40% loss?! Umm no. Maybe with a 5K+ stall but not with anything you'd run on the street. Hrm, I don't feel so bad though as I saw 300RWHP without the secondaries opening up on my car. 383SBC with aluminum heads etc. through shorty headers and full exhaust. Cannot wait to go EFI with it...

Okay guys - friend of mine has a TPI he's dropping into a truck. Not sure of th eyear but we think it's a 305 and I see no cold start injector. Anyway, who makes the best TPI harness for a REASONABLE price? The OEM wiring harness he's got is a mess and we can barely make heads or tails out of it even with the JTR TPI book. Heeelp!

Mustangs are crap for going SC?! Kripes, what does that say for all the turbo Hondas?! I've seen a Cobra with bolt-ons make 500RWHP on the dyno but hey it's crap becaquse they decided to go forced induction. IT's amazing how some of these guys will justify their narrow point of view. Tell the guys who think Ford is crap for having done that that they better get used to Cobra tailights. For a couple hundred bux those things FLY and are underrated from the factory. I think they're just jealous....

Sorry, I'm against it. Call me old or whatever but I saw what it did to MY family. Father was into dope and getting high, I was a toddler and I STILL remember the parties he would have when my mother wasn't around. Eventually he moved into other drugs and my mother moved on too. My Dad still smokes some but that's mostly to ease the pain of cancer, he's probably hooked on moriphine now though actually. Overall I cannot be sure that drugs really "hurt" him but he never had any ambition, never tried to do anything challenging. He spent his time in jobs that let him just get by, just like more than a couple of potheads I knew in school. But hey, it's harmless right? Alcohol, I'm not too thrilled about that either to be honest. My mother died from it but not before she pretty much killed my invalid step-father, the state took custody when they figured out she was drunk 99% of the time and couldn't help him. I was long gone by this time mind you, when my mother lost her job due to drinking I had just managed to get out of the house. That wasn't before she had pretty much ruined Christmas for me - ever tried to open gifts at midnight with someone who's so drunk they can't walk? Wonderful memories guys oh and rehab didn't help either so don't go there. I don't know if alcoholism is a disease or an addiction but it DOES run in families like mine. Perhaps it's just addictive personalities that get caught up in this crap but if that's so then pot is just as bad for those kinds of people then isn't it? Call me a square but I don't smoke anything, don't like the stench of cigs, and I drink in bare moderation. Boring huh? Well by being clean I've been able to get an interesting job that requires that I be clean and trustworthy. My experience is that drugs in many forms aren't good for the public well being and given a chance I'll vote them down..... BTW - alcohol is ALSO a depressant, I'm surprised that wasnh't brought up in your school as it was in mine. Last I heard there were still quite a few chemicals in pot who's effects they still weren't sure of so. I love it when people claim it's from nature and is okay too - just like tobacco right?

Okay, I'll try to see what thickness the pad is. Heaven only knows how these people did it. I'm told that 4inches is the min for code around here so there's no telling. Worse comes to worse we jackhammer out where it goes and pour new concrete... Already got a hammer drill but not sure it would be up to the job.

Sure you could but if that sucker breaks loose those welds had better hold. Why not bolt it in with some sort of rust preventative on the bare metal and some undercoat under the flat stock? Big washers up top are a MUST BTW.

I did the 'glass MSA bumpers on my car - these are SWEET decently priced pieces. They do NOT provide any crash protection though but looking at the stock ones I didn't exspect much from them anyway. The cage is what will hopefully save my bacon...

Bought one from Summit for my car awhile back. Flat sotck, required about 8 holes are so in the pan. Worked out fine, no contact with the driveshaft.

Guys, supposedly some of the new cars being produced have this structural foam in them from the factory. The foam used in the Sport Compact article was the foam that was designed for use by bodyshops for the purpose of repairing those types of cars. There obviously must be foam for this kind of purpose that's "safe". BTW - the Dynamat spray in the can SUX. It's got such high pressure in the can the crap goes EVERYWHERE when you shoot it.

What's involved in bolting down the lift? I've been talking to my neighbor about my project this coming Summer, he says he can do it cheaper and with the barn roof I want - w/space above. A lift is 100% in the plan

The fuel system on his car, maxxed out, makes 500RWHP. At the boost levels he's running he's WELL over 500RWHP and he actually pulls back injector duty when the spray comes on. I'm going to be looking into this sort of setup myself this Summer. I'm hoping that warmer weather will bring TRACTION and will be looking for somehting to keep the temps down and octane UP 8)

Heh, I remember wqhen guys used ot give me grief for running EFI on my '88 LX. They all told me to go carb to go faster. How many of them are running EFI now Funny as hell to see them all come around to what I knew from the very start. Most of them STILL do not understand how it works though and do some pretty stupid stuff - I just shake my head...

Hrm, I drive a 500RWHP car daily, nothing at all wrong with that. Okay, I'll admit I park it when it snows and the streets aren't cleared but otherwise I do indeed drive it everyday It's also a bit heavier than a Z so it is indeed slower than a Z would be. That said - the car only makes 500+RWHP with my foot WOT and tached out. Most of the time I'm not in boost. Would I drive a 500RWHP N/A car? No way, it would be a gas pig and probably not very pleasant. A turbo car is much more docile than a N/A that needs all sorts of work to make that power. So, what's it like? Don't go WOT in the first three gears and be DAMNED sure the pavement is smooth, flat, and free of sandsaltcrap in 4th. I have ZERO doubt this car could get away from me if I wasn't careful. Right around 3700RPM power SHOOTS up and continues climbing until you let off the gas - it's linear past 4KRPM. That makes it a little easier to drive once things are spooled. Tires on this puppy are Nitto 555 in a 275 series. Come warmer weather it WILL get 555R DRs as there's no fun in spinning the tires and IMO it'll be safer. 550RWHP is what the car dynoed at and that was on a Mustang dyno with boost lower than I'd like to have run and they ended the run 1K RPM before redline with power still rising. With tuning and more boost I expect to make more power for sure but probably will have to run race gas or Methanol injection to do it. On the street that's probably excessive but if I can hook it I will cook it and simply lower the boost a bit for daily driving. I should be in the mid 11s pretty easily right now, in a Z this would be 10s IMO. I DO know of some Supra owners that can run 10s on a daily driver but you have to admit that's pretty sick in a street car with A/C. I'd agree with building a little less power, driving it, breaking it, and then maybe turning it up some. Turbos are great for tunrning the power down and then switching to STUN when needed Ask Scottie what it's like to drive HIS car. Make no mistake - he can burn the tires at will and he has to be careful - I've seen him do it. The lighter Z chassis makes 500HP a pretty sick fast proposition

One of the locals here has tried to use his smog dyno for HP numbers. Way off In this case it apparnetly only samples at a specific MPH or RPM. Who makes the dyno?

Would love to see other pics and pics of the 2JZ in other cars. I'm surprised at how many cars it's been stuffed in One of these days I'll find a candidate to put one in, the Z already has a motor though

Small cap here - I yanked the latch. Be SURE to remove the hook from the hood too or it will spike into the coil wire and give you fits. Ask me how I know Just put hood pins where the bumpers are now - it's cake. Drill out the spotwelds carefully and you won't even leave holes...

Ha! We're over a foot now and they say we're only halfway through! BTW - no refinance cost I think I may be able to get 5.1%. I'm about to do it and pull some equity to raise the roof on my garage I want a lift dammit!
