Sure is Butthurt in here. If you have some nice modifications you are wanting to post just make a new thread and make it about those mod's so other S130 guy's can find it easier then if they had to find it in a build thread. Don't expect to bring something purposely aesthetic (that has no performance gains) to a performance orientated site and expect no one to think any different of it or take it willingly. I'm sure their would be some other Z sites that don't mind it, so why try to force it here when it would just be a waste of time?

You would need to run about 2 inch spacers to make them work, which is too much to be comfortable imo, Plus most tire shops won't touch a car with spacers.

Fitting 16x9 Wats under stock rear fenders

If you want the positive gains from a larger tire and wider wheel, what is the purpose if your going to negate those positive gains by stretching a tire and changing the camber to make it work? either stick with what you have or run some flares. 2 wrongs don't make a right. The reason most people on this forum don't like the stretched "look" is because it doesn't have anything to do with performance and is also unsafe because you are using something against what it is designed for plus you will have a hard time finding a reputable tire shop to put tires that are too small for the rims on your car. If you want to run wider tires and wheels just go with flares, its not that big of a job and can look just as good and then you have the added benefit of the right tire on a wider rim. -
Hybrid Z's paint jobs not loved everywhere....

Judging by this you couldn't run 10" rims with 0 offset on a s130 if the the backspacing is 4" on a S130.

I was wrong about them being from a S130, I read that the louvers were a factory option supposedly, I just normally have seen that style from a S130 so I assumed it was factory option or something. There are 2 types of the louvers the Inside the frame and the Outside the frame and I'm pretty sure the 280zx ones which are usually like the one in your pictures above will work on a s30. I did find this though while searching for pictures, Might help you on your search. http://www.sfxperformance.com/catalog/style/Exterior~Styling/Louvers/Datsun~Car/page_1.htm

I believe those specific louvers were made for S130's but they also fit earlier Z's that may help you on your search to find one and also help someone looking to sell to know where to look.

It shouldn't get in the way, It might though I haven't swapped a L28ET in before. Does your AC work or work well? when I took mine out it was bone dry from leaks over the years and didn't even have any left in it or at least barely any at all. If your AC is charged or works well, then you could probably get away with just moving it up on the framerail to get it away from the engine enough. It should be fine, the only problem I could think of would be the turbo, Maybe just remove the exhaust before you put the engine in? Hope that helps.

Looking for other 280zx tail light ideas

I think the guy is down to $1000 now for the pantera hatch. I will check, It might not even be around anymore haha. EDIT: the ad is no longer around but, Zforce is selling Pantera hatches, Not sure you want to deal with him but he is offering them. http://www.zforceproductions.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=58&Itemid=76 -
Offset is just a byproduct of backspacing, the important part is backspacing and then you apply that backspacing to the width of the rim you want and the resulting offset is just what you have. You want to adjust your wheels for backspacing not offset. There are lots of backspacing and offset calculators on the internet that you can use.

http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/82185-pictures-of-my-girls/page__hl__slownrusty Read through this thread, it should help you out some, but your probably going to have to do a lot on your own as well, If you figure out the appropriate backspacing for your car everything else should follow suit.

Get the right clutch the right time It would just be a waste to have to spend $82 then have to replace it down the road even if it may still be in good shape.

That might make a pretty cool swap into a 1600 roadster or some other small car heck even a VW bug that would be sweet and a lot more HP then stock.

Which gauges needed for L28ET and what size?
19762802+2 replied to dpuma8's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I don't know of the top of my head but I heard Google and Search are some good brands, You might just be able to look at some images on this forum for a guess of which types you might need. I'm not sure though. -
Is there ATVing areas like recreational parks in your area? If so I would go talk to the staff or owners and give them some pictures to look at and have them keep an eye out for it. I don't know if you have places like that where you live though, I know there is a few like that here in colorado. If someone stole it they are bound to use it or whoever they try to sell it too will use it somewhere. Maybe post some pictures on a ATV forum that is local to your area possibly? I bet they would have the best bet of who did it or have a chance of seeing them.

