste gate? It might be leaking. Is it an internal wastegate? When you say "can" are you talking about the piece that attaches to the rod of the wastegate?
  12. I have soldered some in the past, it seems pretty straight forward. I do plan on tuning over a weekend just to be safe. How long did the wiring harness take you? I have been told to find a base tune from someone else to work off of so I am hunting one down that is as close to my specs as possible. I have all the sensors besides IAT so I should be good to go with that. In the mean time I am reading my eyes off to get familiar with the system.
  13. For some reason I thought there was a post on this last page that was relevent to this picture. Oh well.
  14. After waiting for some spare cash to buy MegaSquirt, I finally lucked out and sold my old stereo system. I posted it on craigslist for $400 yesterday and I sold it today. So here are my plans - -I will purchase MegaSquirt II 3.0 as soon as the money clears into my bank account which will be tomorrow. My birthday is at the end of the month so I will buy a Wideband O2 once I get the cash for that. -Purchase all the nick knacks for it like IAT sensor, wiring harness, stim, and tuning cable. I also need new injector plugs. -I need to lock out my timing so I can control it via MSII. -Replace my head gasket since I am pulling coolant through at idle from my number 3 cylinder. -Swap out my 240sx TB with one that has a trigger style TPS. Here is my setup - -1983 Datsun 280zx w/ 190k on the motor. -N42 intake manifold with 60mm TB. -300zx fuel injectors, I believe they are 220cc. -MSA 6-2-1 header running open 2.5" exhaust. What I want - I want to have the car in driving condition at least 24 hours after MSII install. This is my DD so I want a good drivable tune. I am feeling a little stressed about the whole project considering that I have never built an ECU before. Any words to calm me down about this? I will keep all of my updates posted as I go. Any thing missing here?
  15. John from JNJDragracing has been telling me about your Monte lately. Do you have any pics to post up?
  16. I'm sure most of my questions will get answered once I get the MSII and read the manual. Gothalosism, Did you not get wiring diagrams with your MegaSquirt?
  17. So your saying that you splice 1-3 injectors together and run it to the one wire? That is what I figured when I was doing my research. And then the grounds go where?
  18. Subscribed. As I too would like to know a bit more about that. MegaSquirt soon to come!
  19. Your best bet is to drill a hole in one of the ITB's (before the butterfly) and weld on a bung to thread in the IAT. It only needs to be in one of the TB's. What you need to figure out is where to connect your MAP sensor since it reads you manifold pressure. Create a vacuum rail/box that is hooked to all the ITB's after the throttle and run your MAP off the rail/box. Search for pictures of people's ITB setups and try and get a feel of how they set it up.
  20. It also uses an Intake Air Temperature(IAT) sensor to calculate the density.
  21. He got what he asked for. See, its that easy. If you want something, just ask for it.
