  1. That is frigin cool!!!! Oh oh.. I think I'm a redneck!!
  2. Oh?!? well.. Your mother was a hampster and your father smelled of alderberry!!!! Feche le vasch... (sp?)
  3. I hear we're suposed to get some of that up here again to.. It's been REALLY nice lately, and almost all the banks/ice have melted to les than half what they were.. I can acttualy SEE when backing out of my driveway again!! I was geting all excited to take the Z out too:...cry:
  4. Well it doesn't really matter... it STILL couldn't have lifted that coconut.. and it's NOT a matter of 'grip' either..
  5. I thought this might happen with this thread, which is why I added this statement right at the onset. Anyway.. about the weight issue.. heh.. For the record, I have gone over weigh scales with my dually and it's just under 7000 pounds. EMPTY! How's that for shear power optioned/crash protected extra weight?!? There may be some hope though.. I was just checking out autotrader, and it seams that my truck is probly worth anywhere from $4000-$10000!! I'm gona see what I'll have to spend on it to 'fix her up' a bit and may be able to pull some decent cash for it.. (needs a little... TLC. It's been a rough winter!) Hell.. my Boss is a cheep bugger and even HE is considering giving me $3500 as is! Might work a deal with him to put a flatbed deck on it, and he'll finaly have a REAL work truck..
  6. That was friggin priceless!! Stupid stupid stupid... looks good on that dink to be plastered all over the net, not to mention photochoped.. heh heh heh..
  7. Well, I want better milage than what I'm getting, but I still need a TRUCK... so a civc is definatly out... maybe a VW rabit pickup? (good luck finding one up here!) The toyota trucks are definatly tough, but my boss's 93 V6 4x4 is kind of a headache (lots of little things going wrong, creaks and groans, the body is returning to nature, ect) and honestly, I can't stand driving it.. the seating position, wheel, and control's layout just doesn't sgree with me, and the shifting is cruddy/notchy. His wifes 4 runner has the 4 cyl and it's a DOG to drive. Doesn't have enough power to get out of it's own way! I have been in a few 4 cyl Nissans and they seam to have a little more 'uhmph' to them... even the autos.. oh, there's another question.. do the 4 cyl Nisan autos have simmilar issues as some of the V6 trucks? My V6 auto was decent, but I sold it at around 160k so who knows? (basicaly they puke out and die if worked/reved out a lot from what I've heard..?)
  8. SURE!! I'll take two please!! Only problem with that, is I forgot to mention I'm in the $3-5k range for price.. not likely to find a Dodge dually THAT cheep!!
  9. Ok.. so now the price of REGULAR gas has hit $1.07 a liter up in my neck of the woods.. For most of you guys in the states, that's roughly.. $4+/gallon?!?!?!? Really absurd seeing as it was only $.87/liter 2 weeks ago.. (around $3.20/gallon?, still high as far as I'm conserned) Seams like after Katrina the $ hikes have just kept comming.. and ussualy, with no apparent cause... it's pretty bad that in the short time I've been licenced to drive (11 years) I've seen the price of fuel more than DOUBLE.. Not making a politcal statement here, just stating the numbers.. ANYway, my 91 4x4 454 powered dually is just killing me in the fuel department.. and I don't really go anywhere!! (MAYBE 40k a week, around town.) I don't mind paying a bit more to drive the Z (premium only thank you) cause it's a 'toy' but a daily driver has to be a little cheaper. So I'm thinking of 'going back to my roots' and finding a nice mid 90's nissan king cab, preferably 4 cyl/5 speed. I've had 2 king cabs in the past (V6 auto 2wd and a V6 5 speed 4x4) and overall, I think they are excelent trucks.. But I know little about the 4 cyl.. From what I gather, they are fairly stout motors and have decent power for what they are.. Does anyone here have one (or had?) and know roughly the kind of milage you can expect? Or any issues with the 4 cyl I should be aware of/watch out for? Thanks.
