  1. If you have troubles with the Oil pick up just unbolt it and slide it out with the oil pan, I think the Guy at Zgarage covered this in one of his pages.
  2. Did you use 240/260z style turn signals to fill in the bumper area on the front? Maybe some more pictures? Your car is also a 2+2 right?
  3. Thats what I have heard about the Dual carbs, Being better then the stock PICT, and like you I was going 65 tops when I got 35, On the journey home I did about 70-75 and I got 21mpg. I have no idea what has been done to my motor though. It was "rebuilt" five years ago and my parents didn't ask what had been done but so far I have found the heads are Gasket ported and it has the earlier 3 bolt cam gear on it (not fun to find out when you ordered a oil pump/filter that took a week to ship) and I believe it is a 1600CC motor.
  4. I DD a 1973 Super beetle, It has its quirks and i'm running Dual Kadrons but the parts are super cheap and the gas mileage is decent depending on how I drive it. I get about 35 on the highway and about 15 in the city (not sure on that since I have tuned it since then and I drive it hard ) and I drive maybe 6 miles a day back and forth to work otherwise it is a pretty awesome bullet proof DD until I finish the Z. I have been thinking about selling the Beetle and buying a Volvo 240 Wagon turbo, I have always had a soft spot for any kind of wagon plus something like this would be pretty cool.
  5. I work at Discount tire and my buddies aren't Fans of Kuhmos They aren't the best all around tire, They swear by Falken ZE512's as cheap performance tires and I trust them, Different Kuhmo styles will be different but I have ridden in my buddies Mustang with Kuhmos and he doesn't get much traction and they take a while to heat up to a good temp. My friend had some Ecsta's on his Escort and he said they were really noisy and wet traction was terrible. I've heard Michelin Pilot Sports A/S are very good tires as well. Michelin's tend to keep in balance and wear far better then other tire's such as BFG's.
  6. A L24E from a Maxima made into a turbo motor might be pretty cool as well Maybe a LD28 Turbo?
  7. Well his car is a 260z so its possible that this happened from the factory, What month was your 260z made? Also this is something to consider when ordering the coilover setup you should probably measure your strut tubes to make sure if you have 280z strut tubes or 240z strut tubes.
  8. Hey, Tony I heard or read somewhere that 75-76 N42 blocks are desirable because of nickel content or something similar? I can't remember exactly what was said but I was wondering if this was true or not and Also that the N42 blocks have more material around the Cylinder bores, So its possible to bore them out more? Also I thought that the F54 block was designed for Turbo applications because its ability to cool better or is this debateable? I should probably read through my "How to Modify Your Nissan/Datsun OHC engine" book a few more times..
  9. Where are you located? Do you need just the pistons or do you need Rods too? I have some Dished pistons from a 75 N42 block, Should be exactly the same, the rings may be different but they are in good shape 130,000 miles on them.
  10. F54 has "siamesed" cylinder bores. or additional webbing supports were cast between the cylinders 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, They were also slightly different when it came to cooling the F54 block has a few more coolant passages.
  11. Geez for that price you could swap in a Subaru STI motor have more power and have money left over.. http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=20519
  12. a 280z dash may fit a lot better then a 240z dash as well.
  13. I hope those are ITB's I spy, Do you have a driving/ rev video? I would love to see it not a lot of videos of ITB L28's. How does the car drive as well?
  14. I'm 18 and I drive this to work everyday, Handles awesome, gets decent gas mileage (when I drive it easy) in town and gets 35 on the highway. Its a pretty awesome (and super cheap) daily driver at least till I finish the Z. The sound from the Dual Kadrons is definitely better then some honda and this car only cost me $650
  15. Man I need to stop tinkering on my beetle so I can get my Datsun finished before you. That dash looks awesome by the way, I need to fix up my spare and sell it. Also there is a 240z on craigslist and he has some floor pans and other body parts if your wanting them and don't want to have to deal with shipping, maybe he will part some of it out.
  16. I think those wheels and tires look awesome I love the old school muscle car look with the wide sidewalls and white lettering, I plan to do something similar with my 2+2
  17. I would keep it here or at least if you start a new thread link this thread to that one and the new one to this one and skim over what has been done etc. But in my opinion it would be nicer to keep it all in one thread, Easier for someone to go through everything in one thread then read 2 threads.
  18. those tires look ancient. On another note you may have problems finding someone to mount tires on 3 piece wheels as they can leak air through seams and can tear up the bead on the tire if not installed correctly. Too bad they don't make any BFG's in that size anymore, you could always have some skinner pieces made for the wheel.
  19. Why use suspension that is older and designed for a slightly lighter car? I'm not sure but I believe the 280z suspension is slightly beefier as well. Also it would be a pain to put all the suspension on just to have the car too low to be manageable. I know you can swap the strut top hats on the rear to lower it slightly but I would just try the springs first and if your not happy with it just buy the right springs.
  20. So when do we get a driving video to hear that sweet intake sound? I have been inspired by you and Z-ya and I'm building a similar intake to use when I go Megasquirt.
  21. +25 on a 9.75 inch rim will not fit on stock suspension on a Z. Thats 6+ inches of backspacing, With coilovers and maybe spacers it might be possible but no way on stock suspension as it requires 4.5 inches of backspacing.
  22. A little update with some information on my 2+2 tokico springs my car sits 2 feet 2 inches in the front on both sides and 2 feet 2.5 inches in the back on both sides. I also don't have a transmission in at the time so it may sit a smidge lower in the front, otherwise stock suspension except for TC rod upgrade from MSA and bump steer spacers.
  23. This would be normal where I live , There is a Chevy Suburban limo that has a Camper top the full length and about 20 doors on each side. I have to take a picture sometime. Otherwise if I ran a Limo service I would use that Limo in a heartbeat.
