  1. this may be old news to some, but i just looked at his page again to see the updates... and OMG. i'm stunned. i personally believe darius has the most beautfiul hybrid Z out there. his car is simply a work of art.... not one thing about this car is imperfect. check it out for yourself. this rear diffuser is simply gorgeous. everything i've imagined i wanted to do to my car he has done! i wish i had the resources to do this (either money or skill lol).

    240 from 280

holy crap that is beautiful. the color is a good match for that car! anyway, as far as the 280's with the big bumper. well, you can always take it off lol. thats what i did and its improved the looks of it ten fold in my opinion..

    240 from 280

dont forget the front fenders are slightly shorter on the 240.. i had a replacement fender from a donor 240 and there was a much larger gap between the door and the fender. kinda sucked.
  4. not sure in the older cars, but newer cars have a rubber bump stop (kinda like a rubber hat that sits between the spring and shock) that requires cutting. if yours has that, you may need to trim a bit of it off.
  5. there was a "DIY" on another forum.. basically if the part is already chrome you take a can of "transparent black" or "smoke" spray paint (available at hobby lobby or similar store) and spray it on. of course, it being aerosol, you have to be careful not to overspray certain areas and watch for bubbles and drips. it came out pretty good for the pics i saw.
  6. can't say anything that hasn't been said already! great work man!
  7. those are the flares that this thread is talking about! lol they are called the 280YZ kit from reaction research.
  8. there is a guy who runs 16x12's with no issues at all. his name is bill coffey or something. beautiful car btw. run a search, i believe its been discussed many times, some threads have some pics of his car. oh, the white one on the rr website has custom 16x12 ccw's as well.. so you shouldnt have a problem with those.
  9. i gotta agree.. those cages are a must. i've seen some WRC races on the sides of a mountain. those guys are hauling *** on loose gravel practically inches away from the edge of the cliff and of course, no fence to hold them back. better safe than sorry! i actually had a cool video clip of some rally crashes. one scene was of a guy flying off the mountain and tumbling down (he survived) anyway. the point was how much tedious and intricate welding was involved to put this car together. a lot of guys want to do some chassis stiffening and if you have access to a welder and rotisserie, the seam welding definately does the trick. this gives an idea of how to go about doing it =)
  10. impressive cage work and chassis reinforcement... thought you guys might enjoy it. http://www.houston-imports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=229298
  11. a lot of those ebay ones still maintain the horn function such as this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STEERING-WHEEL-QUICK-RELEASE-HUB-CF-HONDA-DEL-SOL-CIVIC_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33704QQitemZ7995220829QQrdZ1 anyone know how a ball bearing system compares to a more expensive splined system?
  12. hows about the shipping on these? i may be in the market for a hood and rear tail light shroud in carbon but shipping to houston is killer since most of you guys are in cali..
  13. would these be ok? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNIVERSAL-F1-RACING-CARBON-FIBER-MIRRORS-MIRROR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33649QQitemZ7992656048QQrdZ1 they are pretty cheap.. or should i just get the ones from http://www.racemirrors.com? they are $126 + shipping.
  14. what everyone won't let me forget is that its better to build up a 240z since its lighter right off the bat. get an adjustable suspension (coilovers) so you can change your spring rates to the type of racing you are doing.. don't settle for regular spring/shock combo's.. you can also get adjustable control arms that will allow you to adjust toe and camber. talk to JohnC (beta motorsports) and the Modern Motorsports guy.. tons of great info and great parts for your car.
  15. looks awesome... and looks like you are on a kamikaze mission!
  16. that subie is beautiful. seems a lot of people are doing gunmetal... doh! mine is honda "athletic gray" with various pearl added to the mix.. in the sun its absolutely stunning, but otherwise it just looks plain. looks very similar to the new Lexus RX330 gunmetal color (flint mica) anyway, go with what best suits your personality. but if i had to choose a color for the early Z, i'd say go with a nice dark metallic color such as green, blue, maroon, gray, or any shade of silver as long as it has plenty of metallic in it. good luck!
  17. omg... what a frickin steal!
  18. or he could have run a search... *eep* i just had to say it...
  19. wow.. you did a DAMN good job! beautiful car man, congrats
  20. from what i hear, a lot of european caterham kit cars use that motor.. watch that show "a racing car is born" from euro discovery channel and they document a buildup of a westfield caterham type replica with that motor.. not bad. http://www.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/racecar.htm correction, they use Ford Zetec and Duratec motors oops
  21. anyone heard of rustbullet? seems to be another alternative to por15. i wonder whats the best in terms of cost and effectiveness b/w all the brands already noted.
  22. not sure how many aussie members are on the board, but there is a guy here, actually two guys selling the YZ. iskone has the rears only and someone else has both front and rear.. try the buy and sell and ask them what the shipping would be. the savings just from buying through them rather than RR might make up for the difference.
  23. thanks guys, i'll let him know that it is possible to remove the weatherstripping around the windows. i want him to pull all the old rubber off anyway to get a cleaner paint job. hopefully i won't unearth anymore more dreaded rust.. oh, and yup thats a '69 camaro i believe... beautiful car. when he got it, the entire backend had been pushed in/up. they are doing a complete restoration of that as well. he does lots of american classics so i feel my car is in good hands =)
  24. got anymore pics of the car? i'm interested in seeing the wide stance of the rear!
  25. the body looks sweet =) but i gotta agree with the masses on the paint issue... send me a PMl, if you are located in houston i got a paint hookup for you..
