  1. LOL. Thanks for the compliments 80LT1. Hoping to have a few more than 360 when it goes back together. JT
  2. In most cases turbos just don't like alot of gear. If I had my choice I would have like a 3.3x gear and if I end up putting the 8.8 rear end under the car that's what it will get. JT
  3. Just for shits and giggles I took the turbo from my z and mounted it in place of the T3 that goes on my truck. Looks pretty badass but I bet it would take about 3 yrs to spool. LOL. JT
  4. Not to be an ass but the Grand National never came with a supercharger. They were all turbocharged. Also pretty sure a Grand National is not going to redline at 6200. That's a setup that makes as$loads of torque downlow but doesn't like to rev very high. JT
  5. NGK, all the way. I use a "7" in my z which is one step colder but if you running a mild setup I probably wouldn't bother. JT
  6. Not exactly sure how yours is setup but mine will be sitting inside a metal box under the car. For my return and vent I got 2 90 degree bulkhead fittings coming out of the cell.....going to urn hose from these fittings straight across to the side of the box to 2 more bulkhead fittings that go through the box. Probably just going to vent mine out of the fitting on the other side of the box. JT
  7. I am seriously thinking about doing an RB swap into my car but the only real thing holding me back is not being able to get common parts easily such as a water pump, misc gaskets, etc. Is there any place in the states that stocks this kind of stuff for the rb26? Thanks, JT
  8. Exactly. The #8 fitting on top that came on the cell is going to be my vent and I am adding the #6 bulkhead to the top as well for the return. JT
  9. Not that that way won't work but it's surely not the best way to do it. My cell isn't installed yet but will be next week hopefully. WHat I am doing is putting a bulkhead #6 fitting on top for the return. I am going to eventually use both outlets anyway so what you are talking about wasn't an option for me regardless. Supposedly though it's not good to have the return so close to the feed. The bulkhead fittings are really easy to put in....just have to drill a hole in the cell and the fitting slides through and has a nut for the bottom. I am using a nylon washer on top to make sure it won't leak as well. Hope this helps. JT
  10. 18x8 all around 16x7 for drag radials JT
  11. Just curious. I am thinking about using a 240z tank in my 280z with one of the sumps sold on here. The sump will not fit a 280 tank and I have 2 240z parts cars is the only reason I am considering this. Since the tank will be sumped, is there any drawback to using the 240z tank, assuming it bolts in? JT
  12. Although I have a 240sx myself I can't help you with the questions. There is tons of info in the FAQ section over at http://www.240sx.org . I bet if you do some digging you can find whatever you want to know. JT
  13. for example my friend jtaylor dynoed his z at 388 whp and 420 pounds of torque and so far he went to i belive two six puck clutches (in less than 5000 miles) and with six puck car was not friendly for daily driving. ----Actually, the first clutch was in the car when I bought it and supposedly had been for quite soem time. I did make quick work of it though. This second one is the same brand and has been in the car for a few thousand miles without slipping yet. The clutch is a pro-grip from top end performance.....6 puck. It does suck for city driving. JT
  14. Why do you want to run a 4.38 gear in a turbo car? In most cases, turbo cars don't need or even like alot of gear. I run a 3.70 in mine but only b/c it's LSD. If I had my choice I would run a 3.3x-3.5x gear. JT
  15. The mass airs have like 3 different part numbers from 84-89 but they are all the same, turbo and non. JT
  16. You can use the stock regulator if you want. Just cap off one of the inlets....worked fine for me. You may be able to get a newer model regulator that only has one inlet to make things look cleaner. JT
  17. Be sure to grab the power transistor....going to need it in a turbo swap. JT
  18. Helping a friend out on the toyota 4x4 fronts and 280zx rear discs on his 280z. After installing and bleeding everything the pedal goes to the floor. The rears seem to be getting decent pressure to them but the fronts aren't wanting to grab too good. Seems like I remember reading that this upgrade may require a zx turbo master cylinder but can't remember for sure. Anyone run into this problem? JT
  19. Still trying to get some feedback from someone who bought it. Are you happy with it? I would love to see some dyno results after installing it. I am still looking to buy one but hesitant until I hear more about it. JT
  20. www.turbotoys.net is a good toyota pickup sight but obviously mainly for the turbo pickups. JT
  21. I am still interested in maybe buying one of these headers but have been kind of waiting to see what kind of gains are to be made with it. Has anyone gotten there's installed and been to a dyno or anything? I am really curious to see the results. JT
  22. The car was Walker's car a few yrs ago but I have owned it ever since. It isn't photoshopped and was according to Walker was done just like was said above. It looks cool but isn't worth a **** ....never even look at it to tell you the truth. It is waaaay off from my EGT gauge. JT
  23. Turned out, I have 2 long CV's. They did both come out of the same car so I dunno how that happened. I got another pair from a friend. He had a bunch laying around and didn't know which were 280zx and were 300zx. I got a pair....one of them was quite a bit longer than mine but one was about a half inch or so shorter so I assume this is the right one. It still will not go all the way in. The pass side goes in just fine....drivers side I get into the diff but the other end is still is too long by about an inch to get into the adapter. ANyone else ran into this problem? JT
  24. I dunno if this helps you or not but when my 95 Nissan pickup was wrecked, Alfa(the other guy's insurance) went by NADA. My Insurance(progressive) also uses NADA to determine how much a car is worth. If I was going o buy a car I would pick the cheapest to print out and take with me though. JT
  25. 300zx tranny won't work. Even if you get the 280 bellhousing, the input shaft is still going to be quite a bit too long to work. ONly way it may work is if you changed the input shaft and bellhousing but for that much of a pain you could just find a 280zx tranny and bolt it right in. JT
