  1. Sweet! I'll be sure to let both of you guys know exactly when and where the meet will be once I get the specifics figured out! I can't wait to see more hybrids! -Vann I don't have a hybrid but i'm down for a meet. I gotta see the engine in that zx...
  2. "Has an extra set of injectors fitted to double the fuel available. Seemed like a good idea at the time!" I think he regreted having done that to the manifold...
  3. these people made one. Good write-up too. http://members.tripod.com/~grannys/4rotor.html
  4. cheftrd: great info! Perhaps this should be a sticky
  5. I wanted steel wheels for a while, and I started this post: http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=36124&highlight=
  6. can us normal fuel people use those intake manifolds on our Z's? maybe if drilled for injectors? Long runner style hehe....

    V10?

    Pics!!!! I need Pictures!!!!!
  8. Actualy that is extremely unlikely because 280z's came with hydraulic clutch systems. AcidicDreams: An FPR is a fuel pressure regulator. You can locate it on a stock 280z by finding the fuel rail (where the injectors connect by a ruber hose) and looking opposit of that oval loop. On the opposite side you will find the FPR, a cylindrical shaped piece with about a 1 1/2" diameter. I too had a similar problem on my car. My problem did not turn out to be the FPR, and turned out to be the Throttle position sensor (TPS). Any change in throttle would make the car want to choke unless it was a very gradual change. Other than the FPR and TPS I would check the fuel filter and all connections on the fuel injection harness. (everything that plugs into a sensor) the connections can play tricks with you. If it were me, I would not tackle this project with $1,000 and a week's worth of time. It could take an entire week to pinpoint the engine problem!. My advice is to do as much reading as you can on the car if you do plan on purchasing it. It seems that this car would be a project, and not something that would take only a week to get on the road. Oh yeah, check out the fuel injection bible to help diagnose your FI problems with a voltmeter. http://www.72hours.net/~zcar/280zfuelinjectionbook.pdf Hope that helps you make a decision in your prospective purchase.
  9. I found this on racer x's post of vintage cars. It has a grille going all the way down to the original front lower facia and a spoiler going over the facia, but not a replacement airdam http://hybridz.org/nuke/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10766/normal_BSR-Red33ZcarOnCourse.jpg
  10. I have a problem... I ordered the koni "d" strut rear inserts for my car because I found them for realy cheap. As it sits, my car has no suspension upgrades at all. Actualy, I have a seized left rear shock that doesn't allow any suspension movement at all. I found out that the koni "d" strut inserts according to dave on arizonazcar.com are only sold with their coilover kit and camber kit because they are extremely stiff. Would it be fine to just install these inserts with the stock springs on the softest setting until I buy some stiffer springs? Also, when I do get the stiffer springs, what would be a reasonable spring rate to go on these koni "d" inserts and maintain street drivability? I want to upgrade the front strut inserts since I am doing the back ones, so would the tokico illuminas be a good complement to the koni "d" inserts, and what springs would go with the illuminas on the front? Would arizonazcar.com's sport springs be a good choice for illumina front and koni "d" rear insterts with the 180lb front and 200lb rear rates I am not opposed to selling the koni "d" inserts and going with a different rear set-up if they will be way too harsh for street (I know about harshness with my seized shock ) Sorry about all the questions but I need to figure all this out.
  11. I had a similar prob on my 77 280z. It turned out to be that the water temp sensor (on the thermostat housing) for the ecu was barely on, due to a cracked harness connector. I just wedged it on there realy hard and it has worked since (I realy should get around to buying a new connector... oh well the lazyness kicks in). What happened was I was going to an on-ramp in third gear accel. and the engine started to sputter and as soon as I put in the clutch (emergency reflex) the engine died. I had it towed to my friends house which was closer than my house and the next morning the car started up just fine. Then after a few hours of trouble shooting I found out exactly what it was. (loose temp connector)
  12. WOW that black one is AMAZING. It's probably the most exotic looking Z I've ever seen. thanks for the reply.... (any more pics? )
  13. This Z I found on ebay reminds me of a cartoon z... (way too much body work in my oppinion) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6187&item=2487766191&rd=1
  14. looks good Is it me or are the frame rails leaning toward the drivers side? ( may be camera angle)
  15. I was considering the khumos but then I read something that khumo 711's were illegal in scca, so I decided I would stay away from khumo's all together. I already ordered falken ziex 512's and now I just have to order the diamond racing wheels (15x7). I'm still waiting for the diamond racing guy to reply to my email to see if the wheels he's selling are lighter than the paulsen wheels. Thanks to everyone who replied!
  16. maybe I should have mentioned why I want to change lights... When my engine broke down over winter break, my dad thought we didn't need a tow truck, so he'd just push me with his car. The bumpers didn't line up correctly and now my right tail light panel has a lot of cracks around the reverse light. (the reverse light is now just a bulb without a lense) I notice 280zx's are far more abundant than 280z's in the junkyard and I might as well try it... I just wanted to see if anyone had gone down this path before...
  17. I'm not trying to make the thread any longer than it already is, but wouldn't I have to replace the azenis more frequently than the ziex's? Ziex treadwear rating: 420 Azenis treadwar rating: 200 Any more opinions on that? Especialy since I will only attend one autocross a month and I drive the car everyday. (through rain) I heard that the azenis with the 200 treadwear rating hydroplane if given any amount of water. Can anyone back this up?
  18. I've always wanted amber turn signals in my tail lights, but the eurotails are to expensive... heres my j/y option... pull the 280zx tails with amber on 'em and bolt them on! (lol) Ok what am I facing here before I make the 30 mile trip out to the junk yard? Would it be any where near bolt on? (maybe a little fiberglass to get them to look right next to the body) Has anyone test fitted these lights on their 280z's?
  19. Ok... that got out of hand quickly... Now lets get back on topic, CHILDREN. We were discussing steelies and where I could find some for a decent price and what kind of performance the falken ziex's offer as far as daily driving... Continue posting.
  20. After looking at the diamond racing wheels website I notice they don't have 15x7" wheels, only 15x8. How hard would it be to fit 8 inch wide wheels into my Z and can I still use 205 50 15's, or would the tire be stretched out too far?
  21. I just ran in my first autocross on saturday! It was realy fun, but I was sliding everywhere and when I finished all my runs I noticed that the tread blocks were starting to peal off my back tires. I've been looking at pete paulsen wheels for a while now, for their cheapness and custom sizing, so I know I'm getting paulsen wheels for sure. (15x7 3 1/2" backspacing and the "lightweight model" 19lbs.) I have also been looking at tires for this setup... My setup is totaly stock, with blown shocks (will replace when all this happens, so new shocks) and this car is street driven. Is the falken ziex 512 a good street/autocross tire? Keep in mind that I just want more grip than my stock 195/ 60 14's can hold up, I am a novice at autocross, and this car is driven more on the street than at autocross. (autocross once a month, normal driving otherwise) so again, is the falken ziex 512 (205 50 r15) a good tire for what I intend to do with this car?
  22. The PO connected the hose from the valve cover in front of the AFM between the AFM and the intake filter. Would that cause a lean condition?
  23. Just out of curiosity, How much do they weigh? They look rather lightweight...
  24. wow that looks like it took a long time... Mike, I didn't know you could read Japanese....
