  1. Now this is only from what I have read on another nissan page...Nicocar or something like that. Using the 2.6 crank and rods gives it a larger stroke. Obviously. The bore of 82 is convienent for the 4agze piston. Which happens to be a turbo piston from toyota with ideal pin height. No big deal. According to numerous goggle searches the 2.4 has more torque and higher revs than the 2.5...Higher torque I figure is from the larger crank/rod combination and higher revs again from the 2.6 geometry. The engine was free. 4agze pistons used from japan less than $200. RB26 crank / rods no more than $500. Turbine setup with Rb25 turbo around $250...Small odds and ends and that's about the price of your average Rb20det to begin with...Rb25det are even more. Throw in costs of bearing, seals and gaskets a little machining. No real loss because that's just a good idea to do to a used engine before installing it...Just curious to find someone else here or perhaps AUS that has this or attempted for their feedback....
  2. So I got my hands on a RB20det courtesy of SuperDan. Thanks again. Had one of these in my first Skyline. GTS-4 2dr. Fun car. Did all the bolt on stuff to make a mini GTR before I got the big boy. Anyway I have been reading a bit about stroking this thing to a 2.4 using RB26 crank and rods and toping it off with 4agze pistons. Curious to see if anybody here has done something similar or knows someone who has. Curious to hear how happy they are with it. If not then will simply build a strong 2.0 out of it. Got GTR cams and injectors on the way and thinking of a trick turbo header set up that is on Yahoo auctions...
  3. Ordered all my brass freeze plugs at the local NISSAN dealership. Less than $20 and picked up the next day. Nice looking motor. Please continue to update with the progress
  4. Boy do I wish I had know Pallnet had a Bolt kit. I spent 3 hours in the desert heat scouring a junkyard to find the correct ones. However there was a N42 head there as well. Will go back for it as a spare..Absolutely love the L6. $40 for a brand new lifetime warranty water pump. Will also get the turbo oil pump and alternator this week. It has gotten to where I just sit in the garage and look at it sometimes...
  5. I think Montezuma's attitude is better off. Make the drive and inspect it for yourself. Afterall it is the weekend coming up. With the ton of parts he is offering I honestly wouldn't expect him to photo catalogue all of it. There is a point to verify the more rare or expensive parts. There was at least an effort granted not whole heartedly. I tend to take people more at their word and judge of character. I would be more willing to believe him on ebay with his feedback score than simply posted on a forum. That being said I am hoping he doesn't meet his reserve so that I can intice him to sell individual pieces... Attitude remark was towards the fact that the auction wasn't a day old and already the posts are rolling in about it cannot be true. Where as the other site is I will go take a look and let ya'll know... I love the technical side of Hybrid and the forward thinking...But damn sometimes...Done
  6. Was amazed at the difference of attitude towards this car between this site and classiczcars. Good posting here by RON verifying the car. See the link http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22244&page=2
  7. Well I have succesfully found 4 of the 11 timing cover bolts from the local hardware store. Will take the 45 minute drive to the next town to use their home depot / lowe's. The longer bolts are the problematic ones..
  8. Got the engine painted graphite and installed the freeze plugs. Used permatex #1 for the sealant. Timing cover is painted black. Today I will go out and get the waterpump. Then I will have to source timing cover bolts. 30+ views in the wanted ads but no help. Damn. Also will need to find 2 of the thick washers that pinch the intake and exhaust manifolds together. Hope junkyard has them. Parts store looks at me with the retarded look...
  9. I agree with Akwikz. Too quick on the rush of judgement. However the car is in L.A. I bet if asked, one could stop by, to look it over in order to get a better perspective for bidding purposes. If this is an old LES car then maybe RON can chime in as I know he has a working relationship with him. He may be able to verify the car as being one of his old projects. I think the questions would be better served on the ebay site and simply repost the answers here if need be. He has been good about responding to my questions so far. Then again when I sold my last project car I got more discontent than actuall interest. Akwikz is the only one from this site to contact me directly with actuall questions. No one else could fathom a real GTR with legal paperwork for sale. I understand being carfull but the guy has an excellent feedback score so take it at face value is all I saying.
  10. Saw this on ebay was wondering if it was anybody here. Great project. I would guess the reserve is pretty high. Rightly so. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110005500854&fromMakeTrack=true Also, took the family down coast hwy 1 for the weekend. Saw a Z-World shop near Rebondo beach. Handfull of z cars in the parking lot. Didn't look like a new shop but with my Suburban full of kids I didn't stop. Anybody know anything about this place? Is it worth the drive to go back is kinda what I am getting at?
