  1. Why not get a hidden audio system, I'm not sure of the price, but all the hot-rodders use it to get great sound quality and still have it apear to be a stock radio. What you do is mount a CD-changer in the backseat or in the trunk, and you get the faceplate type thing and mount it on top of your sun visor. Knowbody can see it, and it gives great sounds quality. You have a new Head unit-but the console keeps the stock look, Nobody will think about it when they look in your car.
  2. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for, atleast now its all in the same place. And when I said Chamber cc's i meant the combustion chamber not the entire displacement. But that is exactly what I needed.
  3. I was looking for bore and stroke and all sorts of other things for the L engines, and I can't seem to find them all in the same place. I cannot get the Lengine program to work either. I do have all the info now but I was wondering if we can make a FAQ or sticky with all this info. Like Bore, Stroke, Chamber CCs, ect.... for all the L series engines. (including diesel) I was looking threw the old threads and alot of questions about these things and a bit of usefull info scattered throughout the pages newbies being told to search. Would someone possibly make a FAQ?
  4. I deffinitly wouldn't mind getting one, i just don't know too much yet about them yet, so I'm gonna start lurking over at clubs12.org for awhile before I buy one. I have seen a few around here, but the S13 has rust problems on the rear hatch around here, and it wouldn't suprise me if the S12s have similar rust problems, so I'll hafta look deeper into it. Anybody with experiance with one of these can chime in.
  5. I know that Mckinnely has S13 RB mounts, not sure how great they are though. But if its a kit to mount the RB into an S13, would it be enough to mount into an S12?
  6. Mike, or anybody else who has enough experience about the S12, could you help me with this? I ask you Mike, becuz you are currently working on one at the shop, but anyone can reply. Right now I am looing at building a VERY TIGHT BUDGET CAR w/ THE WOW FACTOR. So I been looking into the S12-in my area they can be had rather cheap-in the 500-700 dollar range. And I was looking into an RB motor to put into it-I have seen RB20DET's go for around a grand with the tranny,turbo,wiring.....ect. The real questions: If the mounts are basicly the same for an SR20 into a 200sx as the 240sx, then the mounts would be the exact same for the RB into a 240sx, right? AND, do you see enough room to be able to stuff an RB into the S12. I've looked into this but every board I look at says-"Why do that when you can install and SR20 for a better bang for buck" Or the people were in the process and just stopped posting about it. I do not want an SR20 because all the SX's around here are soon to be SR20, and a good frend is about to do it too. I want sumthing unique. It is VERY RARE to see an RB series engine in anything around here. So thats what I want to do. I will knowledge everyones response about the SR20, but that is NOT going to go into the car im visualizing.
  7. will deffinitly do that, i just gotta get some bills paid before i even look into it.
  8. Thanks guys, the car is located right outside of mechanicsville. Its been sitting for a while, but it fired right up when i saw it, and that was a plus, my Z didn't do that-it took months for that to happen. When it was running it blew a radiator hose, but then again i'd end up replacing all the hoses anyway and seeing as how it has the 4 barrel intake it doesn't have just about any wires or hoses on the engine, so it won't be bad at all. I would also have to replace the windshield and side view mirrors.
  9. My buddy with a supra turbo got a full stainless 2.5 inch stainless exhaust, cost about 600 plus the 50 dollar muffler, you get what you pay for-and stainless will last longer then the engine and you'll never have to replace it, although my buddy is upgrading to a 3" downpipe and 3" stainless exhaust.
  10. I've been looking at this Z for quite sumtime now, its a 75' 280Z. The owner has dropped the price to 500 dollars. At the moment i am extremly broke, but by the end of january im hoping to have everything paid off, and be making the bank to buy the car. The problem itself isn't the money, i put 3 thousand into my S130, and eventually junked it-its not a big deal. I just do not want to buy another Zcar-specially an S30, that is gonna get my hopes up, and when i start to look at it, it will bring my right back down. I want to start with a decent car. The car is a 75" 280z, comes with a whale-tail spoiler, removed front bumper, and uninstalled Front air dam, It has a 5-speed, It has a clifford 4 barrel intake, and a full exhaust. I would like to have it inspected by sumbody a bit more knowledgable then me. Would anybody be interested in the near future? Jamie? Mike?
  11. I agree with the classic idea. It is a classic mustang, so it deserves a ford engine, mayb not the stock engine, but mayb a 5.0 or 4.6-the new ones. Kind of like, you can put a nissan engine in your 240Z, its still a nissan engine, but newer, more powerful technology. Its not so much of a purity thing, but more of a classical thing. When you buy a mustang, you want that V8 rumble. When you buy a skyline, you want that straight-6. On another note, wasn't there sum1 on here who was gonna put a 2JZ into a 68 mustang?
