I am getting ready to install my hatch which I plan to weld in place. Then I remembered that I need a new seal. Does anyone have a thought on a non-oem replacement that could work? Something I could grap at a local parts store that might fit? I am planning on installing the hatch Sunday and don't have time to order one from MSA. I thought someone posted something about this but my search did not pan out, though I plan on trying again. I do have a brand new rear hatch seal for a 94 Jimmy that I bought but never used. I may try to cut that up and use it. Thoughts? Rufus

Matt, The pic with the doors off was good for me to see. It made me decide that I do not want to go that route. It would bug the frig out of me to have to climb over one of those 3 to 4 times a day. Still I would like the added rigidity that they offer. I wonder if I could increase the bend you have in yours to allow for eassier entry departure, and still have them be viable. I realize that they would be less than optimal in a crash situation, but that is not my concern as much as strengthening the chasis.

I was wondering the same thing. I also got mixed results when I did a similar search. The cage looks great, thanks for posting the pics. My plan is to buy either a S&W or one from JohnC, tack it in place then take it to a local weld shop to do the proper welding. Your pics will help with that a bunch. Rufus

Yea I was in such a rush to pull the pins I didn't notice the little buggers. Funny... with enough heat and torque the flats of the pins pull right past the retaining bolts!! Thats also why I need the pins...

Gotta buy some spindle pins. Is there a better place than Victoria British to get them? I searched but get only one hit. I even tried several spellings of spidle. VB prices are: 30 bones for the pins (2) and 15 for the lock bolt (2). Seems reasonable. Thanks, Rufus

No that line will not be incorporated into the final design. In fact i removed it from the doors as well.

Thanks guys Paul, The skateboard thing is actually a gocart. I tested it at work and it followed me home. Datsunlover, Hopefully in the fall. I am making serious progress! Mike, I have a bodyline that goes with the one about 1.5" from the top of the door. You can kind of see it here. Matt, I just finished the drivers side which will make it easier to get a full side shot. I actually put the drivers side door on and it looks sweet!!
