The car bucks....ALOT when its under 2000 btw this a 92 mazda b2600i with 155 on the clock, but its been drivin under-revved for atleast the past 10k, and i can't remember how my grandfather used to drive it.

i recently got accepted into a college-UNO(University of NW Ohio) and im taking high-performance tech-they say that most of the graduates end up with nascar at sum point-they even have a regulation track and drag strip on campus. They also have a class that is alternative-fuels, such as alcohal dragsters and such, i thought that this was part of the high performance degree, but i was wrong, it is its own degree, its about a 1.5-2 year course for this degree, and i can bet you that the people doing this degree are going to be making sum big bills in the next few years.

so, i know that in my truck when i drive it-if its anything below 2000 RPM it will shack and lug the motor(i have too heard this expression) and i know that between shifts i loose 1000rpm, so i shift at 3000rpm and i always get a perfect shift, except when shift into fifth, which is only a 500rpm drop, so shift from forth at 2500rpm. My dad likes to shift at 2000-2500rpm, and i always told him it was bad for the clutch, becuz i thought this caused it to slip, but is this actually more worse for the engine then it is the clutch?!?!? He basicly shifts it so that it goes to around 1500rpm and it runs horribly-all the change in the cup-holder shakes when he does it. And mind you, this is a 4cylinder truck, so it has sum low gears to it. He'll put it in 4th at 25 mph, and when i drive it i shift into third at exactly 25-26mph. He always blew it off as "i've been driving manual cars for years and i never shift above 2500 in any of them, and never had any clutch problems other then a normal clutch job every 80,000-100,000 miles." so i say, "yes dad, but this is also the only manual truck you've ever had, it has lower gearing, so it needs to b shifted a bit higher." Was i right? What kind of damage does this do?

how did that iguana fit under the dash, that thing is huge, i read about the first 6 pages and then i got tired, but that is great.

I've heard similar things with the crankwalk and reliablility problems, that they apply mostly to 94 and up, i never knew the reason for it though. I've heard of plenty reliability problems on the 2gens, but nuthin on the firt gens

i believe one of the reasons y sum of the cars you've drivin with an ethanol mix have worse gas mileage is becuz ethanol is a higher octane then gasoline, with means its harder to burn, and im not sure how high the octane of it is....so i couldn't tell you. Since its a higher octane, you need more pressure to get it to burn correctly, thats y racers use it, becuz of there higher compression ratios. Newer cars have knock sensors that retard the timing when it starts to ping just the tinyist bit-thats y you don't notice a new car knocking-becuz it retards the timing based pretty much on the octane. take a new vetter or sumthin and put ethanol blend in it, and im sure it will run better. You can run a vette on 89 octane, but the performance will b lacking, put sumthin higher like 93 and you'll notice a diffrence. I don't think of a 76 ford as being high compression, so that could be y you've had problems with the stuff. If they made ethanol more than normal gasoline, they could just bump up the compression on new cars. Think of the torque and HP that a 12:1 motor would put out, while running cooler, and passing smog with flying colors and it could all be from the factory, if they make this more widespread. And the price of gas would drop for older cars that can't run ethanol. If this doesn't sound right then tell me, but im pretty sure its the compression that seems to be the problem with the ethanol in your car.

my tone wasn't set as being offensive or mad, just stating a point, i understand how it could b takin though.

I never really thought of this b4, i always just kinda blew this thought off. You know how when you start the car in 3rd accidently, and the car shakes becuz your in too high of a gear, or you shift at too low of an RPM? Why does this happen? Is it becuz of the torque at that RPM just not enough to turn those higher gears? or is it sumthing else? This seems like sumthing to ask Grumpyvette, he always has this kind of info. Can sumbody give me an explanation or a site that explains this?

You also said that the bug you had was a 70's model, that is not a late-model, and in the US they do not offer a RWD bug anymore, they stopped that in the 70's, and back in the 70's mexico bought the rights of the bug, thats y the still make it there, the same as it was in the 70's, it doesn't look newer, but the exact same. BTW, im in the USA, same as you, wich doesn't change anything, becuz on the west coast, its still not made in the US. Its kind of like when sum1 says that have a 260Z everyone knows its carberated, becuz thats how they came in the US, but in europe and asia sum of them were fuel injected-but nobody thinks about it like that.

not cool, last nite i came home, and my mom was putting a garbage bag on the van becuz sum1 busted into the van and didn't steal anything?!?!? We've never had any problems b4, but the one time my sister drives it into richmond and BAM. Had a few problems with the van b4, but not it getting broken into. I guess sum1 thinks.....hmmmmmmmm, a 2004 siena must have alot of cool stuff in it(granted it comes stock with a JBL sound system and 12" sub in the back, but nuthing was takin?) Broke in, and left everything.

