  1. Even on a stock engine. Weight is different, exhaust/intake are totally different, and you have all the smog stuff removed. Car needs a tune without question. It may not be the only source of your bad gas mileage but I'm willing to bet its a large part of it.
  2. Totally understandable. If I had an extra set laying around, I'd send them your way, but ls7 heads are few and far between
  3. Cannot stress this enough, but you need a quality tune. A crappy tune will cause terrible mileage and a myriad of other issues, and oftentimes they turn off the CELs that would normally turn on as a result. Get it tuned on a dyno and street by a competent local tuner, and you will see a ton of difference.
  4. So how much would it cost me to get you to make me an ls7 version of that intake?
  5. Great choice in setup, sounds like an extremely reasonable setup.
  6. Did a few more things to the car, started dialing in the suspension, and added wheelie bars to be safe, since this car likes to climb when it hooks. 3 hours before going to the track, found a bit of a problem. Seems I sucked a zip tie or something down my turbo while on the dyno... Lucky for me, my buddy had a twin of it, so we swapped it out, and headed to the track. Spent a long time chasing electrical gremlins, (Ended up having a bad cell in my optima...) and then finally got the car out there to make a nice easy A to B pass. Needless to say, car went a bit faster than expected considering I didn't have the boost up very high, and it was leaving at 3lbs of boost and 3400rpm. Got the car to leave later in the evening, but the clocks were off, so I have no idea what it ran. According to my logs, I passed the 1/8 around 140+. Excited to make it back out again in a few months! Just picked up a sponsor who is setting me up with a Holley Dominator system to get the car working even better!
  7. Gonna need to turn that thing up to kill +10 to get that record hehe
  8. 427 ci LSX block with 265cc heads and a fairly big cam (250s duration, 650+ lift). It was being held back by the turbo size to engine size issue for this dyno session, and the fact that I couldn't get any more boost without co2 which I don't have installed yet. Stay tuned for a new turbo, I got a screaming deal on a GT5533, so I'm gonna swap that in next month, and hopefully we can see a bit more power on the dyno
  9. https://youtu.be/mQ8T7sKmsz4 Thanks to Nate and Starkweather tuning, we were able to get a nice base tune on the car. Found out I need co2 to get over 15lbs of boost with this tiny turbo though! Still, made good power for 15lbs of boost. Looking forward to making some passes in the next month or two, and maybe getting back on the dyno with 5-10psi more boost!
  10. Just use isolation mounts, should be fine. You should always use those for fuel pumps anyways, so its no big change.
  11. Looks good man, I'm excited to see the results of this setup. I may be going glide once I go larger turbo, and I will for SURE get a GVOD. (They can hold 1600+hp right?)
  12. That sucks. I've run into a few bad headlight/ts switch assemblies. Theres a guy that rebuilds them for a reasonable price I'm pretty sure. I recently got lucky and picked up a mint 78 280z steering assembly and swapped the entire ignition/HL/Tss switch over from it. But before that, I went through 2 factory 240z HL switches.
  13. If the engine isn't running and voltage is a little low, quite often ONE side of the HIDs will not work.
  14. New motor is alive! Sounds great, drives nice. It runs a little warmer (About 10-15 degrees max) but its an iron block 427 vs an aluminum block 402, so its understandable. Didn't have time to tune it this trip, but I'll get it dropped off for that within the month most likely. Excuse the mess, I'm a slob when I'm working on this car. Mostly due to trying to get weeks worth of work done in days.... Ironically after all that, I forgot to take a picture of the new hood installed. I now have a cowl induction hood, and I'm contemplating installing the vents from my old hood on it.
  15. This setup really only works if you don't plan on making 600+hp and are using the factory corvette filter/regulator setup. Otherwise its not a good idea.
  16. Made some progress today, got the intake and VCs coated Then installed! Should have her fired up tomorrow. I also got my cowl hood fitted, and will be installing it after I paint it tomorrow. (Well, after Infidel paints it for me, cause I'm terrible at that stuff)
  17. I run gatorback belts generally, never had an issue of noise from them. Can you warranty out the tensioner to see if it goes away?
  18. Mine is built off the frame rails. I have boxed mine all the way to the back, so we just make a gusset off the frame for the crossmember. You should be able to modify your old one to do that. Got any pictures of the options?
  19. X2. I made 600-800hp on my setup and created a TON of heat, eventually I had to use the boots to protect them, but the MSDs always worked best for me
  20. Not sure. I go home tomorrow, so I'll see if I can figure it out
  21. Lemme see if I can find some. If not, I can take pictures when I get home again next week. We just did simple steel and welded it to the rails for re-enforcement. Was very easy, and turned out pretty clean. These pictures are from my old ass camera phone, I'll take better ones when I get home. Also, Update: My buddy stopped by (Since I live halfways across the country from my car), installed new lifters (To replace the junk lunati failures) and torqued down the heads. Also took my intake to get powdercoated as well! Can't wait to see it. These pictures are awful as well. My buddy has allergies to technology.... Also test fit another turbo, just in case I decide to upgrade sometime soon to match my huge ass engine... This is a GTX55 frame turbo. Looks like it will fit just fine with some help Someday I will be able to afford one. (This is a friend's turbo)
  22. JCI. It is 3-4" higher than an ls6, but only in the center, where the stock hood is significantly higher than that.
  23. http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=181018780878&alt=web Something like that
  24. V band is a great idea. Get a self aligning style one and it will work perfectly. Also if you have the patience, what RebekasZ recommended is the way to go. I never find I have that level of patience though haha
