  1. G.R., Tell us why it wouldn't bolt up. I can't believe GM changed the bolt pattern on the heads.
  2. If you want to stand there and stare at it get a tpi. Cool looking motor. If you want drive it go LT1. Like the other boys said, '95. Although there is a sweeeeeet 350 L98 tpi on ebay right now I'd jump on if I had the funds and a good excuse for the Mrs.
  3. Welcome to hybrid Ruby! The idea has been kicked around here for a long while. When the new site goes up the search function will work again and then you'll get some good info. Untill then all I can offer is that I know of no one here that has had the cahonies (sp.?) to try it. We got sbc, sbf, tpi, LT1, LS1, a variety of RB's, Toyota mills, and even a Wankle, but no Caddy North Star. Somebody slap me if I'm wrong but I think you would be the first.
  4. Seller just ended this auction because "item was lost or broken". My guess is broken. 92% seller rating turns me off, besides all the other reasons.
  5. Not mixed up. Jon at least had a PG in his car. If he has removed it it's news to me.
  6. Jon, a.k.a. Jumbo240ez has been running a Phantom Grip for about two years now I believe. He also had to do some trimming on it to fit I believe. His Z is a street and road course track V8 car with a Tremac 5 speed. He doesn't post much here anymore but you should be able to find his e-mail through the members list. That red Z in my sig pic is his car.
  7. Stay on that soapbox Terry! There are too many hacks out there ripping us off. This why I speak up every chance I get to tell people about the true quality parts and service from John Washington. Fiberglass is a tough business and a finicky material. It likes to move all around on you. But anyone who is willing to sell parts that they know won't fit doesn't give a damn about his product or you. Don't support these thieves. Demand a good product or your money back. Then spend that money with a conscientious vender. This is the only way we are going to get good parts.
  8. Tim, I thought you had a Top End Performance strut bar. Change your mind? Wanna sell the Top End bar?
  9. Dave Greimann made these tower braces from some pretty humble parts. Not much money either but look very clean and professional. If you do a search for his name and then click the link to his page you can learn more.
  10. I've stated before that I'm not a big fan of the convertable S30. But if I were to do a widebody droptop I'd use the YZ rear fenders and the Hollywood Motorsports rear deck panel. If the two were blended properly I think the result would be stunning. Of course, I could be a little biased toward the YZ.
  11. Looks good Mike! I expect to see that baby here in April.
  12. Yup, me too. Got one from Drax and another from Zparts.
  13. I would definitely go with powdercoating. Ask around and see if anyone in your area does it. Where you live paint wont dry 'till Spring!
  14. You're cool Chris, That's just the natural offset of the heads. That's due to the fact that the eight connecting rods share four journals. Congrats on getting the motor in. Now the real work begins!
  15. Is there such a thing as a "career" oil changer? Driving a van as an A/C service tech for my old company we would rack up a thousand miles a week. So every month I would have to take it into (pick-a-name) Oil Lube for a quick oil change. Without exception there would be a whole new crew every month. Dedicated managers would last two to three months tops. After a while I sensed that these places were re-entry job opportunities for those resently released from the big house. More than once they tried to sell me a new oil pan plug because "I" had stripped the threads on the current one. "Check your records", I'd say. "You are the only guys who change the oil in this van. You're buying the plug". I do all the oil changes on my cars and trucks. 8) P.S. No offence to all the top notch, conscientious oil change techs out there. I know you're out there doing a great job. Most of the time I got excellent service. Jusy sharing my personal experiance.
  16. Trivia: Wix invented the screw-on oil filter.
  17. And no, it's not a Mustang......well..... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2455199587&category=7251
  18. Yeah, and just look at Lens cars. Not a ding or a scratch on a one of them.
  19. Sorry Jon, you got to do better than that. Remember, searchy no worky.
  20. Very exciting Ross. If I stall long enough on my R200 swap I'll end up having to add CV's as well. Do you have prices yet?
  21. Perhaps Megasquirt would be the answer then?
  22. I have some interest in this motor too. The total height of the plenum is 9 3/4" above the top of the block. I'd like to hear what Grumpy has to say about it. I wonder if the ECU is editable. About $4800 and comes with a 12 month warrenty. Cool looking set up. EDIT: I just went out and compared the measurement to my tpi manifold. The Ram Jet is about an inch taller but should clear the stock Z hood with room to spare, about 2" on average.
  23. Well, I'am going to be the voice of decent and state flatly that there is nothing wrong with the Nissan wiring design. Many of the electrical components reflex the level of quality consistant with the Japanese car industry of the 1970's. Which was mostly a mixed bag of: not bad, so so, and not so good. When all the conponents work properly the design is flawless. I find no extra or worthless wires. Most of the problems the poor car gets blamed for are caused by the string of boneheads over the last 30 years that have tried to "custom" install audio systems, extra map lights, and other gizmo widgets. I've seen failed switches bypassed (wrongly) and replaced with cheap Radio Shack crap. So, what are you going to do with the car? If this is going to be a stripped out race car then yes, pull out the stock wiring harness and replace it with an abbreviated one. You can probably make it yourself for less tham $100 with good quality parts. If this is a street car that you want everything to work just like it did when it was new than fix the problems, replace the failed parts, and follow the JTR book to wire in the new V8. Don't be intimidated just because you can't fix it with a wrench. Auto electrical is not rocket surgery. Like Tim says, buy a little book and read up. After an hour reading your anxiety about wires will fade away. Buy a $10 digital multimeter and start having fun. And the bonus. The next time you or a friend have an electrical problem in a car you can fix it! You'll be like Superman!
