  1. I have come upon some bumps, or what could be bumps in the road.... Well, I know alot of you have seen pictures of my car and know the kit combo I chose for my car. I am beginning to reconsider my options, and considering NOT keeping the cal z rear kit. Havent been very vocal about it on hbdz so I thought I would lay it out. In one way I am drawn to the uniqueness of the rear cal z body kit and in another way I've come to believe that this kit if more trouble than its worth. Seems like the pros of the kit is getting smaller and smaller in my opinion. Pros- Unique look (at this point the only pro I can think of with the type of car that it is) Cons- Wheel Wells need to be refinished, I know, what alot of you guys have said is true and cutting them back to run a wider tire Why do I need such a wide tire? If I get the wheel wells fixed and swap the suspension out to coilovers I could run like a 14-15" wide tire. Remember this car will be street driven mainly and only taken to the track every once in awhile Upon further investigation I am figuring out the look on the rear of the car really doesnt match the front of the car Can only use 2 types of spoilers to make it looks decent and not riced, either a touring wing or a whale tail. As much as this car is already a cop magnet a racing wing screams send me to jail for street racing. It just seems like it's taking more trouble to make it look right than its worth. And as for the rear kit I am moving towards would be the subtle z rear flares. Pros would be- Much broader choice in spoilers Not have to spend ALOT of extra money getting a custom made wheel and a custom made tire. Not worrying about how the wheel wells appear through the "vents" on the rear kit. (in my opinion this cheapens the look of the car and borders upon rice) Would match my front fenders Cons- Have to take off my old rear kit... would have wasted time Am I totally off? Am I on the right track? Remember this is a STREET car not a race car.
  2. How much hp do you think he's pushing? http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=52691092
  3. Wow thats one rough looking car... Would probably be better to buy a porsche than to spend all that money restoring it and labor.
  4. A job well done... One question, Are you running wheel spacers? Or is that a hub replacement with an increased offset? Those wheels look like they are high offset and they stick out...
  5. That intake is hand polished aluminum... no coating or anything there. Hand polishing is so hard as I am doing it right now with my intake. I have spent hours on it and there are still scratches.

    20" tires

Your putting 20" rims on a z? Any pictures?
  7. Not sure if this is a repost but thought I would share. Kinda cool color, not so cool quarter window delete. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-1974-Datsun-260Z_W0QQitemZ290299442424QQcategoryZ6187QQcmdZViewItem
  8. If your wanting to make a z more of an exotic luxury type car... get LOTS of sound deadener and insulation. If you do that and replace the weather stripping you should get tomb like silence in the cabin area and no leaks or fumes. It'll ride like a caddy or BMW. Sound deadener and luxury insulation isnt cheap though and adds weight. But if your looking for something more streetable comfortable and exotic, go for it. Try it out. You can do ANYTHING if money permits. You want a z exterior with a luxury interior? Look into deadener. Want to quiet your car down? Get a silencer or muffler. I posted a thread awhile back about deadener. Second skin makes some good products. I have their damplifier pro but havent installed it yet.
  9. See you dont know the trick... When you see a cop start rolling down your windows... or if you suspect to get cop attention and you have illegal tint, keep your windows rolled down. This is where its nice to have power windows. I dont know about CA but in kentucky some people have said they just tell the clerk when they go back that it's fixed and they dont check it. I'm sure theres probably other ways to get around it, I just dont know about them...
  10. I was looking at polishing mine but it is ALOT of trouble. It isnt easy! Takes Weeks!
  11. Hmm suprised nobody has said this yet... but... REPOST!
  12. Vipers get more of a rise out of me than vettes... But accually I pay more attention to a heavily modified import than I do a stocker american. Not saying all vettes and vipers are stock... but most of them are just status symbols.
  13. Oh dude, the projects not even done yet... Still have suspension work and I've been wanting an LSD...
  14. You guys are starting to bring back my second thoughts I've had over the years.... now 25k deep I look back like most of you others have. But I look at it like this... Ive already started it... so why not finished it. You guys need to stop talking like this... your even discouraging me. I wouldnt go for a vette though... I would probably go for a MK IV supra or a nsx..
  15. Yup, Not me though. I suck at welding... Everytime Ive tried I've welded like 2-4 cm above or below where I'm wanting to weld.
  16. Here's some pictures of the intake I'm working on... Its polishing out so well I think I might just polish it for now... And yes that blob you see near the throttle body is an unground weld... I need to get to grinding that.
  17. Yup... yeah it will be interesting lol. I'll see how it treats alot of the upgrades I'm making...
  18. Lol you guys arent playing the game right! Hugh your suppose to be talking about austins car... and then the next person that posts talks about your car and posts a picture of their car and so on
  19. SEARCH! You'll find some good reading on this issue.
  20. I plan to send the intake off to get the runners ported...
  21. Alright researching the fitments of the bigger 240sx throttle body to the N42 280z intake I have figured out that the intake needs to be ported. But it cannot be fully ported on the right side?! http://www.graytechsoftware.com/garage/tbs_inst_port.asp My idea is to maybe tig weld some aluminum here on the right red line Smooth it off and then this will allow the intake to be fully ported for the throttle body. Would this hold boost well? Seems like it would allow for more air to enter the intake.
