hmmm, reading that back again that doesn't sound right.... I admit it! I'm an idiot. Don't listen to me... And no i'm not joking or being sarcastic. Otherwise i'd be using smilies.

I think the fastest time is the guy who owns the place. I'd imagine with fresh tires and an empty tank too. I could see taking off half a second with the same car. If my tires were griping just a little better I'd been able to go much faster. But yes, almost 3 seconds difference... it's still alot.

Well, i was never one for "show races" like the oakland roadshow (i know a guy that was one of the main starters, lives down the street) and I was also never a fan of the real uptight SF races where everyone who shows up is a 9-11 sec car. That's just too agreesive for me to trust the other driver. I was more into the low key get togethers where betting wasn't done as much as it was. Problem is that crowd changed alot come fast n' furious era... I havn't been back to the street since.

They have a Z4M concept going through it's paces. With 343HP it should be out about a year after the Z4 coupe. Probly be closer the price of a Z8 than a Z3 though.

And you like the looks of the 350Z?

Ok, bachalor's party last night. We went to one of those indoor cart places that put you in a fire suit and such. VERY FUN!!! I loved it, especially since I won 8) There was about 5 minutes or so of practice/qualifying after wich they set you up in a bracket order by fastest lap time. I was first with my brother right next to me in 2nd. I knew he'd be my only competition. He spun out 2nd lap... Never needed assistance getting his car back around so he never lost too much time, but in total he spun out 5 times. I spun twice during the practice but didn't at all during the race. My fastest lap was in the 23.1xx range while the next fastest driver was in the 24.0xx range (my brother). I think if I go back again I could lower my time half a second or so. I spent much of the race in traffic. So here's the readout I got. I plan on going again sometime with some friends that might actaully compete with me. It's in fremont and the place is called lemans karting. PM me if you want to be notified when I go again. It's kinda expensive, but it's more fun than a full day at scandia (go karts, arcade, water buggies, ect.) and you spend less than you would for a full day at a place like that. My adrenaline was pumping the next 2 hours, and i'm moderatelly sore too. EDIT: OH yea.... they spelt my name wrong... my hand writing isn't THAT bad is it? Dang.

Ok, BMW is showing the new Z4 coupe that should hit floors mid-06. It's dead sexy in my opinion and I think it looks 100 times more like a S30 Z than the new 350Z. Why can't nissan make a REAL take back car? Ford can do it with the mustang, why can't nissan do it with the Z? http://www.automobilemag.com/auto_shows/frankfurt/0509_bmw_z4_coupe/

I love the ZZII and thanks for reminding me about it. Can't believe I almost forgot about them.

I'm a firm believer that MTBE will cause any car to run worse than without. Living in cali every car my family & friends have owned has seen both MTBE gas & non-MTBE gas (thanks to 76). Non MTBE gas runs smoother and gets better gas milage in every first hand witness car. I don't care if it burns "cleaner" if it burns like crap.

I don't know about you guys, but i've never seen anyone give anyone lengths at a street race........... All street racing i've seen has been 100% heads up. You might get to see your opposition run against someone else, but there isn't any "test" or "practice" runs.

Well imagine that... I may end up keeping my 240zt yet AGAIN!!
Gollum replied to a topic in Non Tech Board
If you can keep for a while I'd raise the price back up to 6k, just my 2 cents. Just curious, are you gonna sell the 300zx edu & maf with the car? -
I'd go with a honda hatch. One of my favorite mags is bestmotoring, and they're a video mag based out of japan. By far one of the most unbiased resources on japanese cars. They recently did a shootout here in the US for the first time. An EG civic hatch beat the crap out of many of the cars there and made everyone else look like a joke. An evo that was supposed to run was having problems (head gasket i think) an so they randomly asked a civic owner there if he wanted to enter his car. Find out later he drove all the way to socal from chicago and his muffler fell off mid trip! The owner built the car himself and showed that a well thought out home built EG can give some of the best shops a run for thier money who have much more expensive cars with more money invested. This episode changed the way I view FF racing. http://www.bestmotoringvideo.com/movies/vol21_wmv.html

