  1. Cool! Thanks guys! Owen
  2. SCCA the organization, not Mike... what class would a Datsun V8 swapped car be in? What's the difference between Solo1 and Solo2? The Formula One Association's rules are easier to understand! ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  3. You know....this post is about a year too late...for me at least. I had no idea the Autometers were that inaccurate. My friend who works at an import tuning shop told me to go with the gauges from HKS, Trust, Apex, etc cuz the Autometers sucked. I thought he was just trying to sell me the import brands! Well, now I know, again, you get what you pay for. Cheap price is why everyone has them right? I think I'll start to try selling mine...whats the point of having an inaccurate gauge?? 4. My aim here is brighter taillights and indicator lights as a second priority. Naturally having better contact points so the bulbs don't go out after every bump would be nice too. What about using halogens in the taillites? And using something to decrease their output/heat so they don't melt the lenses? How can I clean the lenses to get them clearer? I found this LED mounted in a threaded cylinder at Pep Boys, in the dress-up section. I have it inserted into my side mirror's mounting hole, a mirror with turn signals! But not as big and ugly. ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  5. See http://www.TheNewQ.com I just want the radial mounted 7-HID light part. Sweet! Damn good web design too! Gotta start studying that Macromedia Flash some more... Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  6. I used a small butane torch and lightly heated both sides where possible. In some places the junk got so dry that I could pick it off with my fingers or give it a whack with a rubber hammer and it would fall off. I used the hammer for my inner insulation as well. I was hammering inside the tunnel making room for the T-56 and when i looked inside the car, all that rubber stuff had just flown off the tunnel! 7. Mine aren't Sylvanias, I don't think. I just bought them as a "what the hell, might as well try 'em" deal at the local parts store. They aren't really blue if thats what you want. But they are a hell of a lot brighter! I'm using an H4 conversion light as well BTW. Just remember that these are an HID immitation and that they'll never have the same output. You can't just put HID bulbs into your stock lenses cuz the lenses won't scatter the lite the right way. But for a little more brightness and to keep people from running head-on into you, the blue bulbs sure do help! Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  8. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=553069559&r=0&t=0 ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  9. I have some Goodyear Gatorbacks? that are 245/55/16. My rims are 10J lip to lip. Hope this helps. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  10. Mine is something similar. Driver's side 3" pipe goes under oil pan but joins the passenger side 3" under/near the passenger firewall area. I was wondering whether heat under the pan would be a problem... Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  11. I've got one of those signature thingies too. All black, 3 spokes, but unlike the picture above, it has more bolts holding the horn button on. It has a Z in the middle. I'll sell it to ya I wanna get a D-shaped one so i can slide into my bucket seats more easily. I like the Formual 1 look too! Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  12. What I was told is that the Centerforce is basically a higher-end street clutch. So I went with a McLeod twin plate, also a street clutch but withstands up to 800hp they say. We'll see...But anyway, check your system like mentioned above before laying down the big bucks. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  13. ya mean these? Grant steering wheels! http://www.grantproducts.com/grant.fm$FIND?category=classic&keywords=%20chain&html=html_images&header=header&footer=footer&error=error&layout=blank&sort=partnum&max=20 they didnt have the ones shaped like a sideways figure 8, damnit! Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  14. I wish I had that advice before I bought mine....dang it! Oh well, car hasnt even run yet, we'll see what happens. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  15. Ron, I'd like to see a picture as well (and Mike's too) Please send to v8z@earthlink.net Thanks, Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  16. I assume this limits which differential can be used? Like the VLSD won't be compatible with the CVs? Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  17. What was this post about again, sorry...I assume you're considering the Supra 6-speed cuz the Nissan ones aren't available here (yet)? Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  18. Finally found that site I was talking about in the LED thread. "Car makers have shown a great deal of interest in using neon for CHMSL applications because of its safety advantages. Neon's speed of illumination provides an important edge over incandescent bulbs when used in brake lights. "Neon lights 200 milliseconds faster than incandescents, giving a following driver 24 feet of extra stopping distance at 65 mph," http://www.sylvania.com/aboutus/pressrel/press/990301c.html made a mistake in the curve of the front lens though, the curvy lite is a neon filled unit, not a cluster of LEDs. http://www.sylvania.com/prodinfo/auto/non.htm Owen Find some Jeeps and steal their high mount tail lites! ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  19. If they're bright enough during the day, I would be interested too. Would these be parking lite, brake lite, turning signals? It sounds like just one board will be used for top or bottom, how will this work out? Wouldn't park+brake and park+turn have to be on two separate boards? What is the address/homepage for this Flying J or Petro place? Thanks, Owen PS regarding the curved lens up front, I think I read on Sylvania's site that they were using some kind of flexible string of lites that could be put anywhere. I would hit the junk yards but everything they have there is pre-1990... ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  20. Correction, they are 16x10 Hayashi wheels. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  21. OK, who can make some for those of who hate to solder? For turn signals, LEDs are directional therefore the perforated board would have to be curved (front turn signal) to fill the lens properly? Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  22. I would weld it in too. And if you're gonna be dealing with regualtions and such, isn't the Autopower one a different wall thickness than those mandated by safety rules? Depends on what kinda racing too. Also that thing is only the back half of the car right? I guess it's better than nothing though. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  23. You can't use the crank trigger wheel made by MSD? Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  24. Maybe I don't even need this damn thing. The thrust button is to prevent the cam from walking and gouging itself into the timing cover if I remember correctly. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
  25. Owen

    ford 8.8 irs lsd

Morgan is right, on the 96+ twin turbos I think. But I wonder if those things can stand up to any torque? Wasn't there a page with a V8 swap into a second gen RX7? Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
