  1. I totally removed the wiper system hoping to find something better, but no luck... Owen
  2. Mark, The fit was really good, almost too tight. Mine were made around June or July 2001. I guess they got their act together? Owen
  3. Hmmm, I paid $230 for brand new from Moser...might want to call and check. Otherwise, that place Tim mentioned sounds good. Owen
  4. Pretty sweet, what about the strength? I've heard even stainless manifolds crack under too much heat and boost. Owen
  5. Jacobs makes ceramic boots or boot protectors, http://www.jacobselectronics.com/products/sparkplugs/ultraceramic.htm http://www.jacobselectronics.com/products/sparkplugs/profitceramic.htm I burned an MSD wire too, did an amergency replacement with another wire...now I have 7 red wires and one blue! Do you guys use pre-made kits for a V8? And do you use the angled or straight boots? Thanks, Owen
  6. Hey Davy! How ya doin??? Got any pix of those headers? Owen
  7. The best way to plan is to read up on the technology itself, see what kinda aftermarket conversion parts are available (or get a new engine), etc. I went with EFI with the idea (dream) of turbo in mind for the future. Got a TIPS MiniRam2, FAST/SPEEDPRO EFI computer, etc. There were other TBI and TPI manifolds out there but I chose the MiniRam which was copied by GM for the LT1. It had the most impressive numbers as well as being able to fit under the stock hood. It all depends on how much boost you plan to run and how the car is to be driven. I got a Haltech E6K for sale if anyone wants it. Owen
  8. Ha Ha Tim! I just spent my lunch hour and more working on a friend's Civic front rotor and pad replacement. Everything went smoothly except for getting the pads back in. Stupid floating single piston weak azz design!!! My CRX took 35 minutes total! Good thing my boss ain't here today, these hour and a half lunches make me stand out! Owen
  9. My friend's car has leaked brake fluid all over the frame rail and body underside, paint is stripping off. What's the best way to completely clean all the fluid off in order to dry the metal and repaint it? Will something like acetone eat away the fluid for me? Thanks. Owen
  10. Heh heh, a couple of years ago someone sent me this and when I tried it nothing happened. At the time I was still using an older PC with the kind of CDROM drive that you just insert the disc (no ejecting tray). I was like, what the hell is that whirring noise?!? Owen

    Racing Seats

Cool, we should meet up sometime, I'm home on the weekends. Owen
  12. It's fake a carbon fiber sticker sheet It sucks tho cuz it doesn't face the driver like a Supra dash does, maybe I'll fab something up one day. Owen

Don't forget about the pain of leaning over to roll down the window! That's why I installed power windows Mike, Trabuco Canyon sounds familiar, South Orange County? I'm in Huntington Beach. Owen
  14. Hey Ivan, I got your message. I didn't use the E6K on an L28 so there's not much info I can give you... Tell me what part of the diagram you are referring to in the Haltech manual, I think the clusters were divided up into J1, J2, etc. Owen

    really nice header

Prices are for L and R side. The top S30 mirror is expensive compared to the 510 mirror! I wonder how different they are...When I was in Japan, I paid about JPY 12,000 for my set of S30Z mirrors. This place is a rip. Owen
  16. Oh, I guess I've been misunderstanding all along? If you want 5 lug on an early car, use the Z31 front hub. For rears, the easiest/cheapest way is to re-drill the stubs to the 5-lug pattern. When I bought my rear disc setup from Ross, I asked him to include some pre-drilled stub axles. I simply didn't have the time to be going to machine shops etc to get work done. Owen
  17. This is how mine is now, it sucks but it works. Owen

    Racing Seats

Drawbacks are...getting in and out. My seats are Corbeaus, so thin that I swear I could feel the spring stabbing me in the back. Also if you have a harness and don't feel like wearing it, you have to drape them over the sides of the seats or put them under your back, also not comfortable. Not being able to recline sucks too, but then I don't have any room with my cage anyway to recline. Blind spot checking or looking out the rear over your shoulder when you're strapped in sucks also... Owen
  19. I went thru this too, 3 or 4 times in one day. Tim240z finally advised me to seal the end gap from the outside which I did and haven't had problems. I just cleaned as much oil from the manifold - block gap, blew it out with compressed air, wiped it down with acetone, etc to get it as dry as possible. I then took a glob of silicone on my finger and forced it into the gaps. Owen
  20. I highly doubt anything will work easily. Everything is different lengths, different splines, etc. Too much custom work for what it's worth, IMO. Owen
  21. Yes it can be done to a Silvia with a few mods, namely the the big pin from a 5-lug S14 must be installed into the arm of an S13 (the S14 arm is longer than the S13). This enables the use of the 5-lug spindle and maybe strut on an S13. The biggest rotor and caliper I've seen on an S13 are a JZ Supra 330mm rotor and Lexus SC430 monoblock aluminum 4 piston caliper. Bracket was custom and caliper was modified. For a 240Z, the hub is way different from even an S13. I think Mike SCCA tried Z32 calipers and the mounting ears were a different size and or the mounting ears had to be ground down. The conclusion was that it was not worth the effort, do a search on this. If all you want is 5-lug on an early Z, use the Z31 hub and some lightweight Wildwood or Outlaw calipers. You also need a spacer (different for 4 and 5 lug) Z31 rotors. I switched from Z31 4 lug to Z31 5 lug and kept the Toyota calipers. That reminds me, I need to sell those 4 lug spacers and rotors... 22. I put power locks in my 73 240Z. They actuate the vertical bar if I remember correctly. I also installed power windows. Both kits were got from Summit Racing and the controls are mounted in the ash tray. Any good recommendations on an alarm? I got line on a DEI 6500 for $200. I want to add glass breakage sensor, tilt, air pressure sensor etc. Or are these useless??? Owen
  23. I don't know about the prop valve. I coulda sworn my Wilwood accepted the 3/8? SAEs no problem. Tim240Z used some kinda adapter on his prop valve. I used the adapters for the SAE lines to the metric brake lines on the front Toyota calipers. Owen
  24. I'm pretty sure Grant and Mono have different bolt circles. Momo is the same as Sparco. Owen
  25. I was thinking of using the cruise control switch thing as a line lock activation or something! Either that or the horn, which I lost use of a long time ago. Owen
