  1. Does that magnet kit include the poppers? Doesn't look like it...get a popper set from Summit or something and get the reed switches from an alarm shop or ebay. Should be real easy to do. I'd still put in a cable release (hidden) in case you lose all power. What's that Australian car site with all the articles, some that are pay-to-read? They had a free article on how to wire up a starter or ignition kill using a reed switch. That site should give you all the info you need. PS. Make sure if you take your car to a track, that lack of door handles aren't illegal. I guess you can roll your window down and use a net.
  2. Just wire up the contacts in the mirror to activate the door popper solenoid, all you would need to do is complete the circuit, which is what happens when you turn the mirror, etc. Owen
  3. Good point. So just think of it as building up an ejacul8tion ! Owen
  4. I couldn't live with 1.3 sec of turbo lag...I drive a Z32TT every day to work and there's nowhere near that much lag. You didn't specify what turbos, or I missed it, but you CAN go smaller for drivability or even use hybrids that spool up fast and make high boost. Or how about a mis-firing system to keep the turbo spooling? A couple of VATN (variable area turbine nozzle) units would probably be pretty fun on a 3 liter. I can agree and disagree to many posts in this thread at the same time. Sure instant power off the line is cool, but I don't want it all the time. I like that, "ohhh, sh!t....here comes the boost" feeling. But yeah, turbos are heavy and expensive and complex. It all depends on where and how you intend to drive it. PS, there's instant power for sale in my signature. Owen
  5. That's what I use, it's not U shaped. Check around you for some local VW shops. Owen
  6. I'm just following along here, no plans to do this myself. But had a quick question, For those running the R230 in drag race conditions, does the viscous LSD perform better than the mechanical LSD of the R200s? We all know it's stronger, but I can't find a reason why the VLSD would give better launches than the mechanical one. And for the hardcore drag racers, why stick to the IRS instead of Ford 9"? Won't the rules require you to change one day? Owen
  7. Forget calling him at 3AM, set you computer to dial it for you. I don't have dial up anymore but I remember in older Windows, you could set it up to dial at specific times and to retry a number of times. A fax machine could probably do the same. Owen
  8. They look the same.... And it seems kinda expensive to me...a pair of 300ZX twin turbo calipers and rotors will run you about $350 US dollars, see them on ebay all the time. Plus, you have to make them fit on your Z, I'm assuming it's a 240Z-280Z, so no bolt on. Zhadman, can you measure your brakes vs the link I posted? And are you using those on a 1st gen Z? Owen
  9. No way, what is this, "Enemy of the State"? The professor may as well have said that there's a satellite image tracking system taking pictures of the top of his head at this very moment! "the people in Redmond Washington were very interested to know why it was that the same version of Windows was being signalled to them from two different computers." ...I haven't received any calls yet...! Owen
  10. Can someone post this or email me? I understand it's large but there's plenty of "file splitting" programs out there for free. Owen
  11. I won't see you guys til sunday, so its someone else's b-day this time! God, I hope those pictures disappeared with a lot of other stuff with all the site upgrades we've been having... Owen
  12. Someone post should post that on a Vette forum! Owen
  13. Ari, Can you let me know about the GTS-T brake's specs? Bolt spacing, pistons, etc? Thanks, Owen
  14. Sorry, it's getting harder for me at work but reading thru this, if there's no play I'm not worried. Have fun at the track and post your results/impressions too! Owen
  15. Here goes again, http://www.princeton.edu/~asad/zbrakes/
  16. You guys have probably seen this. Maybe you can compare your calipers to the Z32 ones shown here. From what I know, the GTR ones are the same (but iron only?). The GTS-T ones might have the same bolt/mounting pitch but that's about all I can guess at. Let us know if you discover something! Owen
  17. Good job Austin! Some questions, What size holes are in the clevis/u-bracket? I'm guessing 5/8". And a 5/8" bolt and washer at the mounting point? I could've sworn that the hole was bigger than that? At the control arm side, if/when the LCA gets pushed backwards, won't it pivot at your clevis and rip the u-bracket out of it's mount? Of course you'd have to hit something pretty hard, but I've bent a stock TC rod almost 90deg on an impact before, but nothing flew off. Owen
  18. My wife's Civic just got sandwiched in between 2 Ford F250s a couple of weeks ago...her car was total, no damage to the trucks. All we get is market value of the car, approx $5 grand. We met with a lawyer to see how much we could sue the rear truck's insurance company for, and because it was a small no-name insurance company, we were told that it would be difficult. If the driver only had collision coverage for $15,000 that is the max we could hope to get, but more realistically only $4,000. So what am I paying full coverage for?!?! If my insurance has to pay someone else because of my fault, I should have the lowest coverage possible to get lower rates. On the other hand, any kind of coverage that I will get payment for (other driver is uninsured, etc) should be fully covered. I'm currently in the process of reviewing my policies and in the end, switching to another company. Owen
  19. Good info on the refree station thing which I never did! Now, where is all that info written? Codes, etc. word of mouth is fine, but I want hard evidence just in case. Owen
  20. I've heard that the 90s 300ZX TT pump is the highest flowing OEM one out there, but $300 or more! Good for 700hp is what they say. The alternative would be a Walbro GS3441? Less than $100, I think they're in-tank only. Otherwise there's plenty of aftermarket stuff out there. Owen
  21. Thanks guys! I re-searched at McMaster Carr and found some that might suit my need. Not too expensive either. Owen
  22. I guess they're just called "push-ins" NEWLOC® ACETAL FITTINGS http://www.newageindustries.com/nwlocamn.asp Push-In fittings http://www.hosexpress.com/pushin/pushin2.htm
  23. Does anyone know what these connectors are called, the ones on the side for the sight tube? They are some kinda push on compression fittings, I looked all over McMasterCarr and the rest of the internet but cannot find what they are called and where to get them. I don't want to use barbed fittings. I'm looking for oil/coolant safe ones. Owen
