  1. you might want to check out maxima.org to anwser a lot of those questions. i remember that you might need cam gear spacers to swap heads, but thats with a vq30 block
  2. whats the weight of that wheel tire combo? when those are tucked into the zg's that will be damn hot.
  3. i had them on my 76 for a few years and i cant tell you how much i liked them. grip was great and still had some wet traction. i will definitely get a pair for the next one of my cars that need tires.
  4. at the winton pull-your-part in hayward i saw in the core return bin a COMPLETE 1jzgte rear sump engine. had everything from the flywheel up. even had a harness w/o ecu. i just wish i saw this a year ago as i would have jumped at this. they are having a half off day today. i asked them how much it would cost and they came up with about $150. i was going to buy it and selling it for profit, but i would rather see this engine stuffed into a z. please someone get this, its about 1/4 the price you might pay for one of these.
  5. no a/c for me. i am running engine mounts off of the accessory bolt holes in the block. i have about an inch between the valve covers and the firewall if that helps any.
  6. i actually had no problem with the shifter hole, i didnt have to cut it at all. this might also be because my z was originally an auto.
  7. sorry i'm tired, is this sub-forum only for people who had participated in the aerodynamics testing? or to any long term hybirdZer?
  8. i would just think that sense they put so much money into the body, why not do a relativity easy turbo swap. it looks ok, but the tail lights dont match the lines of the car at all.
  9. is this the first rear/mid engined z? i cant remember any others.
  10. only car i remember is the Mercedes SLR Mclaren, which has the exhaust after the front tires.
  11. good win, it musta been a close race damn clean car thou
  12. i had a lot of luck at the pull your part on Winton ave in Fremont. there were like 3 240'z and a 280 or two. this was two weeks ago so some of them might be gone.
  13. my 3 swaps would be to just piss everyone off and to make the purists send me death threats. 1) mk IV supra with a TT ls1, because each time the idea of this comes up on supraforums everyone says it would be the worst thing to do and that the 2jz is the greatest engine ever created. 2) old corvette with said 2jz swaped into it for same affect to the am-ur-can purists. 3) a Ferrari f430 with a toyota prius drive train in it.
  14. my 76 came with those wheels. i think they are called ar39's
  15. once more for old times sake. what are your plans? TT Nissan v8 in the future?
  16. classic, i just was never able to put the parts back together.
  17. well i wasn't going to make my own muffler, i was just going to use a moroso muffler i had lying around. but for noise and clearance reasons i am going to let the pros handle this one.
  18. turns out it was a bad crimp i put on the charge wire on the alternator. crimped it up then i tried wires and instantly got 14volts. it was pulling about 40 amps according to the gauge at idle, not bad if you ask me. to think i was going to go out and buy another alternator tomorrow. only thing i have left is to hook up the tach. i have thrown in the towel to build my own exhaust so im taking it into the place that did my 76. vids not too far away.
  19. damn those would be perfect on my car because the PO rolled back the fenders about 1" all around the edge of the lip, so with these flairs it will cover all that up.
  20. its been a very long time sense i have updated this, but the car is running and i have fixed most of the leaks. i have driven it around close to my house a few times and i am happy with it so far. i have not yet hooked up the ic lines yet so its just an na right now. its loud as hell and thats keeping me from getting more seat time tuning it in the sleepy neighborhood of mine. i will probably end up taking it to a shop and tell them to give me a nice quiet exhaust on it. the things that are really keeping it from driving more are the fact that i cant get my autometer tach to work right yet and i dont have my alt. hooked up. i bought the tach about a year ago because it's a nice simple black 5" tach. i tried hooking it up every way but nothing. i had a simple 3 wire tach lying around and i hooked that up and it worked with no problems. so i think the tachs dead(damn ebay seller). now i can get the alt working right yet so i give you all an offer. first person who tells me the right way to wire up the alt. will get a nice box of homemade Christmas cookies mailed to your door. any help with that is appricated. oh i also got some 17X8.5" wheels to go on my car after i get it running to spice up the sexiness.
  21. thats just what i needed, thanks.
  22. at the rate i'm going we will finish at about the same time. there's a whole bunch of wiring to do, it seems a lot more then when i wired up MS to my l28 turbo. one question, the fuel damper(i think it's called) thats on the fuel rail, where does the fuel line coming off it go?
  23. http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&safe=off&sa=N&resnum=0&q=citroen%20van%20&tab=wi
  24. its crazy how the 7m piston is smaller in diameter then our l28's engine, so the 7m has to make up the displacement with stroke, thats one of the reasons they cant rev, their piston speeds are real high.