  11. Here is mine. I know it fits a RHD would like to check it against a LHD car. Turbine is a TD07 and wastegate is a Trust model..Pic is too big to attach so here is the link for gallery http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=2978&cat=500&ppuser=9707 I think with the turbine being as low as it is piping should be easier to fit..
  12. Yes, Technically it is not a hatch...The rear sloping line of the body has always seemed akward to me...Glad to see the idea you are after is alot better looking....Proper clone parts I think will be harder to find so good luck...If not you could always bozsu yankee the car...Would be a first here stateside I am sure...
  13. It may be a Skyline but damn is that body style ugly...Maybe thats why not too many running around that are worth while to have...If I was to get a hatchback nissan it would have to be a Z..Good luck turning it into something cool...I will race you to see who finishes their HAKOSUKA rebuild first....Should be picking my body up soon...
  14. Run a tap and some WD-40 thru the hole. CLean it up a little..Suggestion. As I didn't need a special bolt for my crank
  15. These are the TWM models. Got mine thru Redline..
  16. 1fastz...I will be sending you a PM with my plans, expectations for my Motor...Hope you can help fill in the blank spots....
  17. Cannot post attachments at this time so I put a link. An awesome built Chevelle in Malibu trim. Twin carbs, Blower, huge mickey's, full cage out right domestic dream...However my favorite was the rear bumper....Reads....Made in USA... http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=7929&cat=500
  18. Cool detail on the back bumper....Reads .....Made IN USA....twin carbs, blower, big block, full cage, huge Mickey's all the stuff domestics dream of...
  19. Decided against the Blow thrus. Tunning was going to be a pain. I tried to get period correct items. Difficult to track down. So instead it will be a N/A and will see about fitting the turbo in if room allows...I will not be cutting up my Hakosuka just to make a turbo fit....
  20. Gabe per the request here are traslated posts. Hard to hear what was being said so the parts that were written on screen she translated. I could not figure out how to save a snapshot of the screen and simply add the english under it so I marked play times. Someone else with more computer savy and a boring evening could possibly fix it the other way I am sure. Here it goes. OPENING SCREEN: Z cars were built for the street. These are extreme drag only versions. 00.21: Test Drive 00.25: OS Giken TC24B1 KKK F1 type twin turbos 00.34: Ti-cho. Meaning Leader or Captain. Talking about the before shown OS car 00.42: Talking about OS car again. Machine for street. Changing carb jets. Guessing for racing tune. 00.54: Blue Z. Extreme lightweight L28 gata KKK twin turbo 01.49: ? clutch slipping. Car is capable of faster times. 03.11: white smoke at finish line is of no concern. 04.31: Produced by CarBoy Magazine followed by This year was popular for more power challenge. 800ps? We got close! Not any real important stuff there but nice to know....
  21. I want to go see the movie to support a friend of mine. The scene with the drifting in the parking garage. Look for a Black Hakosuka. Don't know how much of it will be seen but they paid him around $4000 to use his car as a brackground piece. Gotta be in there somewhere for that price. I am also told all the LHD cars are heavily tinted to appear as RHD cars. Only the RHD cars are not tinted. Please post to how the movie is....
  22. Redline engine management. Same as the fuel system...It is the whole complete package.
  23. Here is a quick comparison on the pistons...Far right is the original L20a that came in my car. The middle piston the an Arias dome piston for the L28. Big improvement already. I took it to the highest level I felt comfortable with by adding the 89mm Escort pistons as seen on the far left. The silver coating on the 2 left pistons is a ceramic coating. About $200 for 6 pistons to be done..
  24. The red G-nose with the twin turbo, OS head and blow thru carbs....Absolutely awsome...I need more of that car is someone can find or has it...Another great video Gabe, Thanks
  25. Thanks guys, I have worked real hard trying to do this correctly the first time. The fuel management system is from Redline. They are here in SoCal. The fuel rail is from them as well as the complete induction system...TWM...I did notice the manifold being from Cannon. The throats of the throttle bodies didn't line up with the manifold very well. Lots of overlap. An afternoon with the dremmel cleaned it up pretty well. I have thought of Braap for the head but the build sheet from the pinks motor shows $1600. That's pretty hard to swallow..I have talked to Robello as he thinks around $800-$1000...1fastZ in Phoenix. A little closer and I will be heading thru there this summer as well..
