Why did you decide to stay with the Datsun L6 motor?
19762802+2 replied to logan1's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
Well that was a major thread jack, went from staying with the Stock L6 to swapped motors, weight distribution, and autoxing. Tis the way of Hybridz I guess. -
Do my eyes decieve me or is this a Datsun based replica?

I'm guessing dirt and debris gets trapped under the fender and there is a small hole for the water to drain out but if it doesn't drain out because its clogged it just sits between the fender and the frame, right about where your rust is, It is interesting though because I bought a 280z from missouri once and it had some rust but nothing like that in that area, just mostly in the rocker panels, lower fenders, etc. but that is my guess that your fender just got clogged up and rusted.

I wouldn't consider your thread "noise" this thread will be good for guy's down the road that search for vibration issues. I know by seeing this thread I will for sure double check all my drivetrain bolts before I drive it.

Diamond Racing rims on a ZX(actually on)
19762802+2 replied to BluDestiny's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Eh, for the price I can deal with the weight. I plan on going with Rota's down the road for more street tire selection anyways and I will keep the DRW for if I go to the track and slap some racing tires on them. -

Well I work at discount tire so I get.. Discounts I guess. So I don't worry about tires too much. How much did the 16x10's cost and did you get to weigh them before you put them on? -

I'm totally going 16x10 all the way around now, Thanks for those pics and I had no idea they made 265/45/16's anymore. those 265's look good on their as well. Now just to save up some money. -
If thats true about the offset that would be around 6" of backspacing and a 280zx needs about 4" of backspacing if I remember correctly, someone else could confirm this but you would need like a 2" spacer/adapter to get that to work and also that would stick the wheel/tire out out pretty far and it may not even fit under the fenders. The reason it may fit on the S30 in the pic above is because for a stock S30 the backspacing needed is about 4.5 so they are probably using a 1 inch adapter. Personally I don't like adapters/spacers and most tire shops won't touch cars with them for a reason because they can be unsafe but its up to you. There is a difference between spacers and adapters. Spacers are usually fine since they are only a few mm thick most of the time but adapters are different and I have heard stories about them shearing off under hard cornering etc etc.

When I lived in Missouri my parents built our house with a wood stove in it, and we lived a mile or two from a woodmill and we would just go take the scrap wood they had (they said we could have it for free) we would get truckloads and truckloads of Oak,Maple,Sycamore, etc. We never would run out of wood, we would fill 2 sheds to the brim with wood in about a month and it would last for a few years. We did sometimes have to cut the wood down to size but most of it was 4x4" pieces about 12 inches long. Times were good

If you keep getting the same information in all of the threads you make you should heed the information. If you want to know how to fix it you have to learn about it, there is no reason to act like that. None of the guy's here feel like dishing out information that is already readily available. If you can't follow that advice then your not going to last here long as Admins and Mods won't put up with it forever. Just find all the info you can about SU's read it all and try to fix your carbs and if you have a question about something in the info just quote it and bring the question here and help will be given to those that help themselves.

Any info on this car?
19762802+2 replied to DeLorean's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
That would probably work fine as well, I mentioned the 50's because they are a more common size, I'm not sure if falkens or toyos make 225/45/16 I would check tire rack for options or go talk to a tire shop because I believe you can get tires the size you want from the factory but it takes longer to get them. With 50's you would be about 5mph faster then what your speedometer said and with 45's you would be spot on. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?width=225/&ratio=45&diameter=16&x=97&y=9 There are some choices for 225/45/16 -
Or you could go one step further and burrow out a living space and turn off all the power in the house.

Well 9 inches is 228mm and 9 inches is usually to the outside of the rim so a 9 inch rim is closer to 8.5 between the beads so 225 is definitely doable and since I'm guessing you will be going with a 16" rim you would probably have a 50-55 side profile which helps make the stretch not seem as bad and give you slightly more protection if you buy the right style of tire, such as Falkens which have a pretty beefy bead protector. Here is a 15x10 with a 225/50 Kuhmo and its not that excessive of a stretch, but it would be the limit that I personally would do. -
Rattle Can / Spray can paint job: Which brand to use
19762802+2 replied to JSM's topic in Body Kits & Paint
I bought some Rustolem Semi Gloss black and some Rustolem Red Rust protection primer, I can't remember how much I bought exactly I think it was 5 cans of primer and I had 1 or 2 left over and maybe 10-ish cans of semigloss and it covered everything pretty good, sanded it slightly and now it needs another coat but so far it was $60 for what I have done so far and it looks decent, I just have to do some small body work get the fender flares do another coat and it should be good to go until I go with a real paint job down the road. -
TWIN TURBO L28ET BLOW THROUGH CARB !
19762802+2 replied to the-sleeper-z31's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
You have to flip it upside down and lather it in JB weld for it to be able to handle it to an extent. -
Or you could find a beat up 2+2 for cheap which would have tons of room for gear, When I moved I had to stuff a 2+2 twice so we could get everything there (I wasn't driving it, it was being towed) but I fit a lot of stuff in the back after folding down the seat. I can't wait to take my Z camping sometime, maybe I will buy a roof rack as well . I can't wait to see the faces of people driving jeeps, SUVs, etc. when I am driving up a mountain road to go camping in my Z.

With coilovers 9" rims with the right offset and a 245 width tire, fender rolling (maybe trimming) and you could probably do it. also I saw a post about the picture in your first post by the guy who owns the car and he is running 16x7 panasports on the track and 16x8.5 watanabes on the road but I believe he is also running s13 suspension as well. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/87272-post-pics-of-your-zs-here/page__view__findpost__p__917596 -

Sure none of them have died, or at least you haven't heard about it, but what happens when your bead pops off because it was stretched beyond safety requirements by tire manufacturers because you hit a pothole, or your tire blows out because your tire was slightly low on air causing it to run on the sidewall (which does not have steel cord and can ripe apart easily at high speed, high temperature etc.) and it blows out you lose control because you don't have the contact patch you should have and you slide into a group of kids or another car on the road. How are you going to explain to your insurance company that you caused an accident because you thought the tire looked good stretched. Are they going to give you any money to pay for the damage if they knew it was your fault? Sure their are lots of variables and different ways this could happen but why chance it? You can do whatever you want but their will always be a consequence for your action. Its been debated thousands of times of stretched tires are unsafe and a unwise choice. I would just rather drive safely and within the requirements of my tires because I don't feel like risking my life or others for a "look" that has no performance gains. -

19762802+2 replied to DeLorean's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
It doesn't have anything to do with looks, its about safety and going against a tires manufactured design. The correct tire for a 9 inch wheel would be about 235-255. If you stretch a tire on a rim you run the possibility of ruining a rim with curb rash and having the tire fail which could also ruin you wheel. The reason most tires on watanabes you see are stretched is because there isn't a large selection of wide 16" tires anymore, or people can't afford the "closer to right size" tire or any other number of reasons such as trying to get a wider rim to fit under stock fenders without correct modification. If a tire shop won't put a tire on a rim because its to skinny or warn you about it before they do it or make you sign a waiver there is a reason you shouldn't do it.
