  3. ditto. i personally am building a budget buid because i don't make much money and am trying to get a house. if i had money TRUST me, i would donate.
  4. ^that's true, OTM; but couldn't these mods be done to an L28 with more drastic results? my reasoning is that it's cheaper to build an L28 than mod an L24 to get good grunt. not to mention the torque from that extra .4L!
  5. there's nothin wrong with admin trying to pay for the site a wee bit
  6. i agree.... and about my firebird comment, it would help if i READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE! lol
  7. ^ya, what dave said about that TB42 (!)
  8. the front looks more like knight rider (firebird) to me
  9. honestly, it will cost you WAY more to get decent HP out of a 2.4L than a 2.8L. to raise compression in a 2.4, you'll be looking at custom pistons. you'd have to have block out anyway, so why go through the $$ and hassle if you can pick up an L28. L28s are simple swaps; just pull your old engine and replace it onto the L28. if you get an F54 block with flat pistons (not all of them have them) and then throw an earlier head (E88 from your 240, or E31, N42) you can easily and cheaply get 10.5:1 compression ratio. if you get the N42 you already have bigger valves, so no headwork needed. invest in a cam kit for around ~600, get a header and exhause and you're shining.
  10. i would say "search", but you'll get tons of different answers from tons of different threads, so i will say around 240 in an L28 without turbo or bore/stroking it. if you decide to go up to 3.1L, you can get more....
  11. would you save this car for me until i come up there in august?!? although that would be awesome, i doubt you would hold onto it that long. oh well, the quest for a free solid shell continues....
  12. that's what i thought too. i guess it wasn't until the last post on the 1st page that we switched(?)
  13. with a 350 in there, i would go with a vented 300ZX rotor/vented 4x4 caliper setup with a 15/16" master cylinder. it's good if you don't want to shell out for the arizona z car/wilwood conversion, and it will still provide great stopping power. i think you'd be able to find a rotor that's 5 lug, too. i'm still in process of doing my 4x4 conversion, and i don't know EVERYTHING about the different setups that are out there, but i think that the vented front conversion should be sufficient for ya...
  14. ditto... aaaaand does anyone have a mig they're willing to sell
  15. i can't watch youtube on my work compy. is that the e36 dominating the track?
  16. what he's getting at is that anal places like CA can cite you for just about ANY modification you do to the engine and related accessories.... whether or not it allows more air in...
  17. agreed. rust is a big nasty. unless you have metal working skills, rust is one of the few things that need to be taken care of by a professional (unless you're willing to learn) my $.02
  18. i've always used WD40 when porting heads. do you think soap/wax would work better?
