  1. Awesome. BTW, I don't live at the same house anymore. I moved out to West Mobile off Dawes now so if you need anything shoot me an email. JT
  2. Already sold the driveshaft and tranny to Cliff. Oh yeah, the truck got a chip tonight....getting more boost tomorrow. Bringing it to Rynolds and looking for some 12's. JT
  3. Get a bigger slide hammer. You can get a big one from O-Reilly's. The store in Tillman's corner usually has the loaner in stock. Never had a problem getting the stub axles out with it. JT
  4. Seems like I red somewhere this transmission is unique to the early 70's in some way. Fixing to haul off my 70 parts car and was wondering wether or not to pull the transmission. I already have 2 4spds laying around and sure don't want another if it's not worth anything. I know alot of the early parts bring good money so I was hoping this may as well. Thanks, JT
  5. My z made 388rwhp running the stock ECU, larger injectors with a modified stck turbo AFM. This was very lean and definately not safe but never the less it did make it. The car made 340rwhp for several years fairly safely with the same setup. It also obviously had other parts such as the larger turbo and intercooler to make the power but was made with an untouched 160k mile shortblock straight out of the junkyard, ported p90 head with stock cam, stock exhaust and intake manifolds. You can make decent power from the stock stuff but if you can afford a stand-alone I would definately recommend it. JT
  6. Yeah, I guess I kind of messed up putting in the cage before getting the seats. I just had no clue what seats I wanted at the time. DOH. JT
  7. Now that my z has a roll cage I have been having a hard time trying to find some seats that would fit. I really don't want a fixed position race seat as this is still going to be 90% street car. After 6mo of mulling it over I finally broke down and bought a pair of recaro SE's. They don't even come close to fitting. The hoop is totally in the way. The cage is from S&W BTW and the hoop doesn't fit very close to the body. There is a good bit of space which is what is in the way of the seat. Has anyone else ran into this problem after putting in a cage? I guess my next option is to either put some stock seats(god forbid) in the car if they will still fit or try some miata seats maybe. I really would rather not do either of these except as a last resort. ANyone have any ideas? Thanks, JT
  8. John: Look at this pic. If it doesn't work go to the link. This is part of the profec b instructions from the website I linked you to above. This is the page that tells you how to set the switches on the back for the type of wastegate you have. Make sure yours are set like the far left or the 2nd from the left. Try them both and see if it helps anything. The right 2 are for external wastegate so I wouldn't worry about them. If this doesn't work go to this website and look at the whole instructions and make sure yours install matches. Hope this helps. JT http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/greddy_profec_b/08.jpg
  9. I haven't messed with a profec in a while but it seems like there are 2 vacuum ports on the sensor part of it. I never could get my profec to work right for whatever reason but seems like at one point I had the 2 vacuum lines reversed and the boost went nuts to well over 20 psi before I could get out of it. Make sure the 2 lines aren't reversed. I believe one goes to the wastegate and the other to the manifold. One other thing you may want to check is the switches on the back of the control box that tell it what kind of wastegate you have (internal or external.....there are 2 settings for each). If you don't have directions I think you can find them at http://www.mkiv.com Good luck. JT
  10. http://cgi6.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=vertexnow&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=50 3" 304SS 90 degree bends for $17 and straight pipe for $8/ft. Cheap prices seems like. I have been planning on buying the pipe for my new exhaust from him for a while but wanted to see if anyone here has bought from him before. JT
  11. That must have been Gabe that yelled out the site to you. Good to have some more local z guys. I just returned your email. JT
  12. The pic is in my profile. 18x8 TSW Trophies. +20 rears, +40 fronts with spacer. JT
  13. Smooth Operator: What part of Alabama are you from? JT
  14. I didn't see the face at first but if you kinda squint your eyes and make the pic look blurry a face will come out(toes are the bottom teeth). I want more pics of the red z! JT
  15. I wouldn't swear to it but I believe the na's still had the r200 but it is different than the older units. Pretty sure the ratio is 4.08. JT
  16. Personally, I am glad some of the forums are being put together. I have thought we had too many forums for a while now. I'm sure I've missed many topics that would interest me simply b/c I don't feel like looking through 48 forums. JT
  17. Oh, Pro-5.0 is the brand name. JT
  18. I have had a steeda, hurst, and the pro-5.0 in the z and I like the pro-5.0 the best out of the 3. There isn't going to be alot of difference b/w any of the aftermarket shifters but I just like this one the best for some reason. You can usually pick up an aftermarket shifter for around 100-120. I will be selling mine in a couple of months when the auto goes in. JT
  19. I had a hurst shifter in it for a while and now have a pro-5.0. I have a feeling the first T5 had a hard life. The bearings always made a little noise and the synchros were a little worn when I got it. The new one feels perfect and is quiet so maybe I won't break it before I get the auto. I will be putting a 3spd auto in the car. May hate it on trips but I think I will like it for some drag racing. JT
  20. 260det: I was making about 340rwhp at the time. Probably put 3000 miles on it maybe which to me is a while. Cody: CLutch is a 240mm Pro-grip clutch from TEP. Disc is a 6-puck. Tires are 245-40-18 Sumitomo HTRZ II and occasionaly 245-50-16 Nitto drag radials. BFG is now making 245-40-18 drag radials so I'm about to be all over that as soon as the car is on the road. JT
  21. WIth the T5 I was riding around street racing and it started making some noise. Kept running it and the noise got louder. The next day I took a friend for a ride down the road. On either the 3rd or 4th gear shift it broke. I almost didn't make it back home......the teeth from the gears were getting lodged in the tranny and locking it up. I am rough on drivetrain parts. JT
  22. In my experience the T5 is alot stronger than the Nissan tranny. I broke 3 Nissan transmissions in the first few thousand miles I owned my z. I only broke one T5 in the next few thousand miles. The t5 I broke looks pretty bad off. Half the teeth on a couple of the gears are sheered off. I picked up 2 t5's for $300 including shipping so it's not a big loss. Bout to go automatic real soon....tired of breaking shit with the 5 spd. JT
  23. Only the 84-86 turbo had the T5. 87-89 turbos had a very beefy Nissan transmission. JT
