  1. moby, how well do you think using the stock harness with the Megasquirt computor would be? I don't really want to use the stock AFM though, is there a way I can use the stock harness and delete the AFM and splice it to use a map sensor instead? How would I go about doing this?
  2. I think I may run a stainless braided line from a 90 degree elbow. I know the size and pitch of the bolt now. Found out at advance auto parts. I've been having an interesting time finding alot of these pieces though. Someone said I could get braided stainless lines at a Big Rig Diesel shop, because they usually have them and it will be cheaper this way(hes using the same thing on his turbo honda) And I tried getting an 1/8 male NPT fitting, but cannot find it at home depot, because they don't stock anything that small. And they also don't stock anything in metric. Home Depot is sounding pretty stupid now.
  3. I recently took off the electronic ignition off of the Z, and I can finnally read it. Its an Allison XR-700. I have never heard of this before, does anybody have any experiance with this piece or any of there products? NVM, i figured out that this is the predisessor(sp?) of the Crane XR-700. But does anybody know if its the same, or similar atleast to hooking it up?
  4. has anyone seen the kit for the late model thunderbird that converts it to a 50's merc? It actually looks REALLY good, the only exterior things that it keeps is the roof and doors i think, it looks mean. I'll see if I can find it.

  6. by stock I mean the stock thread size. I don't have a feed line, so i need to make one.
  7. Sorry about that, I'm talking about a stock L28 with a stock garret t3. I'm trying to make a new feed line and return line in the next few days, and am trying to find out the best way to do it. Like what is the best metal line to use?(will aluminum work?) Also what fittings to use, should I stick with the stock banjo bolt, or should I use something diffrent, ect.
  8. Would it be possible for someone to make a sticky about the fittings on the turbo and such? Its annoying having to create a thread to ask such a simple question, and I'm sure it gets annoying having to hear these questions that everybody else already knows the answers too. Could someone also go into minor detail about designing a turbo feed line and return line? Like best material to use to make it, the fittings involved, best way to route it and such.
  9. he checked the thermostat and it opens right at 170. I don't mean to call you out to be stupid or anything, but did you wire the fans in reverse?!? It will reverse the pull to push fans, or vice versa.
  10. Yet again, more searching, but no info, maybe I'm using the wrong words. What is the thread size of the manifold studs that hold the turbo to the manifold?

  12. not the sound quality of the BOV, but the actuall style. I've taken these apart before, there off of Saabs, and the inside quality is horrible, alot of them actually fail by ripping the seal. It wasn't meant to be why they used a quite vs. loud, but a stocker vs. an aftermarket.
  13. A little more on this subject? I wouldn't mind doing this if I could retain the same harness and sensors, and progressing with a full new harness later. How would you go about building the system to use a stock harness and sensors, excluding the AFM.

  16. too late, hole is already in place in the pan, we punched it and tapped it. Turbo should be on later on next week. Actually mayb monday, just do not have time this weekend to even touch the car.
  17. seems like your using a 10:1 on stock N/a? I'm using the stock N/A injectors for now too.

  20. guess I'm gonna drill and tap a hole for the return later on this week. Where would be an ideal place to drill it?
  21. If there was oil pressure coming up from the feed line, then wouldn't there be oil pressure throughout the turbo too? So wouldn't the pressure actually force the oil out of the turbo too?
  22. hmmmm, is there another place to run the return line to, other then the pan?
  23. ........I didn't see it at first but now that you mention it, i notice it now. But what really caught my eye is that the hole in the hood looks photoshop'd, doesn't it? Forgive me if i'm wrong, but something doesn't seem right here.
  24. with this fuel pump, what would be a good FMU to run, like pressure wise? Would 10:1 be sufficient? I've seen them as low as 8:1 and as high as 12:1
