  1. Okay here is my list of mods first; S2 RB25det stock internally t3/t04E .63ar stage three wheels 550cc injectors Aeromotive fuel pump with pallnet fuel rail Tial external gate Front mount IC Apexi Power FC with datalogit software. Zeitronix wide band. Exhaust is 3" all the way back including a high flow cat. ACT sprung 6 puck (NOT slipping) Blow through Z32 maf HKS blow off valve (upstream, so if its leaking it would only effect spool). This is all in my S14 240sx. Here is my trouble. This damn car runs differently from day to day. Today, its feeling like running rich. Yesterday a/f was golden. It never seems to run lean. I street tuned this car. Some days I can tromp the throttle anywhere in 2nd gear and roast the tires. Some days when its feeling down on power it just pulls hard (which is accompanied by black smoke in the rearview from exhaust). Engine operating temps don't seem to have an effect. They don't move much. Ambient air temperature really does not have an effect either. Does anyone have any suggestions as to whats going on? I need to get this thing to a dyno but I don't want to go with it being so inconsistent. This swap is about 2 years old now. I have not rigged up a boost leak tester yet. I have no source of compressed air in my apartment so that sucks. Thoughts? suggestions? Thanks guys - Evan
  2. From what I have heard on other forums, the RB20DET heats up the engine compartment more then the RB25DET does. I really don't have any cooling issues now. A single pusher fan is what I am running with stock KA radiator. I do need to get a better radiator at some point though. IMO the reason they get so hot in an S14/13 chassis is lack of space and frontal area for air to get to the radiator. Evan
  3. Well just be glad your importer didn't tell you to piss off. Not having that stuff will make mockup much easier. I did mine with no crank in the block. Made it a bit lighter. When I did my L28 build, I mocked up with no internals. Evan
  4. I heard that line, and cracked up. I also loved the pigs ear down the garbage chute for bryan. Evan
  5. Looks like janky casting. Why not just have it fixed? There has to be someone who can weld that right? It would be worth a little money not to have to redo all your nice grinding work. Evan
  6. Ill speak for the power FC setup with Datalogit software. I have it in my car. Plug and play is freaking awesome, my car is a driver and I did not want to go full standalone. If datalogging etc is a concern, get the datalogit software. That was one of the best investments I have made. I would buy it again. AEM is what like 1600 bucks? After all was said and done (I got my FC when they were easy to find) I have almost 500 less in this system. Evan
  7. I read freshalloy from time to time..... there are a group of guys who really know whats going on. Problem is that its often a pissing match with the elitists. Don't let tyndago get under your skin. I don't post there. Or anywhere really.. Evan
  8. Scotty, very impressive. My car was blowing off I/C pipes like freaking crazy. I sprayed the metal pipes with aqua net and put the couplers back on. I don't know how long it will hold up but no more problems. It will probabally be a total mother to get back off. Evan
  9. Booztd, sucks about the cam gears man. Are there any fueling mods that need to be done for E85? Or just a tune? Evan
  10. I vote JB weld. I have an HKS knockoff blowoff valve that I just put on my car. It has the goofy HKS mounting style with the snap ring. I didn't want to buy the damn thing just to run a cheapo knockoff valve. I took apart my turbo XS (POS is more like it, it leaked), and used the inlet from that. Epoxied last night. Running 17psi today no problems. Evan make sure and prep the surface well and you will be rewarded with a very durable repair.
  11. Seems like your wasting time being concerned about exhaust flow instead of getting home. bolt on your old header and go. It will work fine until you get home. Evan
  12. I also moved my harness like shown above. My 240sx seems to have less room in the engine compartment and that opened up a couple inches. Evan
  13. Looks good. How much do you think it will weigh in at? Evan
  14. there is a pretty extensive list of crossover parts on either nicoclub.com in the RB section, or racebread. Evan
  15. I know the s14 cable is the longer. I dont remember which KA is which. Evan
  16. My car coming out of third gear with the stock infiniti J30 rearend is right at 100mph fyi.. Your def. geared low lol. Looks like fun though man. evan
  17. what year cable is that? the dohc 240sx motors used a longer throttle cable. Evan
  18. If I am not mistaken there are some build threads that will give you a good idea of whats involved. Best of luck. Evan
  19. An interference motor is a problem if you break a timing belt. Pistons will crash into the valves. Some motors are not like this, but it seems to me that most are interference type. Evan
  20. yeah its possible. However, I would guess that if the interference was severe the motor would have bound up. Easiest way to tell is to reset timing properly and do a leakdown or compression test to verify you didn't bend a valve. Evan
  21. Nice first post LOL. The motor is just the beginning of a swap man. Start reading everything you can on the forums about the motor and whats required for the swap. Search button is your friend. Evan
  22. I know the 20/25 are. I dont think the 26 would be different. Evan
  23. Sounds obvious, but I watch Craigslist in my area like a hawk. Some good deals to be had there. Specific sources, how about walmart? They have tools right? lol Evan
  24. I had a body shop for a year or so. We cooked a used porter-cable. Not the compressors fault I am sure. Musta been something else. I ended up dropping 3300 on a snapon unit. Big red was the maker. I had good luck but the atlas mentioned sounds really nice and quiet. I also worked in a car audio shop with a good sized puma unit, was fine for what we did. We almost killed it too. I had a porter cable at tweeter. Funny thing, at both jobs I was the ONLY one who maintained them EVER. Nobody bled tanks or changed crankcase oil. Blew a line in the middle of the night and the compressor ran straight for 12 hours or so. I thought it was dead, it smelled like it had burnt up totally. I have no real useful info, but just wanted to tell you to turn off the compressor when not in use! Protect your investment. Evan
