  1. Jim Cook Racing... Search in google.. They used to be the best zcar supplier around...Still got lots of stuff to check out! Mike
  2. You know... I don't even know where to start... Stealing from the rich, now there's an idea as old as time itself... This hits rather close to home, since someone tried to break into my shop within the last two weeks. For thieves reading this post, know that I carry a big f'n gun and know how to use it. Crispy, Is it your intent to get the thread locked? Some things aren't funny, and quite honestly I don't want to be associated with people who seriously have that "mentality". I'm not locking this thread, as I hope the thieves get caught with the goods. I'm also not deleting your post Crispy, because it's fitting that other members should see either: Your witt and humor or The real you... Good going slick! Mike
  3. I "think" we'll be doing an install on Joe G's car during the January 19th shindig. Anyone in the area can see exactly what it will take to install these during that install! Maybe we can get Doug Carrow to do a write up on it... Mike
  4. Well, At least both "toolkits" match! Pop-N-Wood, Your wife and Terry's wife need to go shopping together! Mike
  5. I'd have to say "It should". However, I went with this package because the OEM fronts are 13inch rotors that are vented and a really nice caliper setup. The fronts won't fit behind a 15 inch wheel. These are the fronts. Mike
  6. I'd agree with everything Grumpy said. Make sure if you're shooting a 3.5inch you buy a 10 gage. We've seen the 12s come appart during operation. They're simply not designed for the heavy impact the 3.5s put on the champer. My rule of thumb is this: Home defence - 410 or 20 gage for total control in closed quarters. Casual hunting of light to medium game - 20/16/12 gage. Medium to large game - 10 gage or rifle. This is a good general rule of thumb. However, I've always personally used a Mossberg 500 with an M16 stock and pistol grip slide pump for my homie... It's never let me down and looks mean as hell. Mike
  7. I have removed all the hardware from the interior, including the parking brake handle, and don't plan to use it myself. I have a parkloc installed, and will just use that. However, this is the same caliper Ross uses with his 13inch BB kit, and you can use the E-brake function with it. The rear rotor diameter on the 99-04 cobra is 11.75 inches (approx.) I have no clue. I've never had a 240SX adapter bracket. However, I do know that JCR still sells the brackets. Another member here just ordered them for $199. Mike
  8. John, I'd get it up in the air and check for rear suspension link or bushing failure somewhere. I had a similar situation on my C5 Vette when I had a lower ball joint that was not torques properly. The nut for the ball join was holding it on finger tight and had been missed upon reinstallation of the suspension after one of many repairs. Under throttle it would pull hard to that side (right side for me) and under braking would pull in the opposite direction. Also look to see if you've got a spot weld that gave way on the suspension pickup points... just some thoughts... Mike Mike
  9. Here are a few pics of the dash and gages I've decided to use... Mike
  10. OK Gang, here are pics of the 99-04 Cobra rear brakes installed on the Zcar using the JCR bracket. Don't panic, YES that's a wilwood two piece rotor you see in the pics. It's wilwoods direct replacement kit, and is exactly the same size as the OEM steal rotor. I'll be installing the factory OEM parts on another member's car in the spring and we'll take pics. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r226/Mikelly_2006/My%20Real%20Life%20Zcar%20Project/PICT0229.jpg Mike
  11. To answer your question... Yes, Z sellers are on Crack. I hope this cleared a few things up... Mike:cool:
  12. So I finally got around to reading the "feature" on the GT-R in Road And Track. This car weighs in at 3830+ pounds??? And they're claiming that it'll do 0-60 in approximately 3.5 seconds? At 480BHP? That's 7.9# per HP. To give a comparison, My 3564# 610BHP 996TT is 5.8# per HP. And you wonder why people think Nissan is being overly optomistic? The 2007 Z06 Corvette is pushing 6.23# per hp. These give you some comparisons. Maybe Nissan has found the holy grail of torque management with their transmission/transfer of weight/power. Time will tell and bench racing is fun and all. But until I see it stateside and in the hands of a private owner that I can "sample it" with, I ain't buying... That said, If it is what nissan claims, I do have the means buy one and may well, if they haven't published false "claimed" numbers. I'm dubios at this point though. Mike
  13. If you go to http://www.discbrakesrus.com and select Ford Mustang Cobra from 94-2003, you'll get everything you need! http://www.discbrakesrus.com/make/ford/mustanggtff.htm Mike
