mmmmmmm wise this one is In the old group b (or was it c) cars in japan they used special preheated qualificaiton lap tires that would be GONE in one lap around fuji (a 2 minute lap in most stock vehicles) and had to pit immediatelly becuase they would start to fall apart. They clock some of the fastest times fugi will ever see (since restrictions started to come into play at that point and fugi was just redesigned) so tires are a big factor. And DANG, i need to go improve my times at the ring. You just modivated me I spend 90% of my GT4 time between drifting and getting that 100% complete status. I don't do enough time trials.

Hmm when I first read this post I thought for sure it wouldn't get any replies. To back up what braap said... http://www.streetrodstuff.com/Articles/Engine/Detonation/ detonation can be very hard to notice and under a mild engine builds unoticable until the engine is pushed hard. Like BRAAP mentioned, you might be fine under low RPM, but higher RPM and on pump gas you'll most likelly have SOME form of detonation. But if you're not getting very much HP/CI then the motor can usually take it, as long as it's not sustained. And I must just be a plain fool to not believe that a 11.1 compression non corss flow 2v motor won't detonate on CA spec 91 octane. There are plenty of vehicles that will detonate on CA gas from facotory, but have knock sensors to retard the timing. With an old L series motor you're gonna run into problems. You'll NEED a programable ECU and some dyno tuning time just in hopes to get it to run on 91 octane. To just assume bolting on a MN47 head on a flat top L28 will be fine and dandy, is just plain wishful thinking. But I still believe it's perfectly doable. Just takes more care that most people will realise.

Just so you know... My best in simulation is only 5:49 while in arcade it's 5:31. Big difference. If you watch the vid you'll notice when he hits bumps the dampers absorb REALLY well and somehow when you expect the car to slide it doesn't. There's alot that I can't understand about his video. Now, I FULLY understand that GT4 can't be compared to real life. I'm just showing that GT4 is fairly accurate for stock vehicles but falls down on the job with the supercar speeds. LFS is a much more realistic game than GT4, but has horrible graphics and no funding by comparison. If I said GT4 felt 40% accurate to real driving I'd have to put LFS at 80% like real driving. The last 20% resides in feel. Those are the things that games at thier current state can't reproduce. But GT4's representation of the nurburgring is exremely accurate, and I'd like to see someone clock a low 5 minute lap sometime in real life. (also note the GT4 video I linked to was with the car fully tuned, whereas the stock version is the race restricted HP of the real car. That right there could make a 30-45 second difference).

I was actually pretty impressed with the acurracy of the track in GT4. For the most part cars were +/- 10% of thier real life counterpart. There's a guy on gtplanet who is running mid 4 minute laps. I don't think that's ever been done. He also does it in the arcade mode and I believe the physics are simplified a bit. Here's a vid of him running a 4.44 http://www.davidanderson.org.uk/files/gt4/veilsidebrnurburgringminolta44.wmv He uses a toyota minolta becuase he likes it. I think there are cars with more potential in the car for sure. The most impressive part is that he's not using any driver aids and he uses the driving force pro wheel in 900 degree mode. Most GT4 fans think the reason real life times don't get that fast is because it takes too much guts and 'on the limit' driving. What do you guys think?

don't worry, it was night, so you can't see the clouds flying by

if we start voting people off I'd better keep my suitcase handy.

NICE. Vid might not work becuase your divx codecs aren't up date maybe? Worked find for me.

I think it was diff whine, because you can year a lower pitch that changes with the shifts. When the video started I didn't look at the title up at the top and I thought to myself "I wanted to see the northern track ;( " Then I saw him pull off to the northern track, and that made my day. And that's turning a frown upside down Anyone know what kind of tranny setup he was using. It seemed like each gear had it's own spot and it wasn't sequential, but I also didn't see his left foot move at all.

My friend used to be a loan shark and was his own enforcer. He also loves road trips. We got the west coast covered 8)

i sometimes watch adult swim. But not on a regular basis. I don't really watch tv in my room at night, since that would require unplugging the PS2 or gamecube.

Since this IS "Hybrid" Z, I had to show this here

You know... The new mustangs have some FAT looking a**es. Somehow those lights work better on the ZX than on the new stangs. Very nice work. I'm definatelly gonne keep my eyes open more often for tail light donors. Looks like some serious work when into all that. Very well done m/ -
$250 doesn't seem bad at all. VB charges $100 JUST for shipping. So tack that on to the $120 for the fender and you're not saving much for a part that might not fit all that well. Yea, usually NOS is parts that have been lying around a while, wich could be good or bad. But someone has to pay for the 20+ years of shelf space wich is why it usually costs a pretty penny.

I remember when I first hear that they were gonna remake the mini and have a 160hp copper S version... that was a sad day. WOOHOO 160 here we go! A good Vtech motor is what those things have been longing for.
-
WOW. I'm REALLY into theoretical physics and I must say, that's amazing.
-
WOOHOO! MY car is famous. I'm gonna paint it brown and sell it on ebay!
-
ok, HZ isn't copyrighted, but if someone was making AND selling HZ items, you guys would want a cut right? I'm just thinking that if I ever were to make anything HZ related I'd just cover costs (parts and my cheep labor) and then send the rest off to the admins. Gotta pay for the servers somehow I guess.

You suck. I expect a free car someday. It's called 'handmedowns'.

I've taken this long too post becuase I was digesting the vids (downloaded first day it was up). First vid impresses me less and less the more I watch it. Sure it sounds awsome and the speed is amazing. But the driving didn't seem smooth in the clower corners at all. This 'could' be the car's setup but it just seems a bit jerky to me, that's all. The second vid... Well, that guy is just insane. I wonder what a car like that would do to a deer...
-
Yea, the black ZX in my signature that I drove to the meet. It's my only Z car at the moment. Anyone want to help a fellow HZ member pull some dents?
-
I guess I'll post it here... My ZX was victim of a hit and run that night before the meet ;( Just fender damage but it pinched the door shut, so I have to either cross the center console to get it, or have the t-tops off and jump in & out. Sad day for me. But the meet was still fun. Always fun to meet some guys from hybridZ.
-
Yea, I run 215's on my stock ZX wheels. Grips SO much more than the previous tires (wich had been run flat so the sidewalls were destroyed). Got all 4 put on balanced and alaigned for $205 if I remember correctly. Previous tires could spin 2nd a bit and sometimes get 3rd to chirp a tiny bit. These new ones I can't get to make any noise in 2nd (might have to do with really soft clutch and tranny that doesn't like to shift at high RPM).
-
I'd go with the supra the more I think about. Bell housings are availible, just have to have it shipped from auzzie land.

I've got a VID of a S30 Z with one. I totally forgot about it. So it fits for sure 8) Just right click and save target as http://www.1uzfe.com/260Z.wmv

I've been frequenting that site alot lately. It's nice to know someone from there checks out hybridZ. The motor in question for me is the older model (93' LS 400 I believe). From what I understand the factory bottom end should be good for a realiable 500 HP (correct me if I'm wrong). I'd be keeping it factory for a while till I got the rest of the car well up to par or beyond that. Then I was actually looking at the rebuild service lextreme offers with a shop partner and going with the mild setup. I'm looking for as broad of a usible tourque band as I can get. I'm not looking for huge numbers (street car) so anything more than 500 becomes unmanagable. At any rate, thanks for stopping in with the info on the motor. I think we might have found a V8 donor motor that can match the price/potential ratio of the Z chassis
