  1. He'll have to go to a state ref and get a swap bar put onto his engine bay. He'll have to pass a test that all the emisson equipment is there and operational. And it also has to be from a same year/newer vehicle. After that, it'll get smogged as the vehicle it came out of at the biannual test. I'm over in the richmond, so if you ever want to talk smog I'm game. I'd love to watch your progerss. I hope all goes well. Sounds like a fun swap.
  2. Ummm, he's GOT to be talking about 1/8th. I think if there was a 5 sec z out there it would be a common household coversation. Those usually aren't the "weekend racer" types.
  3. Well, imitaiton IS the highest form of flattery.
  4. if it doesn't come out well, I'll try my hand at it monday. I'll have some time then... i think.
  5. Yet not ONE responce in my MAWD proposal thred.... To give credit to the members, it's probly not the idea that keeps people from posting, but just the insanity and pointlessness of it.
  6. m/ Looks sick man. Clean work for sure. B-E-A-UTIFUL. Can't wait to see rolling footage
  7. That's a pretty gay idea. The "better than stock" argument sucks, cuz for the same price you can get a REAL intake that's much better. Now, I've tryed to get a car to suck up water... It HARD. Seriously though. Performance filters are very water resistant and the engine's force isn't strong enough to actually bring water through the intake (note, this was on a 175HP 4 banger, might be different with a 400HP v8).
  8. You'd be surprised what get's by even the ref! Most refs in CA would pass any hondo motor in a honda as long as it fit certain criteria, such as 1) displacement 2) OBD regulations on that year's model (has to be a US spec EMC because it will show up as JAP on the test) That's pretty much it. If you took a B16A and put it in a CRX and changed the valve cover they wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The REAL issue with putting a RB motor in a Z is that all RB motors are OBD and the Z & ZXs arren't OBD at all. So there would be alot of hidding involved.... So is the RB30DE cross flow. Never mind, don't answer me. I'll do my own research. I'm not sure how they check displacement. I remember when I got my ZX smogged at a ref he said "what size motors are these supposed to have?" And I said "2.8" and he said "man, they really gyped people, it came up quite a bit under" I know there's a bit of information they take from the underhood stickers. I wonder if that's where they get the cc rating or something. Well, poker is calling. I'm still going to contimplate this install if I decide to keep my ZX for the long haul.
  9. Good working order? High mileage on the motor or something? DANG that's cheep. I'd expect to pay at least 6k for one with a blown motor. Speaking of buying RX7s. My friend with a B16A crx is gonna buy a RX7 soon and build up a motor for the low 400HP range. He's just gonna use it as a town car. It's too bad he's not into autoxing. Well, good luck with the new car. They're AWSOME. Enjoy it at all costs, that's what they're for.
  10. got a bone to pick with him? I'll see what I can do, but you're need someone who knows him personally for a 100% positive location.
  11. Hmm, clearance might be an issue. I can't picture it on a Z, so i can't really give an opinion.
  12. Yea, i realised that after looking at it a while. I guess that's why nobody has done it yet. That would be a good percentage of the build cost/work.
  13. LOL, I just spit coke onto my keyboard. I'd love to see a xB flying around suburbia. That's such a great mental image.
  14. I'd be there in a hearbeat if that was in CA.
  15. Sounds like a Class A Type I certified jerk. As always, thanks for looking out for the people need4z. A true hybridz thing to do.
  16. Gollum

    O Rly?

What... the.... $%^&?! You're more than weird aux.
  17. NICE DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!! You could have asked for a miracle, and this seems even better than that! That's awsome man. Now i'm just waiting for the miracles to roll my way now 8)
  18. Good things come to those who wait. ... so i'm waiting for you to give me your z 8)
  19. 5 years down the line someone walks up to you "Man, that's some nice FG work man. Where did you learn how to do it that well?" And you respond in a crazy/spooked voice "I learned from the nightmare they call halloweeeeeen"
  20. Yea, I know. That's why I said "USED" to. I preffered it when it was exclusive. They had a crowd not so different from us here. Very smart, willing to help people.
  21. Daniel's girlfriend wanted him to look for leather pants I bet. That's really funny though. Good sence of humor.
  22. I wish I had the money to have your problem 8)
  23. Best of wished for ya man! My mom's been self-employed for... almost 10 years now. Best thing she ever did. Her buisness has gown far beyond what she could have ever been able to make working under someone, and she's her own boss. It just rocks all when you don't have to explain to the boss why you need to take time off ya know? Hope it all goes better than you could have dreamed.
  24. Ok. I've been hunting for V6 options for... and hour at most. This is the most promising thing I've found. It's ultra light, has good potential, streetable, decent MPG, and would alow for a DARN good weight distrobution as no FMIC is required and the block itself much lighter than any cast V8 block. http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Performance/basch_boost.htm Now.... Tranny would be an issue. Gotta make a conversion plate. I have no idea how hard that is, custom mating a tranny to an engine. Ok, shoot it down please. I'm looking for a real argument against it.... ok.. so it costs a pretty penny i'm sure. EDIT: Here's a "race built" motor for 12k. It sounds like it's all well done, just gotta wonder why he's selling it with that much invested. http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58197
  25. Well, you could always go rotary like aux But there isn't nearly the same potential as the RB motors. I think it would be best to have a motor with a low center of gravity that you can get tons of HP with NA. This would eliminate the fmic weight that's way too far forward, and would also eliminate alot of piping & turbo weight. This is why the V8 is so perfect for the Z. Personlly though, I think the weight of a V8 is a bit high. I'd much rather run a high compression V6 for optimum weight distrobution. I don't think i've ever been more convinced of a V6 swap that I am right now. I'm gonna start looking to some good V6 options. JohnC, please correct me if my train of thought is wrong in this post. Also, I think there are alot of other things you can look at too. I don't know of any companies off hand, but CF fenders & hood would take a good amount of weight of the front. I think that's just as important to think about as the motor option.
