  2. wowzers http://www.spikedhumor.com/articles/27602/Gilles_Villeneuve_And_Arnoux_Duel.html
  3. i'm actually stunned someone would pay that much for such a simply designed bar. i've seen beautifully made titanium strut tower bars for about that much. i've got a similar bar i got on ebay but designed for another car that is adjustable that was $50 shipped... you might look into that as an option and just modify the mounting plates.
  4. since the lip of the front spoiler extends from the bumper wouldn't the majority of outside air push down on the lip area thus producing the downforce? i guess how much air goes over and under depends on how low it is to the ground,
  5. ok, i removed all the bolts to the fender from the engine bay from the headlight bucket to the access panel. there was also one holding it in near the door hinge. i gave it a tug and it is still solid. it seems to be stitch welded at the bottom, is that normal or did the previous owner do that? besides that, are there other bolts needed to remove this fender?
  6. can't lie i have the same problem too
  7. would the door flex too much during opening and closing if i took them out? i see the 3 bolts holding the inner side in, how about outer edge? is it bolted in or welded in?
  8. well, assuming i have the funds, the car will primarily be sorted for the track, but i hope to take it out on the street every now and then as well. here are some updates: the tools i used the sheetmetal i cut the final product the leftovers (its for sale if anyone is interested) now the door shuts nice and firm with a solid thunk!
  9. holy crap.. i forgot about the mr2. that car is funnnn to drive man.
  10. here is mine http://www.xanga.com/TEXASDOUBLE_Ds
  11. I'm gutting the doors and I'd like to cut along this red line and plan on using lexan windows. Would the door remain structurally sound? I believe there is a door bar in it, if I were to remove that as well, would it still be rigid enough then? I just dont want the door to flex and wobble enough to come loose from the door latch. also, assuming all is well to go ahead and cut, would you guys recommend using a Sawzall or an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel? thanks in advance! hope to tackle this by the weekend.
  12. perhaps a FC3S mazda rx-7
  13. hey brad, how easy is it to remove the weatherstripping and windshield? should i take it to a pro? i just want to remove the old weatherstripping and replace with new.
  14. hahaha i like option c the best! but since i would like to avoid going to jail for insurance fraud i might go the Penske truck route =) thanks for the tips! time to pull out the trucker hat
  15. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7236886042&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 surprised no one else got it.. so i emailed him and bought it size 38... i'm hoping thats like a 38 in a suit or something!
  16. i was thinking that too, but i have to figure in hotels, food and gas for 3 people. the gas is whats going to kill me, i had to rent a medium Uhaul once and I had to fill it up every hour it seemed... time is also a factor (not for me, but the other 2 people helping me)
  17. best = cheapest Hello, I'm looking to move a few things from Houston to D.C. but everything seems to cost an arm and a leg. would anyone happen to know of cheaper alternatives? i looked into everything from renting a P.O.D. at Home Depot, freight moving companies and renting my own UHaul. I heard a boxcar on a train can be rented as well. Any other ideas?
  18. sweet! how does it compare? was it hard taking the motor out? any tips on doing so? i'm going to attempt a motor swap soon too...
  19. Its just that i have never used flux core before. Is it similar to MIG in that it feeds through the gun without shielding gas? Or does it use an electrode (like with an arc stick welder). Does it produce a nice bead? I guess, this should probably go to the Welding forum now huh lol
  20. I am hoping to find a place in the Houston area of course. Unfortunately Home Depot and Aztec rental only do flux cored and stick welding machines. Is there anyone else I should consider? There are a lot of projects I need to complete and the lack of a welding machine is seriously slowing me down. Perhaps someone in the Houston area can loan me one...
