  1. I think it is for roll over protection. THe rack on the top holds the booms out to the side of the car and the stuff in the rear goes from the boom down to near the road surface.
  2. 80 comes way to fast in these cars. Pay a lawyer to make it go away and get a radar detector. Hope you can get out of it.
  3. I vote for a sticky. Great info. Just need to host the images on this site and dump image shack.
  4. Good job on the repair. Glad it worked out.
  5. Congrats on the new car! Looking forward to meeting your wife at the track soon.
  6. congrats on having a "finished" car. Beautiful!
  7. Before you replace the inserts, go back and check the rear control arms. Make sure the large bolts on the ends that hold the bushings on the ends of the arms are tight. I doubt the insert went bad just as you upgraded the brakes and bushings. Ive had similar noises which were caused by a loose gland nut, worn aluminum and delrin bushings and loose nuts/bolts on the rear suspension.
  8. Did you check the gland nut? ( holds the insert in the strut housing) What did you replace with urethane in the rear suspension?
  9. I've bought the car, the wife is hot however she is in desperate need of a new pair of glasses.
  10. One more question, Where is your knock sensor located?
  11. 02 sensors would be the first place I would look. When I have a snesor go bad the car runs like crap. Are you using new sensors? Are you sure you sure you have the right sensors? Do you have a good connection from the sensor to the ECU? Will the car run correctly if you disconnect the 02 sensors after it starts to stumble? How far down stream are the sensors?
  12. How does having the exhaust dumping at that point effect the fumes in the car? That sounds great!
  13. Ok you win, I'm turning around.
  14. Is that an all steel slant nose? Was it originally a slant nose? Oh by the way, Im half way to Pampano with my trailer.
  15. Nice ride. Will it be tracked? I bet it will be at least once.
  16. Good luck John. Got any info on the car, a link perhaps? Would love to see what you are looking at.
  17. I've probably got one laying around if you are going to be back down my way. Let me know and bring some oatmeal raisin cookies when you come. Glad you found the problem.
  18. Small wire is the sensing wire. It needs a 12 volt signal to it. I ran the out put to the battery with a fusable link inbetween. Some one posted a link a while back on alternator wiring. It was a very good explanation of the different ways to wire alternators and the reasons behind it. Try sreaching the electrical forum.
  19. Remove the plastic cover on the steering column. several screws from underneath. THere are 4 phillpis screws that hold the ignition switch to the column. Remove these, remove the switch, pull the column lock back out of the column. Now put the key in the switch and see if the switch will turn. It should turn OK with out having to work the column lock. Hose the column lock down with WD 40 and it should work for a while. Good luck, Mark
  20. If you want to drive down to charlotte, I've got an r-200 and a couple of r180's you can choose from. Just carry it out of the garage and it's yours.
  21. Take the upolstered pannel off the inside of the hatch. Reach in there with your finger and push the latch that the button normally pushes. Easy fix.
  22. I looked at your web site (slow day here) and I would put my money on a loose bolt. Look at the control arm hangers(for lack of a better term) that support the rear control arms. Check all those nuts and bolts, anything that supports or locates the control arms. I hope you find it. I usually end up waiting for stuff to fall off. Easier to find but much more expensive to fix. Don't be like me.
  23. You have something loose in the rear suspension. I know you have checked it but go back and check it again. Look at inner and outer control arm bushings and the suspension mounting points including the mustache bar mounting points. Something is loose, worn or broken. Good luck
  24. I was already having a bad day and you just made me feel insignificant! JK
