  1. All I hear is the BOV after the shifts or when he lifts off the gas. Your car sounded like that before the BOV? Interesting... Owen
  2. The 240SX rear brake setup Ross sells uses the handbrake, I have it and like it. Owen
  3. Not me! I perfer the buzzing sound over the dukes of hazzards. Yeah, I know my engines an SBC V8... Which is why I spent so much time and effort trying to quite the thing down! Owen
  4. Download a demo of any of the high end programs I use PS7, and search the net for a serial number. I guess that's illegal, I wouldn't know anything about it! Owen
  5. The one mentioned in 2 Cars Garage might be grundy.com, I think they advertised no limitations like the others, except for not being able to commute in it. I want to commute in my car a couple of times a month in dry weather, they'd never know right? Owen
  6. Exactly, plus add someone who does a DIY boost control and cranks it up or bolts on a new turbo and then blows it all up. But with the newer generation apex seals that problem is lessened isn't it? The latest thing I've seen is a sort of spring (a flat piece of metal bent into a U shape) which sits under the apex seal and keeps it pressed against the walls. Owen
  7. And wasn't the amount for vehicle retirement $1000 a couple of years ago? Owen
  8. Rotaries can be finicky, yes, but how long it lasts is all in the tuning and build up...as well as how it's driven too! I've seen plenty of rotaries with more than 100K miles on them, daily drivers mind you, not race cars. So it's all how you treat it, you could blow up an SBC in a couple of months if you wanted to. NZeder, For the EFI, Haltech is based in Australia aren't they? And you've probably heard of the Hitman who tunes rotaries. I say do it! Owen
  9. You've probably already seen this site, http://www.4rotor.com/ I knew some people who raced FDs and they chose NOT to add another rotor or two due to the weight, don't know how this will fit in the Z. Be sure to take video clips and sound, that should sound awesome! Owen
  10. I did this about 4 years ago on my CRX, failed at a test only station and received the bucks for a new catalytic and muffler. Pretty cool. Even got pulled over for an expired sticker, showed my application form to the cop and he let me go. Owen
  11. I've been watching drifting in Option videos even before it became a "sport" here in the US and I know they go fast, but do they ever go fast enough to benefit from all the ground effects, canards, etc? It's a strange relationship to me...downforce and drifting...In any case, I think the ground clearance of a GT car and a stiff suspension is what you'd want. As for the shape of the front air dam, I've asked about this before and I think John Coffee replied that his design was good (at least on paper) Anyone know what sort of shape is beneficial for side skirts? I've seen plain boxy ones as well as ones on the Porsches that have a kind of twist in them, Just looks??? Owen
  12. Well, we don't know WHAT they're serious about (if anything). Back in the day, the idea was to stand out, looks like these guys are winners. Owen
  13. That front air dam looks a lot less than 4 inches! There was a thread on air dams and chin splitters too, don't remember if it was in this thread or not... I think what we all need to do is step back and wonder, do we really need a diffuser, etc. on a street car? I'd probably make on for my own street car, but it would never get any use, pity... Owen
  14. WRX headlights or VW bug headlights would be cool. Maybe can get a whole stock HID setup? I've always preferred the projector-styles myself even though the light output is less. One of my future projects! Owen
  15. It's emabarassing to think there are still people like this around. The new fad in Japan is copying the ricer cars over here...how's that for a step backwards... Check this thread out too. http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=33925&highlight=yankee Don't tell me ya don't like the flares on this one tho! 50grand in modifications to a minivan... Owen
  16. Welcome Seijirou, Are you Japanese? Any way, there are many deciding factors on the engine, cost, weight, power, etc. but in the end it's whatever your personal preference is. I chose the american v8 because of parts availability, pep boys, mail order, etc. Also, power is easy to make vs. making 500hp in a supra engine, you need new turbos, more fuel, more computers to control it, etc. etc. and after all that, the engine is more like a race engine, rather than being streetable. Check out some of the LS1 engine owners here, making much power with just an intake and cam swap! I'm sure an SR20DET would fit in the Z32, but the car is heavy isn't it? Owen
  17. That thing is cool, great use of the kitchen table too! What's this liquid aluminum stuff? Owen
  18. Check out this external backup battery/charger I made. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5722229432&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT Owen
  19. sell it to me??? How much do you want for it?
  20. Does anyone have one of these that they don't need? It's for the 5" tach or speedo. Owen
  21. Thanks Ben, Great weight distribution too! Are those turbos stock or did you get them hybridized somewhere? I'd be interested in hearing about the Mustang housings too. For my glass hood, I had to take out the springs too. if your stock hinges are there, there should be an arm where the springs originally were hooked up to. When I open the hood, I swing the arm up and stick a big bolt in there. When the hood moves back to the closed position, it hits the bolt and keeps the hood open. Just make sure you don't hit the paint on the headlite bucket. Owen
  22. It's almost easy, I say almost cuz you want to smooth out the vents. Just make a straight glass copy of it, sand away or glass in the vent holes (which will remain from the original) and you're done! I would fill in the wiper holes with bondo, sand down. And then grind down the backside of the vents, fill with bondo, sand down. Then lay the glass over it all. Only issue I can think of is the mounting tabs that fit in the holes under the windshield, not a big issue really. Owen
  23. I hate POR-15, one of the first products I bought when starting my project and it sucked...if you apply it to flimsy metal, it peels off! One thing you can try to remove the matte is heat. I've used heat guns on the backside of metal-fiberglass bonds to remove stuff, works pretty well. Otherwise just flex the metal little by little and it might delam that way. You're already using fiberglass, why not just make an entire fiberglass cowl? Here's what I did for my hood, http://www.v8zcar.com/s30z/aero-hood-pt1.htm Owen
