  1. If there were a person on the other end I'd say have at it. There is only a program running on a computer somewhere though, so it's not really doing anything to help anyone. If it makes you feel better, clench your fists and yell to the heavens "Fie you blasted spammer! To hell with you, and your [insert your own adjective here] advertisements!" I take no responsibility for what happens if you try that one at work, though...
  2. We seem to be getting a lot recently. Just tell us about it and we'll deal with it ASAP. Calling the spambot names doesn't really hurt it's feelings and doesn't do anything useful for the site either.
  3. Start by reading the FAQs and stickies as MatMan suggests. The L6 FAQ is not the best, so then you should start searching in the L6 forum for info on building up an engine. You'll find lots of info on the heads, cam timing, etc. There is no one answer for your question as to how much power you're going to get. Here are a couple of the many good threads you'll find by searching. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=89812 http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=104420 http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=111523
  4. Yes, it's been up for auction at least once before. I kinda like it.
  5. I'm guessing they are part of the 300 hours the guy has in the custom body work. The Reaction Research 940Z kit is similar, but more 944ish in shape. You might take a look at that.
  6. You've got 2 problems there. You need an adapter, and you need different CV shafts. The NA CV shafts are too long and won't work. The turbo 300ZX shafts have the 4 bolt flanges, but they won't bolt up; the adapter is still needed. http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=23_43&products_id=46
  7. MUCH MUCH easier to put the LSD into a different 3rd member that has the correct gear set. If you have to change the gears, zcarnut has posted the Nissan diff manual in the download section. I think I've seen that manual before, and it describes how to use the Nissan special tool to set pinion depth. Since you won't have the special tool, that part gets a little tricky. You can set the pinion depth by looking at the pattern is created when the gears are run on each other, but if you're going to use a previously run gearset you pretty much have to get it dead on, otherwise it will make noise. This is why swapping the LSD is EASY, swapping the gears is not. I'd suggest if you were still going to try it you might try a combo of the info in the download area and this manual: http://www.ringpinion.com/Content/HowTo/TechnicalInstructions/Yukon_Installation_Kit.pdf That manual is generic enough to have useful information about the pattern and different methods of setting pinion depth, so it may be useful where the Nissan manual is not.
  8. MAS has a set of flares similar to the MSA street flares and they're CHEAP. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=118582
  9. I'd be interested to see what that wing does in the wind tunnel. Having the supports lean back should multiply the downforce like using a cheater bar on a wrench, but the wing is less traditional in shape...
  10. preith, why not just move the oil cooler so that it is up against the radiator? I guess I understand why people want everything to have it's own duct and airflow, but it seems that there still should be plenty of airflow to cool the engine and it seems a lot easier than making a new duct. I love what you've done though. It seems almost ideal to me. Maybe the opening in front is a little big. Have you ever tried taping part of it off to see the difference? Might be a simple solution rather than rebuilding all the ducting. I would think the same thing applies to all the intercooled turbo guys. Just move the cooler up to the rad, rather than trying to design a new duct. Should make what you have a lot more efficient, even though it's up against the "hot" radiator.
  11. Yes. Read up on the companion flange issues though. There are two ways to use the 280ZX companion flanges. More info here: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=116207 and here: http://www.alteredz.com
  12. Search. 510six has a thread which goes through the whole procedure. Probably 2 or 3 years old. Pics and everything.
  13. Did you see his $185 stock steering wheel? I guess there might be people out there who would pay those prices... I'm not one of them.

  15. Is there a question in there?
  16. Yes you can put a 6 speed in your Z if you have the bellhousing and driveshaft work done. If you go custom you can have pretty much any 6 speed you want. John Coffey even recommended a shop that has adapted different transmissions. If you have another question ask it, but I think we're starting to cover the same ground again here. I'm with the others who don't see the point, but if that's what you want to spend your money on, go for it.
  17. There was another thread where they were showing pics of the 6 speed trans next to a 5 speed. There was a shifter extension thing that looked like it could be easily unbolted from the rear of the transmission and would make the distance probably 10" shorter than stock, judging by the pictures. Anyone really interested might dig up that old thread.
  18. Reading your post about adding oil and only getting 10 more psi, I don't think it's rings. Compression testers are notoriously inaccurate too, so you were really doing the right thing by looking at the variance rather than the actual number.
  19. Once again, we need to keep in mind the intended usage of the guy who started the thread. Rocker bars might be fairly useless in a collision with another car. If the intent is to push your luck in the canyons, there are other considerations that rocker bars might be of some help in dealing with. I believe tube80z convinced Dave Kipperman to put the rocker bars in his car after seeing a hillclimb car go over the edge. In that case the guy's cage managed pretty well, but the driver's feet were smashed because the cage stopped at the front of the door. The intended usage is similar. And they will stiffen the chassis, as the rockers are the main structure that Nissan used to tie the front and rear of the car together. The rockers are more structural than the A and B pillars, or the sheet metal "frame rails" which don't even connect front to back in the stock configuration. Personally, you couldn't get me to push to 10/10ths in a canyon without a heck of a lot more than rocker reinforcements, but I think that point has already been made so I'll leave it at that. As far as DOT approved goes, is that a legal requirement for seatbelts? If it is, my first inclination would be to adapt a seatbelt out of a newer car. I had a friend with a 510 who got some belts out of a vanagon if I remember correctly and adapted them in. The thing that he was after was a retractor which didn't bolt into a recessed area of the body.
  20. It almost seems to haul more ass than it did 3 weeks ago when the video was first posted here...
  21. They all do that, because the pinion turns the ring and there is no reason for the differential to differentiate. Spin one side shaft and see what the other one does. It's not a gear driven, so if it spins in the opposite direction with no more resistance than the gears in the carrier would give, then it has to be open.
  22. Not sure what you mean. I thought the 240s and early 260s had the doors with no reinforcement, and the 280s had the reinforcement. I have not verified this in any other way than moving 80 something doors to my brother-in-law's place and noticing how much heavier the 280 doors are than the 240s, so maybe I'm missing something. Not sure what the ZX has. Maybe that's what you mean by "later 280s"??? The 240s have a completely different latch mechanism on them from the 280s. Was it hard to get the latch to work?
  23. I'm not entirely sure. But check this out: VLSD: CLSD: It doesn't look like either of those... It is definitely not a gear driven LSD either. There are some LSDs that look almost like open carriers, but not really in the Nissan world so far as I know. So without taking it apart, looks like a 4 pinion open to me.
  24. That looks like a 4 pinion open carrier to me.