I'd say go for it. 120HP is high for a trueno. There are guys out there drifting with sub 100hp truenos. You don't need HP when you don't have tire 8) Since the bug doesn't have much tire to begin with you're fine. Just lighten it up a bit, do some minor suspension work and get sideways I'd be worried about overspin more than anythign else. Do you know what the weight balance is F/R? Generally mid engine cars are highly unstable while drifting because of the rear weight bias, wich is what made the old rear engine porsches were so scary to drive in the rain. If you have to put some bricks up front to make it more stable. I like the S12 idea but only if you can find one cheep.

Well.... Nope. No such thing. Just look at jay leno If I had the money there are 2 car projects i'd be working on right now. But I don't quite have the means yet. Maybe soon. You've only got 3 cars now, wich seems perfect to me, since one is a truck. Here's the skinny. You need 1 commuter/town car that gets good gas milage. You need 1 vehicle for hauling stuff if you need to (trucks basically) You need as many toy cars as you can afford You can only skip the truck if someone close to you owns a truck that you can borrow. You can only skip the toy car if it's also you commuter or if you don't have the money. So 3 cars is perfect 8)

An RX7 on HZ??? I'm only kidding I had to make a comment like that after datsunatx's post 8) Looks like some clean work. And I'm ALWAYS a fan of a ford swap And those flares look really nice on the FB. Looks like it should have came that way from the factory.

Well, I guess I AM insane as I expected..... I see the AWD system being a major issue, and the more I thought about it the more I realised the nissan AWD system won't work at all. Once again, I'm not seriously considering doing this ANY time soon, but I love to dream up projects and overcome (in my mind) the main hurdles involved. This kinda of project would require a totaly overhaul of the back end. Tube framing would also help in the front end to have somewhere to put the tanks & such. The more I think about it the more I think It would be a comeplete rebuild of the chassis for sure. I wonder if it would be more effective to do a dual rotary AWD system...

^ what the doc said. They have no real reason to fire her.

LOL, true that b_sostock. I don't think it's THAT bad guys. I'm not keen on the hood, and the front is a little wierd, but I think the new C6 front end looks more like a mazda than this things does. Other than some small front end quirks I like the look of it.

Yea, and the new GT500 is a full trim vehicle. The cobra R was as stripped as any stang has ever come. We can talk stangs all day long at the vacaville meet I'll try to bring my encyclopedia of mustang knowledge with me called my brother 8)

Hmm, i didn't know ethonal burned so much cleaner. You'd think they could at least start designing cars to warm up with ethonal then transfer to gasoline. Had a great conversation with my grandpa (used to work for oil companies as an engineer) about a guy he knew who had set up his deisel motor to run on penut oil, but in order for it to burn the oil had to be preheated to 180 degrees F, so it would start on deisel then transfer over to penut oil, wich was right around .55 a gallon.

I realise your point. And thus I'm not going to take my argument any farther becuase I realise that I havn't supplied any proof or data. So I'll leave them as opinions. Thanks for kicking us down to reality john.

Bushings Bushings Bushings...
Gollum replied to Gollum's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I'd read that thred before, wich is what got me worried in the first place. So i guess I'll just go with a rubber replacement until I can foot the bill for a adjustable tension rod. As always, you're all a big help. Thanks. EDIT: I'll probly go with the MSA TC rod compression kit -

So what's so special about the ES bushings? And will I not have to worry about the Tension Rod bushings because they're "better?" 140 is still cheeper than all the MSA bushings, so I'll probly go with ES anyways. I just want to know what I'm buying. -

Summit only has the control arm bushings listed in thier online catalog for the 280ZX. -
I think you mean SVT, and it's not officially an SVT vehicle. Although SVT designed the entire car, it wears a shelby badge. And yes it will be solid axle. It's a 3 link that's far superior to anything the stangs have ever seen. The pervioud cobras were IRS and weren't terrible great, but they weren't bad. The cobra R is still known as the best autox stang ever made, we'll see what happens when the GT500 hits the market.
