  1. Put the bottle down Sportin' a toothpick, and get back to work! Mike
  2. Bad mounts happen... It's a 30+ year old car... I'd assume that everything made of rubber on a 30+ year old car, including the diff mount, should be replaced. Mike
  3. The issue would be making new axles with the appropriate ends on either side. The attractive thing about using the GM differential is that it comes with a selection of gears, and because GM vehicles are a fair amount heavier than the Zcar, you're guaranteed not to put the same amount of stress on them. Mike
  4. This is the first year I've wanted to go, badly... And I can't... Sux... You folks have fun and be safe on the road getting there, and the track while you're there. Mike
  5. That's a risky proposition. The 84-87C4 was the worst production years of a platform that wasn't a great car to begin with. I'd do a LOT of research on the generation of Vette, and then get on Corvetteforum.com and ask a lot of questions in their C4 category. You might also pick Grumpy's brain here, as he's owned a number of them. Mike
  6. That would be me, and I'm absolutely gonna use it! Mike
  7. Man that takes me back to when I was taking in and out my T56 in the white 260Z... I was almost in tears on the floor... ended up being something silly like that! Mike
  8. Damn, I guess you guys will put me on the cross, because I removed mine years ago... Of course, It's a track car and won't have side windows or other related creature comforts. 78280Z, you're in NewYork, where it gets cold in the winter... You'll at minimum need a defroster for the windshield... In Va. this is an inspection requirement. Mike
  9. I drop the tranny again, take a tape measure and mearure the input shaft and make sure it's the same lenght, and check the pilot bearing... Mike
  10. Edit, Just went back and re-read widowblacks comments... It's possible, but I'd still try bleeding the clutch before you drop it again. Rags, it's possible that you'll need to rebleed the clutch slave... Try that first. You may have introduced air past the pushrod on the slave. I had this happen years ago, and it drove me nuts. Mike
  11. We'll look at the options, and maybe it will be kept in tact and just made public. I was told by the folks at the magazine that the article was kept in tact and all is good. I've got to link the video clips thru youtube, but otherwise we're done. Mike
  12. MSA and JCR, along with AZC all used to sell them... Not sure if JCR still does, but I was a HUGE fan of them... I think they look good on one, and I'd get my old one back from JT1 if he'd sell it to me! Mike

    pop ups

We have banners at the top and bottom... But Pop-ups? I don't get ANY pop-ups from HybridZ and never have... Mike
  14. We've been researching this a bit as well... What I was told is that if you want to run the AC and other high draw devices, you'll need 8K or better. If you don't care about AC, then you can get away with 5800 or better. My business partner is feeding his house with a 6K unit and he's got everything except the ac running off it... He's powering 4600 SQft of space. I was trying to get something more "portable" so I could wheel it into the car trailer to take to the track, but I may just end up getting a small unit for that, mounted on a platform and get a real home unit for the house and have it setup as Doc has his. Mike
  15. You really don't want to go down this path... I'm telling you from experience that it AIN'T CHEAP, and that the parts available to do the OTHER swap are cheaper... This is from experience... Nothing more. Do a search on Tim240Z and find his thread on the Q45 axles. You'll get a MUCH BETTER understanding of what is involved. Mike
  16. My axles aren't stock... Shoulda mentioned that... Tim240Z had the centers provided by a vendor. These axles are supposed to be much stronger than the stock Q45 center section. When you price the four CVs to get the ends, the adapters, then the centers (I will be making a LOT of power) and all the rest of the parts, it gets real expensive... Mike
  17. The pantera hatch causes more problems than its worth... We didn't test the configuration that you are asking about, but the wind tunnel engineer basically told us that to just get back to a zero state (No lift), you'd have to have a pretty tall winge that spilled off the back of the car. Sticking a whaletail up on the roofline does nothing to spoil the near wake. Mike
  18. Once the article goes to the news stands, this category will be closed and all data moved to the misc. tech forum... There was lots of back and forth on files/data/info and I pray they got it all squared away... It's in the NEXT issue of Nissan Sport, so cross your fingers! Mike
  19. I'd chat with a mechanic about it... I had an air pocket in mine, and didn't know the sequence for bleeding air out of the system... Mine's a ZRX1100 Kawi, but I'd bet yours has a similar proceedure. Mike
  20. hexles alone will set you back at minimum $1000, plus the adapters, plus a custom mount you need to make, since no body sells one, plus finding the dif and the adapter. I'd say it would cost at least $2000 to duplicate, and a quaiffe equipped rear is probably stronger. Mike
