  1. Maybe he believes there are a lot of older members here that are hard of hearing?
  2. I'm not sure about 15's but the reason they aren't making larger sizes in 16" or 17" etc, is supposedly because there is no market for them anymore. I'm guessing they get a lot more requests for sizes in 15's as opposed to larger diameter wheels. I believe S130Z just tried to order some 16's and they said they no longer make 16x9 or custom sizes for larger diameter wheels.
  3. Not really, They haven't updated their site for a while but the biggest they make are 16x8 and 16x10, and its hard to find street tires that will fit a 16x10 wheel and they no longer build custom sizes either.
  4. I have friends that live 30 miles north of me and their school was canceled because of the temperature and its an alternative school. It's supposed to be a high of 0 degrees there tomorrow and a high of -3 and a low of -23 where I live and that doesn't include windchill but I was still surprised they would cancel due to the cold. When I lived in missouri we would get snow for a week or too or it would be -10 or below for a week straight and I never got a snow day for it.
  5. I'm guessing you have an earlier Z, but have you checked your Half-shafts? Those might be a possible cause. It's possible its your diff as well, I'm sure some more experienced Z guys will add their thoughts and Ideas.
  6. Couldn't that possibly create snow drifts?
  7. If you want a quick fix for a J-bolt you can just take an exhaust clamp and cut it in half or so that the "hook" end has enough curvature to stay inside the hole. It worked fine for me and its nice if you just have an extra laying around.
  8. I'm glad you decided to post this, These seems like a good alternative for you 280zx guy's and a cheaper one as well.
  9. I took a look at the specs for rota slip streams and all of them have way to much positive offset to be able to work with a Z safely at least on stock suspension. Even with spacers on stock suspension (which would have to be pretty big anyways) I wouldn't trust them. Most of those wheels in the lug pattern you would need for a Z the backspacing is around 5-6+" for a S30 you need about 4.5", It might be possible to run coilovers and make them fit, but it would be much easier to find a set of wheels that look similar but fit better as well.
  10. Would it be possible to run E85 on a L engine because of the Aluminum head? I think I have heard of people coating the combustion chambers on aluminum heads to be able to run it but would that even work I'm guessing coating it could slightly raise compression etc (Coating possibly break off inside engine?) Just something to think about.
  11. Once I get some hours where I could talk to them about it I would Do I get the snow in payments or bulk?
  12. Send the snow colorado's way, We need some at least down here in southern colorado. We haven't even got a foot its probably snowed once or twice. It sucks when your job depends on snow during the winter, No one buys snow tires if there is no snow.
  13. I believe I have a spare in the garage for a 280z 2+2, I have to check which side it is though and what condition it is in. EDIT: Sorry I have the passenger side, Good luck finding one. You could check with the member Burleigh I think his username is, I think he had or has a 2+2 parts car.
  14. Slownrusty's s130 has the Rota's as well and he talks about the modifications he had to do to make them fit in one of his threads as well.
  15. I believe the reason he is painting it that shade of green is because he had a 280zx that was a rare stock green, and obviously liked the color.
  16. I would just like to say that 170hp stock in new form is not correct, I say this because it was the SAE rating and the horsepower stock was closer to 130-150hp. If the car runs the way you like it and it pulls the way you like it then your good. I am not sure if there has been a lot of documentation about the improvement of the 4 barrel manifold etc, over properly tuned SU's etc. and I believe there is a older thread arguing both sides. Either way with some work both could be great improvements over stock just depends on what you like and are more experienced with. Next time someone asks you how the 4 barrel is over stock take them for a ride so they can tell and let you know the difference.
  17. The reason I am sticking with the L6 is because it has become sort of the norm to just swap in a V8 etc. and I like the challenge of making due with the L6 and I guess it could be a bit of a Nostalgia thing. I love the rough old sound of the Datsun L6 as opposed to the more smooth refined sound of newer L6's. If I wanted more power and speed I would buy a newer faster car, I like the Datsun because of its character plus it can make the amount of power I'm happy with, It sounds pretty sweet and has a decent aftermarket. I don't really have fabbing skills or a welder to be able to put in a newer L6.
  18. There is a ITB setup that you can buy from TWM that bolts straight to a Triple weber intake and doesn't require any modification to the intake, It may be cheaper then Extruddabody but I'm not sure.
  19. It's most likely a MSA air dam molded into some what looks like Arita Speed flares. I'm sure one of the Japanese product Guru's will chime in. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/85381-jdm-huge-fender-flares/page__hl__%2Bhuge+%2Bflares
  20. I hope you do make a post about what you plan on doing, it's interesting to me plus since you have a S130 it will be more of a first then if it was for a S30. I can understand how you feel about your thread, but I look forward to hearing or seeing what you plan to do.
  21. He has a choice to what he can like an not like no one is forcing him to denounce stretching his tires etc. the thing is I don't think the information should be shared if it is unsafe which IMO it is (powersliding over speedbumps, leaky fuel line, you get the idea).
  22. Cutting them can weaken the metal if the metal gets too hot, it takes a long time to cut with a hacksaw. They also don't sit the same way as well if you look at springs out of a car the last coil is made flat so it sits right when its compressed when you cut them you take away that "flat spot" and it can sit weird or cause problems, I know I tried to cut my springs and I had the suspension hanging in the air and it would squeak whenever I turned the wheel and only stopped until I installed the Eibach springs, Still have to buy wheels and tires and finish the suspension though
  23. Yes but it also says any Thoughtful modification, which stretching tires to extremes which you can't even do at a good reputable tire shop and reducing camber to make a tire and wheel to big to fit without correct modification isn't my idea and most likely the admins and moderators of this site idea of thoughtful.
  24. One of the reasons his thread was locked was because his "modifications" where causing some contention among members and also His modifications may be stylish but they are not performance orientated and are actually dangerous. Stretching tires against their built design is dangerous, also lowering a car that much is also dangerous for multiple reasons and I don't have to go into why they are dangerous as it has been covered before and explained as well. Plus who wants to buy new tires all the time because they wear out the inner edge of the tire while the rest of it is in good shape? Most people correct their suspension when their tires start to wear badly. You may have bought fender flares and Rotas for looks as many on the forum have but those mod's don't take away from performance and also have aided many members in helping put down more power with more tread. If PPK wants to add to the forum with some performance mod's for the S130 guy's I'm sure they would appreciate the new info, but otherwise if it doesn't add anything then it wouldn't be worth the trouble. Ratsun.net is a small forum for modding datsuns and is slightly more relaxed about modifications its not a very big forum but I know there are people their that also have slammed Z's.
  25. I think there is a sticky or a FAQ thread about it and it would help to know if you have a 280z or 240z, If you have a 280z you should be able to put 240z strut top hats to lower it a few inches 1 or 2" I think and also use 240z springs as well (check the sticky or search for correctness).