  12. Can it be anything like the new VW twincharger plan. VW is comming out with a new engine design that will come stock on one of there euro cars. For low rpm it has the supercharger pushing air in the engine, and after combustion all the pressure is forced through the exhaust spinning the turbo for high RPM power.
  13. Well, my best frends dad is an Amsoil Dealer and now my frend is too. His dad runs Amsoil in every thing he has, and if you just look under the oil cap, look at the springs and valves, they look brand new-it cleans the engine out very well. And if you don't like doing oil changes, Amsoil has a new product that can last upto 30,000 miles, and my frends dad does tests on the oil every 3k miles-and it looks just as good as the last time. And this guy is very picky when it comes to oil. He says the stuff is so great that he uses it as 2-stroke oil, and (no ****, i've seen him do it) he'll even mix it in with his 4 stroke gas, becuz he says it feels that much better when he puts it in his lawnmower.
  14. I think I relized something. Is that a SBC underneath all that plumbing, its hard to tell-all i see is turbo piping, and sumthin that says chevrolet, wonder what it is.
  15. wow, u messed up big time. A. Your in the wrong forum. B. How is it injected, and have webers at the same time? C. You can't say how much, w/o saying mileage, if its been rebuilt, or if it has anything done to it
  16. Thats how im driving my truck now, but mine will disengage if the clutch is held down for more then a second, and then i have to pull it up. It teaches you how to shift faster though.
  17. actually souds like a bad alternator to me, when you rev it(engine braking) the alternator spins faster, so it will charge the battery easier and everything lights up fine. If its bad, then at at low speeds(low rpms) then its not being revved so everything is dim, and its getting a bad spark from the coil, becuz of a low battery. IDK what the fluid this is about though. I know that the first part is true, but i think i was talking out my *** the second part, but it was worth a try. I think u need a new alternator.
  18. As a follow up to this thread- http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=106089 It turns out that there is a new owner of this property, and i was wondering howto find out who? Could i also call the old owner of the car, and get the title, and tell the new owner of the land that this is my car, and then tow it off there property?
  19. sumbody told me tday that they saw the same truck, but they said it was a dualie, wich i never really stopped to pay close attention to the wheels, so i didn't notice it-did they even make a dualie in that model, or is the kid possibly mistaken, he also said that it was an early 50's model too.
  20. 73TPIZ-The one i saw looks most like the third picture, but it had a split window-did these models come like that at all, or was that an aftermarket type thing, because all of the ones i see online have a one piece windshield.
  21. I was wondering around sum abondoned property, and about halfway through the property i found an old chevy truck. I looked at pictures online and its around a 1955-1960 pickup, it doesn't have the original bed, and the windshield is shot out and i didn't really pay much attention to the other windows. Its got a flatbed on it. Can anybody give me a site or information that pertains to this truck model. And a site where i can buy replacement pieces, i checked a few out, but none had a bed, or any bed parts. How replacable are the windshields-its got 2 windshields. And what are sum common problem areas when it comes to rust and such. I believe that i can pick it up fairly cheap, it is not in great condition, but its not a complete bucket either. Its on property that was siezed by the gov't i believe, so i called the place thats selling it, and left a message about the vehicle, i highly doubt there gonna wanna keep an old junker truck on the property if there gonna sell it. Edit: I didn't really pay close attention to the truck at all, becuz i wasn't sure if i was even allowed on the property becuz it has posted signs everywhere, but its an abandoned property now, so i dont think the signs mean anything- i may drive back there one of these days and get a closer look, so sum1 give me some info on what to look for and when to say NO. and i dont know if its a v8 or an I6
  22. thanks, i thought i was stupid or sumthing, i wasn't aware of a 393, i was possibly thinking it was a 383 bored out even more.
  23. well, im about 2 hours from fairfax, so i can't really speak much for it, but if you go a bit more south, prices get cheaper and you get a bit more land for the amount of money, my parents looked into moving up to NoVa, ITS EXPENSIVE. Down near richmond isn't dirt cheap, but its affordable. There is a few shops in the richmond area. You could get a job working for a shop called RPM, they really need new ppl to turn it around, because most of the guys up there are assholes who don't know too much, except that there boss drives a lambo, and owns a CRX-if you want it, they can order it for you-if it comes with very detailed instructions-they mite even b able to install it for you. They need new help.
  24. mines "The General" -no sh!t Its pretty bad when ppl say the general though.
