  1. Appreciate the suggestion. I'm running Ross's coilovers and rear brakes on my car. I'm researching CV options in the 5 bolt pattern from the N/A z32. I've got a Nismo CLSD intended for that car. Everything will fit just like any R200 LSD, except that this is a 30 spline unit (The LSD came with 30 spline output shafts). So I'm looking for ways to make that work. Ross hasn't answered either of my two emails about options for this particular combo. I don't think he's interested.
  2. Really getting some good information in here now. Thanks Beck I'm looking for something that will stand up to high horsepower and track use. So from the sound of it, this combo isn't going to work.
  3. Thanks for the info. I'm thinking it's time to dive back into the EMPI catalog and see what other options might be available.
  4. If you don't have any significant rust issues then I'd say you did very well.
  5. Any subscribers have their copy yet? I've been hoping to see it in my mailbox every day since I got that email.
  6. That does help. Confirms some of what I've been reading lately. Those angles are still greater than what U-joints can handle, no? These joints will probably wind up closer to one another than the stock u-joints, so there's another thing to measure.
  7. The noise is incredible even on video. Can't wait to hear what it does on the dyno.
  8. I've bought two of these 80-4703 axles to play around with. It's very easy to make two axles into one with the 5 bolt tripod both ends. The only real "modification" that's required is to cut a snap ring groove into one end of the axle. I still need to take measurements to see if making an outboard adapter is feasible. Not sure about running tripods on both ends though. Doesn't seem to be something people do much and I suspect there's a reason for that...
  9. The rb26 is really cool, but I'd go LS1. It has a huge US support and english-language following online. LS1 + turbo + z32? Yes, very much yes.
  10. I swear I had something clever to say about this car, but all at once it was washed away by a wall of lawyer-speak... Very cool and very, very weird car. Sounds fantastic.
  11. Am I making a mistake putting together half shafts with tripod-style joints at both ends? Based on information from this thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=143201 I purchased two of those Pathfinder front axles. After partially disassembling both of them I have confirmed that it's entirely possible to construct axles with the 5-bolt flange on both ends. The most difficult part is cutting a new snap ring groove on one end of the axle. Other than that, the whole process is very simple. From what I've found online, the s130t axles have the uncommon trait of using a tripod joint on the outboard side. Most everything refers to tripods as the inboard side of an axle with a "real" CV (Rzeppa?) joint outboard. So would it be a problem to use the tripod for both the inboard and outboard joints?
  12. Found another gallery of this car. This one has a few pics taken during the build. http://carsbyexotic.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=thumbnails&album=16
  13. I was amazed at how much effort they went to in order to avoid mailing another plastic center cap. Probably wouldn't have cost them more than $5. So much for the shipping insurance.
  14. Bought some RB-Rs from them a while back. Service before the sale was great. Shippng was prompt. One of the center caps was crushed during shipping. I tried to get a replacement from them for 4 weeks with no success. I got half a dozen different stories, but never got the replacement.
  15. Then it's probably grabbing contextual info from the page the way AdWords does. I've got that same eBay ad with a list of 240sx listings right now.
  16. Cookie-based behavioral targeting. Very common in online advertising these days. http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/03/making-ads-more-interesting.html To reduce the amount of this you're seeing, block 3rd party cookies. In your Safari preferences, go to the Security tab. In the cookies section "Accept cookies:" select "only from sites I visit."
  17. For that, I may have to make an exception. I didn't know Pontiac made a wagon! And I'll amend my statement about GM vehicles. I'm not going near a new GM anytime soon. Certain parts of a GM car from early in this decade are destined for my Z.
  18. The Solstice and the G8 GXP were cool cars. Too many years of being Chevys with pointless glued-on plastic crap destroyed the brand. I really wanted a G8 GXP, but no way I'm going near a GM vehicle any time soon.
  19. Great info! Thank you hughdogz & NZeder! So the remaining issues are the 5 bolt flange clearance and overall shaft length? I'm this --><-- close to tracking down and purchasing the required parts. I found those EMPI pathfinder axles at autopartswarehouse.com for $100 each (no core since they're new parts). No experience with that company though.
  20. Yup. That's the only ad I've run into that's doing this. And I've spent a fair amount of time clicking on various threads to recreate the issue.
  21. For Safari users, check out Safari AdBlock: http://safariadblock.sourceforge.net/ And Firefox users, go to "Add-ons" in your "Tools" menu. An add-on called "Adblock Plus" was at the top of my Recommended list. If not I'm sure you can find it pretty easily. I just installed both of these and all of the ads on HybridZ have gone away. Problem solved.
