  1. Finally getting around to the car again. i got a new parking brake bracket from Woza awhile back. I have to pull my hubs to install, but my bearings have almost zero miles on them since I upgraded the stub axles. Can I get away with just doing a R&R and skip the handful of grease? I know, just being lazy...
  2. Thanks again. I'll try a 25' foot for both and hopefully won't need more. Next up, wiring questions! 🙂
  3. Going to redo my brake line and fuel line at the same time. Anyone know how many feet I am going to need? I am going cunifer for both and want to make sure I don't need to pay double shipping. They come in coils of 25 feet. Thanks.
  4. Shame they never kept developing this engine. So far I've never heard a bad inline 6 sound. The L looks pretty impressive compared to this build tho, considering its down half a liter (on a 3.1) and still makes more oomph. Especially in the torque department.
  5. I came across this solution I may try for the holes in my car
  6. Nice, how much does that usually cost? I'm saving my N42/N42 setup in my stash but just clearing out my now defunct turbo build.
  7. Another unused item taking up space. Motor spins and bores look relatively clean. Has the chain, timing cover, water pump, pulley, oil pan, and motor mounts. Thanks.
  8. I'm in Los Angeles. I was thinking of selling local so I don't need to figure out the boxing of it.
  9. What is the going price for these now? I picked up an RB so I'm looking to clear out some space. They are in decent shape, but haven't been rebuilt.
  10. That is probably about 124 mph faster than I ever intend to go in a Z
  11. Awesome, thanks for the info. I'm going to steal your idea for an access panel in my spare tire well. As for pickup, I'm going to try the Holley Hydramat. It seems to work really well- like it will drain your tank literally dry from some accounts. FYI I heard there was a recall with that pump. I don't know when you bought it, but they seem to have a leak right where the fitting meets the plate at the top. Apparently a bad batch that was misthreaded. If you get a mysterious leak when you start it up, thats probably what its going to be.
  12. Is it necessary to mount the unit that high up since it picks up from the bottom? I was looking at this install mounted on the lower part.
  13. Will a vacuum signal from the intake be reliable enough to work an evap can valve if I mounted it near the gas tank? I'm probably going to replace it with a smaller unit. It would be nice to get that can of the engine bay. I know some people just plug it, but I think its worth keeping around to avoid any of the other issues. I'm converting to EFI so I will be putting new hardlines already.
  14. Good test video of some extreme tubing. Makes me wonder how the plug-side turbo L engine guys response would drop since the tube isn't nearly as long.
  15. Thanks for the heads up, I'll send him an email.
  16. Thanks for the link, I did a search but I didn't see those. I'll look into what goes into the conversions, but having a ready made kit is very tempting.
  17. Does anyone have any direct experience with the electric power steering units out there? Specifically Z Power steering vs Silver Mine. I know one is cheaper but I'd rather 'Buy once, cry once'
  18. These are the rip off of the wider marugens, and I have the real ones now. Its a 295 in the rear, but theres more than enough room to squeeze a 315 back there. 17x10.5's right now. Prob could've gone as far as 11.5 but that would prob be the limit with this offset.
  19. Thanks for the feedback guys. Hey AydinZ71, I see you're in LA too. Did you do the tune yourself or did you go to a shop? I'm looking for a reputable tuner that's local. Any recommends would be appreciated.
  20. It's been awhile, but it's time to start moving forward with my build. This will be a 'warm' turbo build. Not looking to win the HP wars. Currently I have a bin of parts for a motor that I'm going to load on a pallet and ship off to the builder. I have no ECU or ignition yet. I am looking up aftermarket ECU's and was wondering how far you guys with stand-alones (megasquirt, etc) have tuned the car's manners and how much work was it. I looked at the JWT 300zx upgraded ECU, but I am not sure if I will just end up with a completely remapped system anyway. While I would like power, I also want a OEM-like manners if possible as this car will be 90% street. I'm only asking because of comments I've read from people like Mark Rolston who did VQ swaps but chose to keep their OEM ecu's for the reason I am stating above. I realize there is prob a chasm of tech between a z31 piggybacked ECU and a G37HR reflash but I figured it can't hurt to ask 🙂
  21. Doh, must've missed that post.
  22. I came across this today when I was browsing the youtubes. Not sure if he is a member here or on the facebook group. I really like how the sound of the exhaust has changed, that's always been my only gripe with the L turbo motors.

    Inline 8

Bringing the thread back for an update from Russia https://jalopnik.com/heres-what-happens-when-you-bolt-two-inline-four-engine-1832897629
  24. I agree. I wonder how long a coating like this would last under the valve cover. My guess is not very.
  25. Neato, but I foresee some leaks in the near future
