  1. Tony, YES... Les was in the Navy and spent time in Japan. I loaned him my Gnose so he could make molds and sell them... He disappeared in the middle of me building my garage. He took my Gnose and a one off taillight panel/ rear spoiler combo that I've never seen before. The guy is a real piece of work... Mike
  2. I'll have to take some pics with the latest additions, but the hoodscoops aren't on the car anylonger... I just picked up a carbon fiber hood that Jamie Taylor bought from John Coffey... It's gonna get pinned onto the car, but for right now it's just "sitting" on it... Looks mean as hell! Also picked up Jamie's wilwood/ Mustang Cobra brake kit and will be selling my stock setup tomorrow. I'll get pics up over the next few days... Mike
  3. Well John bought the car "ass-is" with the nose installed. We have no idea what was modified by the previous owner. That said, It looks identical to the unit I drove to Atlanta to buy and that Les Heath took and never returned. Mike
  4. Um, I've been around these cars for over 20 years and it looked identical to every other Gnose I've had experience with... Mike
  5. You're correct, it is 55 inches... I thought it was 57, but on my way to work I went out and measured it this morning, after reading this post. Mike
  6. Sorry Gang, I was out of town last week and playing catch up this week. We've spent time over the last three day weekend starting the modification of the home Donna and her Husband *(My sister's brother, Ricky) live in. The walls, door ways, bedroom, and master bath have to be significantly modified, and that's what's been going on. Monday we were re-framing the walls for the hallway, and doorways, and re-sheetrocking them. My other brother inlaw, Ricky's brother Mike has taken the next several weeks off from work, and will be running this operation... The interesting thing is that we have to pay for this out of pocket, and then at some point later the insurance company will reemburse the family for the expenses, as long as the mods were done and inspected, and passed to ADA specifications. I'll be working with the family on this as much as I can over the next 10 days or so. Donna is doing well in physical therapy and coming along well. She moved out of UVA about 3 weeks ago and is now in a rehab facility in Charlottesville Va. She gets hotspots, sometimes gets feeling in portions of her legs, and sometimes has her feet move without trying.... We're not sure if she'll ever walk again, but the prognosis is good and her spirit and determination is high and strong! Latest on the insurance company debacle is that they are finally realizing the significance of their liability. The trucker was traveling 51MPH in a 45mph zone when she started braking for impact, approximately 75ft. before impact with Donna's car. To leverage their losses, they've decided to go after the manufacturer of the car seat (I believe that's adelphi or another subcontractor to GM) to blame them for Donna's extensive injuries, since the seat collapsed back when the impact occured. Gee, I guess that wouldn't have had anything to do with an 18 wheeler hitting her from behind at speeds above 40MPH! More to come! Mike
  7. De-bug it and then report back to us... My guess is it'll get to that point you thought it should be at... Mine was a pig at first and then 10:98s in the 1320... Mike
  8. Sometimes I get in a hurry, and "assume" everyone is following me... Carl, You're correct in that the whaletail increases the "lever" effect and puts pressure on the rear, overcoming the front BRE spoiler, where as the GNOSE increased both. However, the Gnose should have (And most likely would have) done the exact opposite if it had the items jt1 mentions above done to compensate for those 'frontal" drag related problems... Then you'd have had the exact same scenario as the rear whaletail, except on the front of the car, with the rear "lift" increasing. Mike
  9. Come on guys, lets ralley around the troop and vote! Mike
  10. There's another Zcar site on the web? Who'da thunk? Mike
  11. They come with a guide on how to orient them from outter edge to inner, from right to center and then from left to center. Mike
  12. I have to echo what Sportnachubby just posted... The LS1 is in my opinion a far superior motor design, and there's been so much development work done by the aftermarket community that getting 500Crank HP is pretty common now days. YES, it's a more expensive motor to start with, but it will reward you in more ways at a cheaper end cost. I built a forged bottom LS1 with ported heads/TR224 cam kit and I think I had maybe $6200 in everything, when I still had my C5 Vette. The motor tuned well and I made an honest 386whp and 382#ft. of torque. That motor in a Zcar would have been awesome. Mike
  13. I'd recommend taking another look at tests number 20-23. Copying me would pretty much copy the car in those tests, with a few few tips from Roddy's car. Mike
  14. These were a pack of ten in a box from a vendor... Lots of folks have been buying them lately... You don't have to get them from Mitsubishi. I did a little digging and found the source for the ones on my car... http://www.manufacturersdepot.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.577/.f Also this is who I bought the wing from off ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/55-UNIVERSAL-ABS-CARBON-LOOK-SPOILER-WINGS-WING-CAR_W0QQitemZ330126048348QQihZ014QQcategoryZ33638QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Mike
  15. I wouldn't just run out and buy any large wing without doing as was hammered into our heads repeatedly. Get a plan together for total package and proceed. Beyond that, I can't comment further... Mike
  16. Sad to say, but I don't even know who made it. It came off an ebay auction and is an ABS unit that looks carbon-ish and is 57 inches wide. I took an hour centering and measuring. It's not 100% bolted down, as I need to replace two of the mounting bolts, but otherwise it's done. Mine is a metal hatch and I'll be adding backing plates to each side to make sure we have no serious issues with mounting. Mike
  17. David, It's getting there. I hope to have it fired up by the weekend of the 21st of July, which is our next Mid-atlantic HybridZ Shindig. I have a "non-PCA" event in October with Mazdadrivers that I'm doing with my stepson, at Summit point. I'd like to have it ready for that event! Mike
  18. Bought the wing on ebay and I did a search on google and found the vortex generators from another vendor who sold a lot of "stuff"... I unfortunately didn't book mark it, but I'll look in the paperwork later and get the maker's info and post it. Mike
  19. Here are a few additions to my Zproject track car... I added the wing. The rear vortex generators are NOT attached yet. I'll mark up the car and place them once I can get the car washed and dry. Ton of dust on it right now... I also have some canards to attach. We'll see how they turn out. Mike
  20. Joe, Use some ARP wheel studs and buy some decent selections of spacers from someplace like S&W Racecars. Just beware...Good spacers can run a few bucks. Also, I'd check w/ Discount tires direct. They might have some decent wheels with a "close" offset for your application. You could also think about going to 5 lug and getting some cheap Mustang wheels! Mike
  21. This would have to be a separate effort all together. You'd have to start with a bunch of ZXs and approach it similarly to how we did with the testing in the initial write up... That would have to be done by others who are more familiar with the ZX platform. I've never owned one and don't intend to. Mike
  22. I'm very interested in the exhaust dump outs and how the exhaust was routed...Looks VERY trick... Mike
  23. You boys would both be wrong. Spacers are used ALL THE TIME in racing... Wheel spacers are a very common site in many a racing trailer tool box... Mike
  24. Sorry Gang, Been in Florida for a week... I'll get with Eric and Davy and catch up on the contest... Keep those entries coming... Mike