Worst case scenerio, they say that if she leaves for the measly 2 days, then she'll get fired....wich seems a bit pathetic. If you know that this is gonna happen, get her to put in her 2 weeks notice the day b4 you go on your honeymoon, that way she will get the 2 weeks vacation that she earned, and if the employer relizes how bad it is w/o her while your on vacation, you can work out a negotiation. I almost quit one year when i took 2 weeks vacation, but i decided that i really needed the money to finish paying off the Z bill. I almost did it again this year, but I had noticed that if i quit one of my jobs that my income would severly decrease, and as of now, not even 2 jobs give me enough hours......im applying for a third.

Fwiw, i dont think the bug doesn't have a driveshaft, just half-shafts becuz the engine is in the back. And i wouldn't consider a 74 a late model, the general rule of thumb is Late Model=10yrs old or less(thats wht i was told) If you were gonna drift a LATE MODEL bug, it wouldn't do that good becuz it is FWD. Don't get me wrong though, i have seen people drift FWD cars, but its not as easy and it doesn't slide quite as well either.

i got 396hp@6000-6500RPM and 380ft/lbs@4000rpm BTW, just in case this seems very wrong, i just got the program yesterday, and am still fairly new to it, but i entered in most of the variables into the appropriate place, sum were not needed.

he has to be adding oil, i work at a oil change shop, and Rangers are notorious for having bad oil leaks. I know of one Ranger that has never had an oil leak, the guy gets his oil changed every 3 weeks or so.....about every 1-2k

Is it just me or does the Fiat Dino have alot in common with the early Z's. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-Fiat-Dino-Completely-Restored_W0QQitemZ4579718590QQcategoryZ6218QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

chicayne is one badass car, i remember seeing it on rides, and i fell in love with it. 1400 ft pounds, and 1000 ft pounds at 4000rpm, that is badass.

the z-engine is an idea, but they do have a concept motor, its a 2 stroke turbo-diesel engine. My thoughts haven't been completled yet, im still thinking about how this engine is gonna b put together....so i still have sum bugs to work out.
-
i read in sport compact car about a diesel engine called the Z engine, huh-wht a place to talk about such an engine. well, this engine has a compression ratio of about 2:1, well, that VERY low for a diesel. This paticular engine can hold upto 250psi of boost- YES, two-fifty psi, this makes up for the very low compression, it will get more power then a V-8, but its only a 2 cylinder. I thought, well, lower the compression on the LD a bit, and i could easily run 30 psi daily, and more for the strip if i wanted. So im gonna drop the compression a whole lot, and run alot of boost, but improve on things so i will get the low end torque and hp.
-
I am thinkin of building a high rev diesel engine, that will run about 30psi, and b biodiesel powered, theres a place about half hour from here that i can get the stuff, and there thinkin of makin a place closer, and i can always fill it with diesel fuel if i get desperate. Not absolutly sure on the specs yet
-
I have searched a bit about this but i don't really get the answers i need-its mostly useless info, there is sum good info that has helped me quite a bit. I need to know, what is the stock LD bore, not the bore that i would need on the L28, but the actual bore of the LD motor it self? And what is the stroke? What are the stock bore and stroke of the L28e and the L24. I have a big idea that i have not seen yet, and it seems from wht i know about deisels, i could easily push 25-30 psi daily. BTW, im already planning this out becuz although i junked my other ZX, i plan on getting a first gen real soon, and my mind is working overtime with this next idea, i'll let you guys know more about it once i get into the project, within the next month or 2. If i could get these specs that i need, i could give you guys a rough guess on the hp and tq numbers.
-
it took me over a year to figure that out, i too thought it was on the go, i just relized this now that u mention it.
-
My ZX did that, i didn't think much of it, i thought it had to do with pressure building up in the fuel lines so it could push the gas threw the lines easier.
-
watch your words, you may jinx your car by saying that. Most of the problems on a Zcar arn't always there, they happen over time, and i can tell u with the ZX, the Ignition is prone to overheating itself, fuel injectors gum up very easily, among a bunch of other things, if you brag about how lucky you are, u may prone yourself to a problem happining. Watch out, ZX's are a handful
