the guy was "drafting" behind the other guy, and there was a slight down-grade. Since it was going kinda fast, the downforce needed to hold it down wasn't there since there was no wind resistance holding it down, because the car in front was in the way. Some thing like that.

When I was 15 I saw a car that I didn't really know what it was. Went and looked at it, it was a 81' 280zx. They wanted 200 for it, at the time the body looked excellent-so I spent all 200 that I had and bought it. Played with it for a bit and couldn't get the thing started. Spent about 1500 just to get it running, got it running. Drove it every day, had a bunch of electrical gremlins though. Ended up putting it into a curb just right at about 70 and destroyed the front right suspension. Spent about another 700 to fix that. Decided to sell it, but nobody wanted an old datsun. My suspension was too far gone and so was the frame and floor. Ended up junking it. Looked for another Z. Found one on ebay for just the right price-atleast I thought it was. Bought it without even thinkin about getting it shipped. Matt (Sparks280zt) helped out with the shipping, and at my house it sits. I did manage to get it started without having to buy more then a battery, but I broke the fuel pump when I bottomed it out. But that was my stupidity. Within a week it will be boosted, and I'll keep this one for a LONG time. Not gonna do dumb stuff with this one.

250 max, for now. But once I get the funds I'm gonna drop an RB in at some point, so I'll end up rebuilding again later.

Would this fuel pump be enough to run a boosted L28. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MSD-HIGH-PRESSURE-ELECTRIC-FUEL-INJECTION-PUMP-2225_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33555QQitemZ8063481316QQrdZ1 It seems as though it would be sufficient, but it said it can be used as a booster pump, does that mean that it can't be the primary pump?

awesome, and what would be a good size to run for the turbo feed line? The same size as the hole, smaller, bigger? Would this be a coarse or fine thread?
-
I have searched this but to no prevail. I plan on running a turbo feed line from the oil pressure sensor location with a T-fitting. So I can still use my pressure sensor, and not have to drill and tap a hole in the pan. But I need to know the size of the hole and threads in the sensor hole. Can anyone tell me this?

What to do with the original a/c?
savageskaterkid replied to nienberg.11's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
the autozone R134a kit worked great on my ZX, it actually has the oil in the freon or something like that. It says that it will make your A/C blow colder then stock too. All you have to do is change the fitting and thats it, took about 20 minuts, but thats becuase I had a leak that I had to attend to. -
I am sure this program is quite expensive, probly more then photoshop programs and such. But how much and where can you get it from?

supercharger! Its not spun by exaust, still belt drivin, its still a supercharger.

are these the people that survived natural selection? I think theses guys should have been selected by now. I love the fact that they think that there is an icewall that surrounds the world. Yet nobody has seen it, but they all say that they don't need to see it for it to exist-yet nobody has ever seen it to be able to even give somebody a thought that it my be true. Idiots.

Bought my Z on ebay too-decently priced, and good looking, although I didn't think about shippin untill after I bought the car. I too have this problem, so much so that I'm in debt yet again because of it.

Don't you just love the sound of an L28 when it first fires up. Thats right- I GOT IT RUNNING the negative hookup that I wired didn't work for some reason, so i just re-wired, and BAM. Sounds great, but I deffinitly need to adjust the timing tommorrow. Next step after getting it running right is the turbo kit, and yes, that sitting in my room, ready to install. All I need is an int/ext gasket and I'm set.

I've searched some more, and it is not stated on the site, and this was the closest to what I want to know. What does the fuel damper actually do?
-
Took the fuel pump out today, and lost more gas all over the driveway-but luckily my nieghbor let us use the power washer the other day and its still in the garage, so i'll end up cleaning that up a little later. On to buissness, messed with the pump today and discovered something. I didn't know that If you hooked the pump leads up backwards, that it would actually spin backwards. I took out the pump and played with it a bit and switched the wires, and it WORKED. Popped it back in and rewired it up, but now it won't work at all. Maybe the wiring got wet and thats why it will not work. Could that be a possible problem-wet leads won't allow it to pass a current? Hopefully they dry out in the next hour or so, so that I can fire it up.

