  1. I grumbled about that to myself yesterday...could we get that "All forums" choice back? Owen
  2. I just cut it and insulated the end. You can use either tape or a fully insulated insulated plastic crimp on connector like I did. Owen
  3. Correct, there was a vinyl top model from the factory. I looked at one of these cars before and decided not to buy it. Owen
  4. Will firefighters stop and check to see if you have glass or lexan before attempting to rescue you? Not being rude, just asking a silly question Owen
  5. Cracked my windshield this weekend...but I now know how to get the dang thing off the right way. You have to cut the weather strip up though. Take a sharp edged razor blade, preferably a retractable blade with a handle. Cut perpendicularly to the rubber surface as deep as you can, all the way around. Next take the blade sideways and slide it under the rubber, cut as deep as you can all the way around. Do the same for the other side of the rubber, ie. body side and window side. You're cutting as if drawing an upside down "T". No need to cut from the inside of the car. Now just rip all the upper layers of rubber off. The window will be left sitting on the inner layer of rubber but I would remove the glass in case the bottom layer gives out. Did this last nite on the rear glass and had absolutely no problems! Do not pry hard or you will chip, crack, or shatter the glass. Owen
  6. Also bring a magnet since you can't go poking holes in to the body work. Move the magnet around the body and anywhere it doesn't stick, there's rust or bondo or filler. If you can, check the condition of the weather stripping. I pulled my shield last nite and there's major rust underneath the stripping where water accumulated, especially in the corners. Basic areas are entire floors, frame rails, rocker panels and rear deck lid. Let us know how it turns out. Owen
  7. I would get a car with out as much dents and holes and rust and waves as the current one does. Owen
  8. Yeah, got no quals about my Hobart Handler. At first I thought I really sucked but after getting the Hobart, I was getting that sweet MIG sound that we all love Owen
  9. Pictures? I wanna see! Owen
  10. Umm, Tim...You didn't leave enough room for the boost gauge, EGT, and AF meter Owen
  11. Just don't get a Craftsman MIG welder! If you search back to last year or so, you'll see how mine died and how I waited 4 months for a part and then had it blow the IC board on me 3 days later. It may have still been under the second warranty but I was in a hurry to do my floors and cage so I fixed it myself, with a sledgehammer! I now have a Hobart using a gas setup, it's so much easier than using the flux core! As for learning, just sign up for a welding class at your local college, it's the easiest way to learn. You'll probably start with oxy gas welding, stick, and then to MIG. Owen
  12. How about inducting them as members? Didn't we have someone from Finland here as well? Owen
  13. Don't forget to send us pictures and video! A couple of years ago there were some Scarab-type Zs in a magazine article. Maybe you can start up HybridZ-Japan!?!? Owen
  14. Not to be rude but I don't like it very much either. The craftsman ship is great but it makes the Z look much simpler with much more finesse. Like the Ferrari next to it. But my mental image of the Z is more spartan and rough, kinda "built for speed only"-like. I probably would've liked it more if the rocker panel area was wider or at least had some kinda skirt. Owen
  15. "It has one spot where the throttle is right then after or before the postion it won't go" Do you mean the engine won't rev before/after this position? Is the TPS working correctly? My GM manual said if the signal is over 4.7V, the TPS should be replaced. Also, if you had a scan tool or something you could graph the voltage out. The curve should be smooth and not have any spikes or pits. Owen
  16. Owen

    Paint?

I assume we're talking about bc/cc, anyone know where I can get a cheap PAPR setup? Thanks, Owen

    tim240z

Me too Tim? I want to mold the front end of my CRX onto the Z! J/K David, Man, what a good buy! Owen
  18. Tim, This is pretty muh inline with what the JTR manual says right? That's why I went over such a fuss putting on my Random Technology catalytic converter (super high flow). My engine is a truck engine and 4 years older than the car...no pass, no way. I'm not even gonna try to get it certified. The Random Cat is just a gamble that I'll be able to roll through a mobile smog check. If I get stopped for any other reason and am told to pop the hood...well...I'll deal with it then! Plus, we went through this before...what PART of the engine is applicable? My block is older, the manifold and heads are brand new. What are they gonna do, average the ages? Anyone know how to modify the casting numbers on the block??? OWen
  19. Cool, the reason I wanted to know is my wife works at Kinokuniya (Japanese bookstore). Get big discounts Yeah, that yellow car is Shimada racing. I was emailing him a while ago on some mods he did. He stopped responding after I told him I had a V8 engine.... Those Work Equips are huge too! Shimada has a website, I'll post it if I remember at home. Owen
  20. Got all those magazines, wife knows to buy it if there's any sort of Z info in them As for the videos, I have the entire set. I updated the pricing a little while ago, do a search on Wangan "Midnite". Owen
  21. Datto, Thanks for posting the pix! What magazine is that from? And what month? Owen
  22. I have the offset Maxima brackets which sounds different from the one mentioned up top. Using 92-83 ZX calipers and rotors but will 240SX ones work as well? Which year? Thanks, Owen
  23. "DOH! now im not goin to be the first to get them!!!" - That's why you gotta keep these things secret and then spring them on the rest of us when you're done I wonder if that lower bulb is for drive? Or maybe its a city-light? Oh, sorry, its a fog light. Anyone know where I can get a set of those Beetle headlights to play around with? Even if they're cracked or broken. Haven't seen any in the yards around here. Owen
  24. Or any kind of motorcycle lite that can be used? (mental note: the car is not running yet, do that first...) Owen
  25. Dang, I was thinking of using the Beetle lites, too big huh? Can't think of anything else that uses round headlites on a modern car.... Owen
