  1. That makes sense about the slipping and RPM calculations. So what is it that makes all the automatic Supras become the dyno queens they are? They must have figured something out, they have such pretty peaks on their ungodly high graphs...hmmm. Just goes to show, the only dyno that matters is the STRIP!!! Good luck to James and Scottie!
  2. You have to pull off the front cover, there is no other option. I hope I'm not out of line here in recommending an intercooler with your boost level - if you blew a stock head gasket with 10 psi non-intercooled, and replace it with a metal gasket, your pistons may be the next weakest link.

  8. It probably reads in BAR, and 1 BAR = 14.7psi.
  9. To me, it sounds like a lot of work, but you might be able to mount a low pressure/high volume pump as low as possible to feed a surge tank that your high pressure pumps would feed from. Tehn you could actually have your pumps lower than the source.... I can't believe these pumps can't handle a bit of pulling uphill...How does the stock FI pump survive? It has to pull fuel uphill a bit as well - the pump is tucked up at the top of the rear fender, and the fuel tank sure seems to hang low.

  11. I would think if the insurance company is going to give you grief, it's because the 260Z is a "sports car", not because you put a turbocharged engine in it. Personally, I never told my old insurance company (they never asked...) So you may get the high rates regardless of the engine, just TURBO it!

  13. IMO, that would be an effective IC. The cross-sectional for the air charge is acceptable for the displacement of the L28 - Porsche parts are designed to do the job more than most OEMs, as they only do performance cars, and are less prone to put cheap crap in their cars. BTW, $165 might be a bit high...
  14. It's not easy, but you can try to check what the duty cycle is on your injectors. If you are getting close to 100% (I'm not sure what the max is on stock ECU), that could be the cause of the top end leaning out.
  15. Yes, agree with David K. And if you are at any sort of elevation, the L28ETs dominate the V8 competition... (of course I'm at 5800' in Denver)
  16. You can run an aftermarket ignition like MSD, which is available with a MAP sensor to pull timing with increasing boost. Otherwise, you can't do it with factory stuff. That's why for most ECUs, the ignition control and the fuel metering are combined into a single ECU.
  17. Hey Tom, speaking of fuel pumps, I hope the bad one you had was not the one I sold you? (did I sell you one?) I am putting 260hp (14 psi at 5800' elevation) to the wheels with the junkyard Bosch pump, no fuel pressure or flow problems that I am aware of. I will soon find out what it is made of when I install my 370cc injectors...
  18. My $0.02 on this issue, and the way I use the forum is I use the search to get the day's new posts. When a topic is posted in many different forums, I see every instance of it. In addition, it's hard to keep the topic focused if responses are spread over multiple postings, with no linking or summary. And IMHO, if you are selling something, I think it should stay in the Buy/Sell forum.
  19. I'm not sure if this is true...a misfire will have loads of oxygen in it, and that is all the O2 sensor detects. So it seems to me a misfire will register lean. I had ignition problems (bad wires), and when I'd get on it, I'd see my mixture slam lean - checked fuel pressure and injectors for hours, never found a fuel delivery problem, and it certainly did not smell lean.

  21. I understand what you are saying now, however I call that "lag," not pressure drop. It seems to me there really is no pressure even at the turbo, until the volume is filled at boost pressure, hence no pressure "drop".
  22. I've done this - it works well. You can't just rotate the engine from under the dizzy, the dizzy only has one position atop the shaft.
  23. Hoodwink - if your P90A has adjustable pivots, just use it, it will not be different than a P90. On the other hand, if the pivots are hydraulic, I agree with Lockjaw, go with the P90 or non-hydraulic P90A, as if one goes bad they are difficult to find.