That should be fine the only problem they had with the 17x9.5's in the front in the Rota group buy thread is that they slightly rubbed the TC rod and the frame rail at full lock I believe. You will probably have to make a cut in the front valence or air dam for turning clearance with a 16" wheel and a slightly stretched tire you shouldn't have an issue and going with the 9.5 width you should be able to do fine with tires. There is a member here running 225's on 15x10's and the stretch isn't terrible but its at the limit of what I would want. 245's on 9.5 will have a light stretch which should help them fit under flares better without rubbing. Good luck and post some pics when you do it, I am interested on how it will look with 9.5 all the way around and how the fitment is. Just remember this is a Performance based forum and you will probably get flamed for wanting to go for an aesthetic appeal with the Stance look. Try to work on your grammar and spelling as well it makes life easier for everyone trying to read your posts. Merry christmas as well. -

Good luck finding any decent size tires for a 16" the largest they make is 265/50/16 street tire and thats only one brand of tire. I wouldn't run that much of a stretch either especially on CCW's just to ruin them with inevitable curb rash. I'm going with 245/50/16 (widest common street tire avaliable) and I'm going to run them on 16x9.5 Diamond racing all the way around and its going to have a slight stretch but that will be fine since I will be running flares. The 16x9.5 should clear your suspension fine, It should clear the stock so I think your fine if your running coilovers, the 10.5's may not fit, It would most likely have problems with the TC rod and the frame rail towards the front of the car. Also if your going to run the Bamf Fender flares you will need a pretty wide tire to fill them, IIRC the tire had to be 300+ in section width or atleast thats what Zforce recommended. Reading the Rota Group buy thread helped me get a pretty good idea what will fit a Z it has some good info on what works and doesn't. -
I just saw a thread a while ago about someone swapping some M30 suspension into a 280zx and it was pretty much bolt on lowered the car about an 1" and the guy said it improved the handling as well.

Need help with how to paint stripped shell
19762802+2 replied to Charles Patterson's topic in Body Kits & Paint
You don't have to do it the same as factory, you can do it however you like. But if your interested I would suggest asking the guys at Classiczcars.com they know more about factory stuff, Hybridz is more about modification and doing it your own way. -
I agree at idle there is a difference in the forces on the frame between a L6 and a V8, If you have ever watched either one idling you can see the difference. I'm not totally sure if that is the case during a hard launch or at speed. I haven't dealt with V8's enough to know for sure but I'm guessing that it still transfers a lot of force to one side only during a hard launch. Hopefully one of the more experienced car guys will chime in.

I would be scared to hit a bump and have the hatch come down and have the glass shatter over the engine lift. Otherwise I haven't had a lot in my s30 2+2 since it hasn't been driveable yet. I think the cargo space in the s30 may be slightly larger but I'm sure if you have the way and the will you can fit quite a lot in the back of any 2+2.

I think this thread needs a bump. I got a job a few months ago and I have been able to start buying lots of stuff for my 2+2, I sold my 75 2+2 rust bucket for a nice 76 2+2 shell with some rust repair and body work already done. I should have the car done by late April hopefully. The agenda now is saving up money to buy parts in large quantities I have the car running its mostly stock except for a Header and soon to be 2.5 exhaust and a Magnaflow muffler and some other small goodies. I modified the back seat to hold 2 speakers in the middle section, I have some Eclipse GS seats, They fit good the drivers side is a bit too offset towards the passenger side I have to fix that. Otherwise I'm working on putting in a 4 speed tranny finishing up the suspension (rear disks,Illuminas,Eibach springs,TC rod upgrade,Urethane bushings) I plan on buying some 16x9.5 Diamond racing rims in silver and going with some 245/50/16's with some ZG flares and lots of other little things. Here is a teaser pic of the current state its in. I will get some more pictures later.

Gauge replacement/wiring question

Download the FSM for your car off of Xenonzcar.com and check out the wiring diagram, that should help you to know what to do.
