    Venting for me!

How about being relocated to different countries for your job? Being sent overseas for only a couple of years, wondering what to take and wondering what not to buy cuz it won't work back home. That sucks! Owen

    S30???

The S31Z is the 1976 280Z I think, or maybe it includes the 260 too. I THINK the S31Z is started when they moved the reverse lights. Owen
  3. How much the shafts are shortened depends on how thick your spacers are. My measurements are here, I can install them without unbolting the control arms. Try to offset the diff towards the pass. side, at least in mine, the output flange of the diff was hitting the tubular part of the control arm (inner). http://www.v8zcar.com/s30z/r230-2.htm Owen
  4. I'm running the R230 with a 3.54 and 17" wheels. Haven't had the car running long enough to tell you how good or bad it is tho... Owen
  5. I work at Honda and my Z has a 5-inch exhaust tip (both are true). I do buying of automotive parts in raw form and sell them to the factories all over the world where they get put into other assemblies. It's a desk job... Owen
  6. There shouldn't be any problem with the boxes separate, in fact it's best that they are. As for filler necks, that's been discussed over and over here, do a search and take a look at Terry's setup. Owen
  7. The ECU doesn't depend on fuel pressure directly. A lot of the tuning is based on testing at the factory and what pressure they found to be the best. I think I read 43 psi was best but lower than factory spec? The values programmed into your ECU at the factory are based on this factory spec, say 45psi, and then the air per manifold pressure (MAP) or air flow (MAF) values are plugged in. So I guess maybe the answer IS yes, the ECU expects a certain pressure - check the specs. Owen
  8. I hate mudguards but I also hate getting water and crap splashed onto my fenders, etc. Anyone using a mudguard that isn't huge and ugly? Owen
  9. OK, aside from the hood, I'm guessing it's the vent mounted on the wall next to your feet (towards the outside of your car). Either that or it's your zipper Owen
  10. The G35 coupe looks WAY better than the Z33! Owen
  11. Yeah, a little water spray or CO2 on an FMIC makes a great difference I hear. My friend has one on his turbo MR2, stock mounted location, and it cools the intake charge just great. Owen
  12. Use a wooden pallet! Mine came in a big cardboard box and the bellhousing had a piece chipped off (I JB welded it back on). There were also pieces missing from holes in the box. Owen

    Nice or Rice?

Sorry, Me no like 'em either, they look too similar to Kaneko's Z (red 240ZT in Turbo Mag). But how do they look on the ZX, any pix? Owen
  14. Sweet! I've seen a prototype turbo on a 350Z making like 364hp with hardly any mods, but a twin! That would be sweet! Some of the touring/racing GTRs in Japan have actually dumped the RBDETT in favor of the VQTT. Get some pix next time! Owen
  15. Check out the Dec. 2002 issue, the article on the making of the cars used in the new James Bond film. The Aston Martins and Jags have Ford V8+AWD units swapped into them! Owen
  16. I love those choptop pix, the white car I've seen here before, it looks all bulged out though. Too much reliance on the Spherize filter perhaps?
  17. Check the fork assembly on the tranny. To get the tranny apart you have to remove the slave and pull the fork off the clutch assy. Maybe something in there is jammed? Owen
  18. Can anyone give me a mfgr and part no. for the threaded eye-bolt that fits the stock belt mounts? I mean, for mounting the lap belts, there's a threaded hole on both sides of each seat. I'm ashamed to say I have no time to look for one of these! Thanks, Owen
  19. Don't pry the glass with a screwdriver, otherwise you'll get glass in your face! If you don't want to keep the weatherstrip, I just used a sharp blade and cut thru it all the way around in between the glass and body. Then have someone help you lift the glass out. Owen
  20. Sweet, are those rear fenders flared? Owen
  21. Yeah...now I let them know when you're coming over! DOH! HA HA HA! Owen
  22. For a little clearance, I've seen people snip the edge of the lip in many places and fold them up and sometimes tack them down. John, where do the two pieces of sheet metal meet? Right at the wheel arch? I really don't want to go through all this undercoat removal, etc. Thanks, Owen
  23. Plastic blue tarp and PVC pipes for the frames, a little rope and some duct tape is all it took for me in my garage. Plus two cheap box fans and some filters. Not legal of course and smelly to the neighbors. Are you talkin a full on booth with supplied air, proper exhaust ventilation, with proper compliance (OSHA?NIOSH?). How many times do you intend to use it? The more times, the more money it's gonna cost and it's gonna have to be legal...don't want the Feds to come bustin in and confiscatin everything! Owen
  24. I'm using the ZG flares with 17 x 9 wheels. I had about 1.5 inches between the tire and fender, but the other day when I drove it, rear suspension squat cut a small gash into my brand new tires! I'm going to roll the lips but it probably won't be enough...don't want to cut either...I heard someone saying that if you cut the fenders, the inside and outside metal sheets need to be welded together. Owen
  25. I envy people like you Pete! Those who have the brains enough to get stuff to work! Me? I'm a moron and have to depend on ready made stuff Let us know how it goes! Owen
