  1. You must be at work' date=' then?[/quote'] Actually overslept and walked in at 10! Owen
  2. I wanted to do the same thing, someone here made a post a couple of months ago and I sent a PM but got no reply. He used Radio Shack stuff, but what I wanted to know was how accurate and how real-time were the sensors? They sell crap at parts stores with remote temp. leads and a cool blue backlit display for like $10.99, but those are crap. I guess I'll have to go with plan 2, attach a smoke flare to the back of a car, drive my Z behind it, and have a third car filming from different angles. Owen
  3. Dude, that thing is freaky!!! Is it a horse??? I'm saving it to my harddrive! JGTC should be cool, I'm supposed to be helping out at a vendor booth at the event - Endless USA I think the rule to compete is, the cars have to be production cars. There was an article in a recent mag, Road and Track maybe? on the 350Z race car. It's called the Type E I believe. Owen
  4. I'm getting confused by what you mean by powerline and positive jumper. Do you mean you have the large positive terminal on the starter connected to the S (input voltage from the IGN key)? If so, this should be correct. Have tried it withoutt the negative cable completely? It sounds like you're having the short circuit problem I recently had? Also, a friend told me that if you tried to spin a starter too many times with a low battery, something seizes up inside the solenoid. I had an Optima red top which always showed 12V after a charge and even passed the tests at a local shop. But it always had trouble starting the engine! I let it discharge too many times which is bad for the red top but the yellow top can handle. I don't have anymore problems with it. Owen
  5. I'd like to add, I was having problems also and read on a forum that extra ground cables helped some people. Well, when my car was running fine, I decided to do this one day and it wouldn't start! I removed the additional ground cable and everything is ok. From my experience, the solenoid is grounded to the starter and the entire thing is grounded to the engine block. Owen
  6. Good to know that they bend. I hate braking and accelerating at the same time! Anyone ever shorten these things? They are way too close to the floor... Owen
  7. I've been working on mine on a 99:1 ratio it seems, gotta stop wrenching and get out there and abuse it! Owen
  8. Thanks Terry, I checked the cdrom version of the factory service manual and there is a retainer that sits under the lock nut in the steering housing. But I can't tell if its a one piece spacer or more. I'm going to play with the adjusting screw a little and see if that gets me anywhere. Maybe the retaining spring is bad, but I don't want to pull off the whole rack to service it. Owen
  9. When I drive and make a tight turn, the steering wheel doesn't return to where it was before the turn. If I take a tight right, the wheel ends up pointing right, and oppsosite for left turns. I've tightened the rack down and even put nuts on the opposite ends of the bolts to keep them from coming lose. No dice. I've also removed and remounted the splined hub on the steering column with no progress. This leads me to believe that the slop is still all in the rack, how do I adjust this, at the big nut on the steering rack? Thanks, Owen
  10. I definitely cannot swing it
  11. I need to enclose my compressor or make an outside one for it too... Owen
  12. Thanks guys, I've seen that wall storage stuff before, where you can hang just about anything. And I'd love to have those roll around cabinets, Lista makes some good stuff. I'll add one for piping, http://www.garage-pack.com/ Looks pretty cool. I was thinking last nite, it would be cool to have a triangluar raised section of floor right underneat the middle of the car. Cuz you know, whenever you drop something while working in the engine bay, that it'll drop RIGHT OUT OF REACH! Owen
  13. I know this was posted before, but I can't find it.... I was looking for info on making a dream garage, for my purposes, 20 ft x 20ft. I was trying to find what sort of ideas people have for cabinets, storage, compressed air, epoxy coated floor, etc. My garage is cluttered enough and when I eventually move, I want to do things the right way. That means not shuffling things around just to get back at the tools stored way behind everything else, etc. My concerns are: lighting ventilation storage sound deadening dust etc Also, this garage will be shared with my wife's car so I can't take over all of it... Anyone have any good links to products or actual photos? Owen
  14. ...and hang that sucka who left the parking brake down!!!! wigenOut-S30 That really sux, I hope you get reimbursed in full! Owen
  15. Hey Glenn, It took A LOT of sanding and filling for the underside. I was about to cry! Right before the latches went on, it was about 16 lbs, it's still a lot lighter so I am super satisfied. Couldn't have done it without your guys help! DCarrow , Thanks for the compliments. I think we have the same idea, I did not put the vents farther for some reason...don't remember what it was...but they are still close. If your hand is small enough you could probably reach in and take my rad cap. I didn't make molds for the vents, they are the one off items I orginally made for the steel hood. BTW, progress of the hood starts at Part 1 and ends at Part 3 http://www.v8zcar.com/s30z/aero-hood-pt1.htm Owen
  16. Vents were made from foam and the glass was laid over them. The foam was later removed although could have been left in. Owen
  17. Thanks, Yup, from scracth. The info on the process all came from Glenn, aka dot. Owen PS looking at your sig, those are pretty impressive numbers! Owen
  18. Is it normal to be hotter on the right? I have that same problem... While my batt is in the back, I would suggest some battery wrap from summit racing. Maybe a box? Or, just a piece aluminum. Owen
  19. I uploaded some pix of my hood. http://www.v8zcar.com/s30z/aero-hood-pt3.htm Thanks again to Terry and Glenn for their advice! Some pix of the show are here, http://www.v8zcar.com/s30z/zccapix.htm Owen
  20. Any pix of the rest of the car? I like how the spoiler is molded in! Owen
  21. Now that you mention it, what happened to the "Member Number" info that was under our names? I think I was number 7. Now it's just a date but I like the numbers better. Owen
