  1. Crappy '73 240 with header, some racing cam, twin SU carbs, fiberglass front cap, bondo everywhere, paid $200.00, sold after high school , 1989. 1990, o.k. condition '73 240, mostly stock, drove the crap out of it until sold in 1992. I paid $800.00 for it. 1993, '75 280, $500.00, stock, but in fair shape. Slowly worked on it for the next few years, adding a built 350V8, trans etc. Then in 1999, I had the Z stored at my Mother's place, we had a major falling out, (one of many), and she had the car towed to a salvage yard, complete with V8 and all the go-fast stuff I had saved up. I was jobless and broke at the time and could not afford to get the car back. Yes, I lost it! This is one of the many, many, reasons I still don't talk to her to this day, but that is another story. 1998, '72 240, paid $1,800, stock, in pretty good shape. Bought it to install V8 from the above mentioned '75 280. When I lost the '75, the '72 just sat until 2001, when I gave it to my step-dad, who had divorced my "challenged" mother, (I'm being nice)! He and I tinkered with it now and then installing a 4.3 V6/700R4 trans. Then I move to Denver from Louisiana where the Z is in late 2003. He has since remarried and lost interest in the Z, and says I can have it back. One problem, I am unable to go get until at least early/mid spring. Anyway, that is my Z story.
  2. I had a .040 over 327, very nicely ported camel hump heads like yours. It had a comp cams 292H hydraulic cam, Torker II intake, 750 Holley. All of this was in my '80 Olds Cutlass, TH350 trans, 3000 stall. When I had some 2.90 something gears, that motor had one heck of a topend. Then came 4.56 gears and the car hauled pretty good for being 3,5000 pounds or so. Your 327 should do VERY nicely in the Z with the 4-speed. Good luck.
  3. He didn't even bring me a non-rusted 240Z..........boo hoo!
  4. That is great you guys are getting along now. Your Mom probably doesn't like the wife because she was treating you badly. It's a protective parenting thing. Now that the wife has come to her senses, maybe she and Mom can work it out. Maybe plan a shopping trip or a day at the "spa" for them to spend some quality time. Anyway, good luck.
  5. But, I could build one hell of a Z with that $!
  6. I lived in New Orleans for several years, I know it well. Imagine just for a moment if Katrina took place in Washington D.C. or New York. Those cities would have been cleaned up/repaired/rebuilt a long time ago. Very sad indeed.
  7. How about getting a junkyard starter with the right nose on it, then combine parts from the starters. Alot less risky then drilling/tapping the block.
  8. That is neat. You put Mcgyver to shame with that one.
  9. I am smoking a prime rib roast and smoking chicken wings. The wife and my mom are doing the sides, dirty rice dressing, potatoe salad, assorted veggies, relish tray, rediculous amounts of baked goods, stuffing, shrimp/okra gumbo, jalapeno poppers, shrimp cocktail, and lots of stuff I am forgetting. I think we could feed the neighborhood! BURP!!
  10. some guys have all the luck......... Looks like a really nice Z! Good luck.
  11. A go kart project with a turbo used as the engine. Very interesting. http://www.nickhaddock.co.uk/jetkart.htm
  12. I have a 96' Mustang in pretty good shape just sitting not being used. I wish someone would want to trade for a decent Z, hint, hint.
  13. Go for it! It would be very interesting to see the results. Good luck.
  14. I'm in Arvada Co. This blizzard reminds me of the one back in '82. Anyone remember? I have a 96' Mustang outside, it's pretty much buried, I'm glad I remembered where I parked it. To all those in the area, stay warm and stay safe.
  15. This SBF packs a punch, check it out........ http://theengineshop.com/prods_pages/102075.htm
  16. I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your motor. Look at it this way, it gives you a reason to build a better motor. Good luck!
  17. On ebay: what appears to be an all original '69 Camaro Gm Winters cross-ram intake system. Has all linkage, carbs, cam, etc. Check it out if this sort of thing interests you. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-Camaro-Winters-Cross-Ram-Set-up_W0QQitemZ230066508822QQihZ013QQcategoryZ6161QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  18. Any S30 Z car related screen savers for the typical home computer? Yes, I did use the search button. I have plenty of wallpaper pics for the p.c., but no screen savers. Please help me as I have got the "z hyposwapthermia" sickness!