  14. That's funny, because I know of no Vette owners who would compare their cars to any four seat car, save for the Porsche 911. They simply don't think in terms of four seat sedans, which for some reason the BMW M3 is constantly compared to the vette by the bimmer crowd. Haven't heard much about the GT-R and I'm on the largest vette site on the internet about five times per day. Maybe it's because of the road racer crowd I run with, but that's all I can base my comments on. Brian, With that list of cars you posted, I have to ask, How many of them were drivable? I've owned 22 S-30s in the last 20 years and only had about 12 of them in running/safe condition... Mike
  15. Dude, You can NEVER EVER slam me for buying cars again! That's gonna be a hole lotta rosie when she's done! Mike
  16. I'm going to field this one, since A: I've owned three of these setups over the years. B: I'm feeling generous and kind. I'd buy a Holley Carburetor Basics book before you think about doing what you're going to do. You'll want to understand the various jets, pumps, and arms, plus how to setup the basics for the carb. You'll need to know how to setup the springs, the linkage for the pump discharge and picking the proper jets. Buy the book, read it, and then think about if you want to become good at rebuilding holley carbs. You will absolutely, at bare minimum need to know how to tune the carb and swap jets out, because it won't be "sized" properly out of the box. They never are for the L series motor. Mike
  17. Yup and the same day I pulled front wheels on my launch back on November 12th the same guy in that link was running his Z06 with the stock wheels/tires and turning 11.19s at 126-127MPH. Anyone who doubts the potential of the 2006-2008 Z06 is living in a dream world and if it weren't for the fact that I'm pushing 100HP more at the crank, I couldn't keep ahead of them in my little Ubber VW. The reason noone challenged the creds of the Z06 is simple. They've been battling it out hard and heavy in the ALMS and elsewhere, and the foundation built by the previous generation Corvette pretty much paved the way. The C5 Z06 was an amazing and obtainable car, and does many things well, for the money. The C6Z06 took it up several notches. I can tell you that anyone driving a C6 Corvette, Z06 or standard fare, isn't going to be "scared" of a GT-R. A standard 2008 C6 will probably run very similar times to the GT-R, at $20K+ less cost. If the GT-R is as good a car as the Z06, they'll still have to deal with the same issue my car is plagued by... To much WEIGHT! It's a nice car Brian, but it's one of many...Let us know when you get yours. I'll expect a full write up. Mike
  18. I don't think we'll see any of those new ZR1s running around. Guys will scoop them up and sit on them, thinking they'll be worth more than they are. Plus the mark up is gonna be nuts. Mike
  19. I think it's laughable that anyone owning "any" brand of car would be "in fear" of the release of the new Nissan. As has been shown thru many many videos on Youtube, The car doesn't make the driver... Brian, Enjoy the release and let us know when you get yours. I'd love to get your real world impressions of the car. Mike
  20. Jon, It's the same caliper mount as the JCR, which is the one I own. I checked the link and his pics. The hole and offset are for 79-81 280ZX caliper and rotor conversion onto a 70-78 Zcar. The Mustang caliper bolts to the outside of the bracket, with the bolt going thru the backside of the mount, and screwing into the caliper. It is a PERFECT offset, and "fit" to the rotor. Pads should wear perfectly with no under or overlap with the face of the rotor. Doug, You can document it when you come to the shindig on the 19th of January. I'm using the Wilwood 2 piece rotor setup I bought off Jamie, But the calipers are OEM Ford. I'm using the 13inch front setup from the Cobras and the rear setup is the GT I believe. The only thing I have left to do now is order some new rear caliper brake lines. Mike
  21. You're pretty much screwed from where I see it. I have been to small claims court a few times over the years, and it's a hard nut to crack. Chris, My advice would be to chalk it up to a valuable lesson learned. Move on and do everything you can to tell anyone who will listen about that bad shop and their "customer" service. Anything beyond that will be an expendature of time and money and nothing more. Mike
  22. Yup. And if he still has them, I'll pick up three more sets of them. This makes upgrading the rear discs on a Zcar, while retaining the E-brake, a NO BRAINER!!! Mike
  23. World beating performance? I don't know about that, but it is certainly good to see Nissan stepping it up a notch or three... So Brian, You put your order in yet? Mike