  10. Damn hell fart..... Thats FAST!!!
  11. OHhhh no... not ANOTHER switch over to a newer/diffrent system, with downtime and lost info!! PLEASSSSEEEEE just leave it be!! I'm finaly getting the hang of this place! (just a computer illiterate grease monkey here, sorry)
  12. Um.. what engine? What kind of fuel syetem? Generaly sounds like a fuel problem... ie: pump is not working/has low presure but this question needs more background info to diagnose....
  13. Even after you fix 'ALL' the rust you can find, there's still more rust.
  14. OMFG ROTF!!!! That was great! .."Despite the gash in my head and the several large knots where I had cleverly arrested the deer's momentum by bracing my head against various large rocks as it dragged me across the ground..." Thats my favorite part.. hehehe
  15. SWEET!!! I have seen something similar though... in an old (1985?) VW&Porsche mag they featured an 84 twin engine Jetta. VERY cool idea IMO and it's tottally sleaper...
  16. I think i'd have to have an LS1 powered Volvo wagon.. (think OLD 144 or early 240) obviously lowered/shaved bumpers and blacked out.. Maybe a VW Corrado with a full awd drivetrain/motor swap (Audi A8 perhaps? and turbo of course...) And yes, a Pantera will do just fine.
  17. Funny.. My uncle was telling me he used to live in a small town called Wakefield.. and a lot of the local 'hicks' would drop a sbc into Chevettes/Accadians (In Canada aka; the Molson Acadian) and scream around town with big dia. tires on the rear, and lo pros on the front.. mailbox style hood scoops, rca house speakers on the back, ect. They became known as a "Wakefield 'Vette"
  18. 84 -88 200sx. Great milage with the 4 cyl, and still pretty peppy. I bought mine for $500, and did only basic oil change's/brakes over 2 years of HARD driving!
  19. IMO the Fiero was gm's atempt at a copy cat of sorts to the MR2.. Small lightweight mid engine 2 seater. The design philosophy was similar, take bits and pieces from the existing parts bins, and throw them into a little sport chasis... The V6 fieros were at least peppy I guess... Crappy 4 cyl, terrible brakes, and quite heavy too for a 'sports car' ..... Even if the Toyota is a little pricy and a pita to work on, I still think the mr2 is the better car in the end. Decent motors, suspension, a TRULY light weight/well designed chasiss. Me ana a friend almost bought 3 of them a few years back (2 86's and one 87) and were going to build two out of them... deal fell through though.. shady seller and questionable ownership issues.. too bad, but then I bought the Z so I'm not too bothered now. I really love the 2nd gen's though they're still out of my price range for now.. That one is very nice btw!
  20. Hmmm... maybe I should look into this wow thing... ditch the g/f in favour of wow, and spend less money/be less stresed!!! Well.. I'm intriuged buy you're proposal, and would like a subscription to your newsletter!
  21. Huh? Why not?!?! : I actually have a cheep $40 set of fowlers (4", mech dial) that I use just for that purpose. More accurate than a tape/scale and marker, and it's fast. As for the mics, get the mit's. I don't have the digis, but I personaly prefer the mecanical old school. For most of what I do, (general machinest) they are fine, and I bought my set of Mitutoyo mics (0-2, 0-3, 0-4, 0-5, 0-6) from a pawn shop 2 years ago for $50 and laughed all the way back to the shop. :lol They are older ones, but very accurate.
  22. Oh I didn't mean to be ofensive man, I've just met a few people who take it as more than 'a pastime' and realy believe it actually MEANS SOMETHING IN THE REAL WORLD! Heck, I work on cars and don't think it makes me better than someone else, it's just something I do.. It's all to 'clickey' and highschool-ish for me to buy into.. just mho.
  23. Man... I'm like the one and only LOANER up here in the north country.. One little Datsun in a sea of redneck camaros and mustangs and civics... We have this retarded "Mystic rides' and 'dragon slayer' shite goin on up here.. (I'm serious.. I'll take some pics this summer, it's hilarious... 80s' ford pos's and chrysler minivans with stickers on the windshields.. it's really silly..) I wish I had a cool car club to hang out with..
  24. Nah, thats a mustang with a CIVIC body kit... (oh, and type R racing tires) It's a crapy kit though.. you can still tell it's a mustang.