What fun, decent performance cars would you consider for $13-14k?
savageskaterkid replied to a topic in Non Tech Board
hey bastaad, since your over on this coast now, I know of a SS camaro for sale around the corner here. He wants 6500, hes in his 60s, his daughter that hes selling it for is in her 40's, it has about 140K on the clock though. But its a 6-speed, oil changed every 3k, and the lady never gets into the gas. Runs EXCELLENT. -
For right now I'm mostly just looking for a TB to AFM hose, I've found similar ones, but they don't have a bung for the idle air sensor.
-
well, i searched my *** off, and couldn't find anything, I read all 45 posts that came up, and nothing helped me with what I needed. Just because the fuel pump is making a noise, does that mean its working? I pulled off the lines and a dribble of fuel came out, and thats it. I took the line off the fuel pump and put a hose on it and jumped the pump, no gas squirted out. Could it possibly be a fusible link? I know that theres a sensor on some cars that makes it so that the fuel pump won't pump fuel unless the engine is running, in case of an accident. Do the Z's have this? What could make the pump not work, but still hum like its supposed to? Gummed up gas in it? Can you really just bash it with a hammer and free it up? Thats what was mentioned in some posts, but people said not to do it, and they turn into arguments.

I agree that I shouldn't prioratize to find what I hope is rong. I am doing it in order, just reverse. I started to see if I had fuel pressure atop the engine-no, so I checked the lines, nothing. And I was gonna go and see if I had pressure after the pump today, but ran out of light after work, so I didn't get a chance. I'm doing it mythotically, starting from the top and working to the bottom. And so far everything points to the pump, because I have gas before it, but not up at the engine compartment. Which means theres quite a bit of room for an error. I was just stating that I hope its not the pump, and that there is a very slight possiblity that there is a clogged or collapsed line.
-
The gas tank was drained and ran with new gas, it ran kinda crappy a couple weeks ago, and all the bad gas was pushed from the lines, my new thought is that I may have a collapsed or clogged line. The pump is the last thing I hope it is. I'm about to go check the lines and hopefully find something rong with them.

This is like watching a bunch of monkeys with a hand grenade.. Ether was used in the days of the dinosaurs to start extremely low compression motors with magnetos on cold days ......you don't know enough to understand. don't take my word for it.. go pull the pin on that grende... Wow, that was quite an ignorant statement. And btw my motor is pretty old, its from the 70's, it is a dinosaur, its not new, and it won't void my warranty because of the lack of one. Now, what I stated as BLOWING UP THE INTAKE-wasn't actually blowing up, more of a popping off, there was no external flames or fire whatsoever, more of a noise, the same kind of noise you get when you blow a tire out. And mind you, these are the same stock dryrotted rubber hoses that you may have on your car-its not like I POPPED a quality piece that was perfect in everyway. I POPPED an old piece that would have rotted away anyway. And this thread was not started to hear how stupid I am, if I wanted to hear that I would have said Hey, I wanna RACE my STOCK Honda, how much NOS can I put on the stock motor with 250,000 miles. I screwed up and understand, but this was supposed to be a help thread not a hahahha your stupid thread. Please do not comment unless your have some helpful knowledge instead of pointless coments.

I replaced the fuel filter in the engine bay, not sure about the one near or in the tank. Now that you mention it, it was probly gravity that was putting the gas all over the driveway. I can hear the pump ingaging, and pumping, and i have ran a hot wire to it, the wiring is fine, it actually shorted and I had to redo that recently-It pumps when I crank the car and all, I hear it in the back. So I'm thinking there may be blockage in the lines sumwhere, but not quite sure where-I just know that its not before the pump. The gas lines have obviously been redone, and maybe they weren't put in the right location. I can tell that the lines are diffrent because whoever did it didn't put it through the gromets in the frame, they hung it under the frame.
